Her parents belived what Kruthika said to them. They became normal as they were before only difference was they didn't know about their other child Karthik.
Kruthika was happy to see her parents normal as before and felt guilty about hiding Karthik's identity from them. She cleared rest of her exams which she didn't attend because of Karthik's demise. She lied to her parents that she failed in some subjects when her parents asked her why she was writing the exams again.
Everything went smoothly as before but there was one thing which constantly disturbed her. It was about Karthik's journal. She brought the journal to Bangalore from the home.
Every night she sat in the corridor of the hostel and went through the book once again. Since it was final year of her degree, she has only interns and projects to complete. Classes were only on Saturday's.
Despite of all these responsibilities she managed to focus on what she was doing in her studies, she gave concentration on the internship she was doing. It was heavy work for her but she can't even run from such things.
Days passed by and February arrived. Kruthika was still not able to forget Karthik, during weekends she used sit alone thinking about him. Her roommates saw her loneliness and asked her to join with them to watch the Sherlock Holmes webseries.
There was one episode in which Sherlock Holmes catches the Chinese mafia based on the position of the word in the book at a particular page.
Kruthika was truly amazed by the intellect of those people his they secretly communicated with each other.
Something flashed to Kruthika, she went to her cupboard took all the letters which her brother sent to her. She scattered them on her bed and looked on the dates written on the letter.
On the envelope there was the actual date mentioned and inside other date was written with some arrow marks. Kruthika never observed this before since she was busy in reading the message.
When she arranged the letters in according to the dates from old to new one's, she found that only in few of these letters digit time date was mentioned. One on the envelope which is the right one and one inside the envelope which is different.
21/6 was written which underlined completely and arrow mark was from left to right(→).
12/8 was written where only 1 was underlined from right to left (←).
11/4 was written where first 1 was underlined from left to right.
12/12 was written where first 1 was underlined from right to left.
16/2 was written which was underlined completely from right to left.
21/3 was written and again underlined completely from left to right.
She found only these dates mentioned in all these letters. She don't know where to find the answer for these.
"What does it mean? These arrow, marks underlines, numbers?!! I'm which I've to find an answer for this?!.....
Think.. think Kruthika think...
What he wanted to give me even after his death, the letters. I read the letters written by him after he left us. Out of three only two was addressed to me.
In first one he mentioned about Nithin uncle. In second one he asked me to fulfill his dream. Even after his demise he wanted me to give his journal.
Yeah journal.... That's it!!!!"
Kruthika opened the journal and thought of matching the numbers, arrow mark and underlines.
"What does all this mean? Wait be calm. Be calm.
Analyse the problem Kruthika, ANALYSE it.
Firstly, one must instruct that in which page I'm finding the letters or words.
Secondly, he must say which paragraph it is.
Thirdly, which letter.
So in accordance to this the numbers they are - 216,128,114,1212,162,213.
Since the first number only has either 1 or 2 and the journal of written only for two pages I can assume it denotes page number.
Let me count the number of paragraphs in each page. Nine in first page and four in second. So the second position is mentioning the paragraph number.
So the last number, in essence the one which denotes the month of the position of the word which I have to find out"
Kruthika took a piece of paper and noted the words down.
216 Why
128 Time
114 going
1212 I
162 not
213 answer.
"What does this mean 'WHY TIME GOING I NOT ANSWER'?!!
What does that mean??"
Kruthika thought to herself. She was going mad thinking about all these things. Her roommates didn't understand why was she looking into all those letters and the journal.
"Kruthika! What happened?", asked Anjali. Anjali and Sunidhi were looking at each other with a question.
"Nothing I just remembered something", Kruthika answered thinking furiously about what that sentence meant.
"It's time for lunch can we go to lunch", Srinidhi said.
"Haaaa... Yeah I'm coming", Kruthika said while she still thought about it.
They had the lunch. Kruthika was not able to come over it.
Next morning....
Kruthika went to the company where she worked as intern. Navneet usually picked her up from hostel in his car since they both worked in same company.
"What's disturbing you today the most?", Navneet asked her.
"Nothing", Kruthika answered as she glared outside the window.
"There is something that's disturbing you. Do you still feel guilty about Karthik", Navneet asked her.
"Yeah. They both have every right to know about the past and who am I to hide about their own child's death. If Karthik was in my place he would have never done this. I'm not a good daughter they don't deserve me", said Kruthika, a tear rolled from her left eye.
"Kruthika! You know what, you are a very good daughter that anyone can have. Like look at you, you handled everything alone. You reacted in the best way you could. I admire you. Please don't be harsh to yourself", Navneet said as he driving the car.
"No Navneet. I'm nothing when compared to Karthik. It should have been me instead of him. I don't feel like working today", Kruthika said to him.
Kruthika considered Navneet as her friend, he was caring and understood her very well. She has other friends too, Varshini always share only her stories she never listens to other's feelings or thoughts.
While Suma and Vinod were in thier own world. Suma and Bhumi always praised there boyfriends as competition who loved whom the most.
So it was only Navneet who listened to her and understood her among them all. She felt her heart lighter when she shared them with Navneet. Since she couldn't share about such things with her parents.
