Victoria woke up in the hospital, her head pounding in tandem with her heart. Her eyes stung, her stomach ached in an unfamiliar way; her day had been hell, and it had been made even worse.
Stupid Alpha Newspapers, stupid Liam Gale for making this happen.
"Ms. Grey!" Ethan yelled as he noticed her eyes flutter. He stood up from the chair he was sitting in, the on the right side of her bed.
I guess he really is my right-hand man...
Victoria thought, her mind swirling in troubling ways. Luckily, her vision was fine enough for her to actually look at Ethan, and his crystal clear, lake blue eyes...
Ethan's nose wrinkled in an almost horiffied way.
"Oh, Boss..." His voice trailed off dreamily. "Your scent, it's, um-"
Victoria understood immediately.
"Oh no."
--
"So, while your body is healing itself for a few days, your scent may be a little prominent." Even the doctor's nose wrinkled, not in disgust, but as if he was smelling something overly sweet and reminiscent. Something personal to everyone, like home made cookies baking in an oven, or fresh linen from the laundry.
"Just be careful around Alphas." Victoria gulped. Be careful around Alphas. As if that were currently possible, with Victoria's pressing meeting.
"Ethan." She said. "The meeting, is it...?"
"Rescheduled for later today. They can take you anytime you come, I heard."
Ethan's answer was slightly reassuring. Victoria wouldn't be missing her meeting, but there was still the fact that Liam was an unrelenting Alpha Male. If her scent was that bad, she'd have to stay far away from him, and that was no easy feat with Victoria's rage. This attack was the last straw; she would once and for all destroy Liam Gale, and all that he stood for.
"Will you still be going?" Ethan asked, concern in his voice. He knew what might happen if she went in there. He knew that either way, it wouldn't be good.
"Of course."
