Chapter 5: Not once. But twice!

The original look of contemplation on Cei's face couldn't help but disappear as he saw the terrified woman running towards his open door. Instead, a grimace appeared on his face as he couldn't help but want to smack the girl running towards him. However, he remained composed as he grabbed the small pipe out of his bag, as he began to lay up his swing before waiting for the woman to enter the room.

And as soon as the woman dashed past him, he swung the pipe as hard as he could, straight towards the head of the zombie in pursuit, causing a sound of cracking to be heard. However, Cei wasn't sure if it was the zombie's skull that was broken or his wrist, because he could feel his wrist pulsating in agonizing pain, but he wasn't gonna check, and instead let the adrenaline take over. As he swiftly, after the first swing, brought the pipe back and laid into the zombie which had crumpled from the first hit. Causing a disturbing percussion of thumps to sound out from within the private room.

And it wasn't long after that he was one hundred percent sure that the zombie had died, but he couldn't help but glare at the girl, who was startled like a frightened hare by the sudden glare. But he didn't have time to waste with her as he zipped up his bag and jumped over the corpse of the zombie as he darted towards the exit of the net cafe. All while noticing the absolute disarray of the cafe, he assumed the private rooms must have been soundproof as there was no way he wouldn't have noticed the commotion judging by the poor state of the cafe. He could even see two zombies eating some poor souls at the back of the cafe.

However, he didn't have enough time to deal with another two zombies so he just slammed the <font style="background-color: rgba(250, 0, 30, 0.15);">door</font> open and left the zombies in the cafe for someone else to deal with. Well, that had been the plan anyway. But of course, his luck could never be that good. As,<span style='display: inline !important; float: none; background-color: rgb(245, 246, 245); color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: "Diaria Light Pro",sans-serif; font-size: 19px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 300; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; pointer-events: none; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;'> just five seconds after he had left the internet cafe, the girl who had almost got him killed just moments ago left the cafe following in his direction but not without two zombies hot on her tails and all the while running towards him screaming at him to help her.</span>

<span style='display: inline !important; float: none; background-color: rgb(245, 246, 245); color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: "Diaria Light Pro",sans-serif; font-size: 19px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 300; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; pointer-events: none; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;'></span>

He took one look at her and the roaring and screaming zombies just a few meters behind her, and can honestly swear he moved at the fastest speed he has ever run. If he stopped to help her he was almost certain he would get ganged up on and killed by the two zombies, the women must be delusional if she thought he would save her a second time.

So he ran, and he ran damn fast. But damn, was that girl quick she was stuck to him like a rash. So he was taking sharp turn after sharp turn in an attempt to throw her off, but she followed him like a slippery bastard. However, the sharp turns did manage to shake something off though, with the zombies unable to continue their high speed around these sharp corners, and instead lost their balance and were strewn on the floor and instead opting to chase some less slippery prey, which happened to be the nearby pedestrians.

But, Cei wasn't just trying to lose the girl, he was also trying to get to a hunting dealership that he had found online but there was only one problem. The dealership was closer to the downtown area, which he didn't really want to move closer to, but he was a flexible person and knew that despite the risk he was going to need both firearms and some proper melee weapons if he was gonna hope to dispatch the zombies that were becoming increasingly rampant.

He could currently feel his heart trying to leave his chest as the zombies had stopped the pursuit. But as he stood there resting with the percussion of his heartbeat almost audible, he sent another hateful glance towards the woman who was moving closer to him in a somewhat similar state. However, She seemed to be a little guilty after she received his glare because her face suddenly looked like a child that had been caught doing something naughty, and seeming to realize her mistake as she said.

"I'm really sorry about what just happened. I was just scared, and those things were terrifying and you seemed to know how to handle these monsters."

He looked at her as his gaze seemed to soften a little but it was obvious he did not hold any positive feelings towards her.

"Really, I'm glad you think I'm so reliable," he said in a somewhat harsh tone

"But you see no matter how reliable I might be, you see I'm having a little problem finding you anything but a danger hazard." again in an increasingly hostile tone

"Because you see it's not just once in the last 5 minutes I've almost died because of you. But twice." This time sounding almost seething.

"So, I'm sorry, beautiful but I'm going to have to ask you to leave me alone." This time Cei spoke in a soft voice as if his previous anger was just an illusion.

However, her reaction was not what he expected to see as she suddenly turned as red as a tomato as she asked in a quiet voice.

"So you think I'm b-beautiful…" Seemingly lost in her own little world.

Hearing this Cei couldn't help but frown with a visible vein of irritation throbbing on his forehead. He wasn't sure what part of 'leave me the fuck alone' she didn't get. He was about to explode and give her a piece of his mind, but his mind wouldn't allow him to do that in this situation. And so he recollected himself as he turned away coldly leaving the girl who was lost in her own little world.

However, there was no way she was going to leave him that easily and as she saw him leaving she ran over to him like a baby duckling finding its mother. Needless to say, he was irritated to no end, but he didn't let it show on his face as he just continued to ignore her as he continued on towards the hunting dealership.

But besides the incessant questions barraged towards him by the girl who would not leave him be. He noticed a few things as he made his way to his location, first he noticed a couple of traffic accidents seemed to have occurred as he noticed that a traffic deadlock seemed to be building up with people inside their vehicles incessantly honking their horns in an attempt to showcase their frustration. But that wasn't all he also noticed, he had also seen that in some of the nearby buildings there seemed to be various commotions and although they may have been nothing it was still something that he noted as he increased his pace towards the dealership.

And although he made his way towards the dealership without incident, the signs of zombie presence were becoming increasingly more obvious around the city. He had seen a storefront of a boutique that was painted in red, and although it might not have been blood, he couldn't see any other reason why a glass boutique door was covered in a red liquid. He had also heard a huge wave of screaming and panic from another street when he was fairly close to the dealership, and although it wasn't a definite sign of zombies he was more inclined to believe it was probably the case.

But if there was one thing he was almost sure of at this point, the city would probably be overrun in a week or two. As even now it was getting increasingly more dangerous in the city by the second.

And so he entered the hunting store with a determined face as if ready to face the impending crisis he would face when he walked back out that door.
