Chapter 23: Alone Time with a Former Enemy

"Stop!" Her last words rang out clear, shocking the two males in front of her. Liam's hand, still wrapped around Ethan, slackened, allowing him to breathe deeply.

Ethan slumped to the ground, still trying to catch his breath.

A moment went by before Victoria chose to speak again. "You broke rule one." She said slowly, cautious of her words. She felt as if in this moment, one wrong word could set the two off again.

"Ethan." The two needed to be separated. One fight was all it took for them to become toxic towards each other, and if they both stayed together in her small apartment, there would be hell to pay. "Go to our workplace... bring me the days work." It was the most efficient way to clear the home; get rid of the most feral male.

"But-" He was arguing with her? After what had just happened, his increasing proximity to her face that she didn't initiate nor authorize?

All Victoria needed to do silence the Omega was glare at him. Ethan's mouth closed with a pop, and he began to stand again. He wobbled quite a bit on his way up, still taking shallow breaths. Victoria couldn't really say she felt any remorse; Liam had saved her for the first time in both their lives.

As quickly as Ethan had entered the room, he was gone. After hours of annoyance, bared teeth, and the word "mate," there was one less person in Victoria's apartment.

It took even less time for Liam to begin his seemingly mandatory speech. "Hey..." he said, sidling up to the person he once hated. "Are you alright?" Like he had that morning, Liam slung his arm over her shoulders.

"I'm fine." Victoria barked, shoving him off of her. She didn't want to be touched, and she sure as hell didn't want to be marked by anyone's scent.

Victoria stalked out of the room, her legs taking her as far as they could before she collapsed.

The couch was nice and comfortable; it would've been a perfect spot to just drop down, but of course, Victoria missed it by a few inches.

"Ow." She murmured as she hit the floor. "You've got to be kidding me."

After a few seconds of blissful silence, footsteps could be heard approaching her.

"What do you want?" Victoria asked, an impatient sigh following her question.

"Just some alone time."
