CHAPTER 5
He was laughing hysterically. It looked like he was all alone. He had escaped Arkham Asylum just a week before.
Batman swooped down in quiet mode. The Bat Mobile was hidden behind a building. He jumped out and looked at Joker. Of course Joker couldn't see him as he continued to laugh.
Batman observed for a moment to see what he was doing.
"Harley, why don't you be a dear and come out of your little rabbit hole?!" He shouted with an evil smile.
Then he saw Harley peep her head out of the shadows. "Do you have some kind of death wish or some-thin?!" She shouted.
She pulled out her "Kaboom Canon" which was filled with grenades that had happy faces on them.
Batman was a little shocked. He thought that they had some crazy deep love fantasy.
He figured that they broke up or something but he didn't think to hard on it. It wasn't his business anyways.
But he couldn't let anything happen. So, he looked over and saw that there was a clown statue. He decided to go near it.
While Joker and Harley were arguing, Batman hid behind the statue. It was beside the building that Harley had came out of.
He had a better view of them. He could see that Harley was dripping in tears as Joker laughed at her sadness.
Batman had actually felt a little pity for her. But he remembered that he needed to focus on his task.
He knocked the statue over so it would catch their attention.
Before they could see who it was, Batman used his grapple hook to leap onto the roof of the building.
He knew he needed to hurry as the sun would be coming up soon.
They looked over to the statue but they didn't see anyone. They looked at each other in confusion.
Joker sighed in anger.
"Great, something to ruin my fun!" He growled as he turned to walk towards it. "Stay here, Harley baby." He said with a creepy smile.
She rolled her eyes. "Like I'm gonna listen to you." She whispered so that he couldn't hear her.
She turned to the opposite direction. She rushed inside the building to grab her bat.
BOOM!! She heard an explosion outside and ran through the door.
She looked and saw Joker shooting at Batman! Right in front of her stood two people she hated.
She didn't even think before running towards them.
She didn't care ether.
She screamed as she aimed for Batman. She missed and fell against Joker.
She swung her bat at him but he pushed her away just in time. He then punched her in the face.
She fell to the ground. Batman hurled towards Joker and kicked him in the shoulder. He was hurt but not badly enough.
Joker swung his fist at Batman and missed. He proceeded to pull out his gun. His finger was on the trigger ready to fire.
He chuckled. "Things are really starting to heat up now aren't they?! A bat, a clown, and an insufferable little girl who likes to annoy me! Her emotions they just.. they just, kill me." Joker exclaimed. His eyes widened in excitement.
It was like everything was in slow motion. He began to push the trigger down. Harley finally stood up.
Right as the bullet was shot, Batman ducked.
Instead it hit Harley right in the stomach...
