Chapter 49: Effort to erase past....

The room was silent they could hear the ticking of clock.

"Kruthika, your mother got her conscious back. Please get in", said the same nurse to who she asked to shift her parents in the room.

"Okay", said Kruthika in joy to nurse, she was not tensed how will she handle them.

"Please don't come until I ask you!", she said to rest of them and entered the ICU.

She saw her mom in bag bandages covering her head and arms. Kruthika breathed heavily, looking at her mom. She went and sat beside her mom.

"Mom, how are you feeling?", Kruthika asked as she held Madhavi's hand.

"I'm feeling okay. But who are you? What happened to me? Who am I in the first case?", Madhavi began to panick, "And why am I beside this man in ICU?"

"You will get answered for all those questions only when you calm down. You will get the answers when you'll be perfectly alright in healthy condition. Okay, is that clear to you", Kruthika said as she convenced her mom.

Kruthika was handling her mother, as her child.

"Don't say complete story, but atleast give a synopsis so I'll not panick and hold the suspense for a long time. Even that might affect me", Madhavi replied.

"Okay. You are my mom, that person sleeping over there is your husband. We are from Hubli it's around three hundred kilometres from here. We have our own home, and also we own a garment shop. I'll tell you complete story after you recover, okay", Kruthika said to her mom

Her mom agreed to her and did everything as Kruthika instructed.

The same happened with Madhusudan, Kruthika promised him that she'll tell complete story about him after he's perfectly healthy.

Kruthika moved her parents to the hospital in her town. She single handedly managed everything her parents health, the insurance business, the garment shop, cooking food and giving it to her parents.

Ofcourse she needed someone to look after her parents at hospital, the staff of hospital helped her alot. She was very grateful to them for taking care of them in her absence.

"If I say them everything about past again they might go in depression. May be I've to hide somethings which hurt them. Thinking about Karthik's death, Sonalika and Ajeet hurts them the most. Yes I'll hide it, may be in that way they'll have new lives", Kruthika thought to herself.

She thought of hiding about their another child and her own brother Karthik to them. She collected all the evidences which price his survival on home and at shop. She thought of destroying all those evidences, but she couldn't do it.

She thought of hiding them in the room where all the unnecessary and extra things are kept in her shop. She kept it in a corner where all old bills of customers and goods were kept.

She requested all her family members, friends, neighbours, customers not to remind them about Karthik. Some didn't agree but Kruthika tried to convince them.

Kruthika went to Suman's home to discuss about this matter personally. Nithin and Suman were present at home while their children went out for some work.

"Good morning, aunty. Namaste uncle", Kruthika greeted with a half smile as she entered Suman's home.

"Good morning, come in", Suman welcomed her. She felt very sorry for her situation.

"Heard that you have been managing everything by yourself the shop, your parents and even the hospital bill with those insurance people. You are very strong girl, dear. We are very sorry for what happened", Nithin said in a apologetic tone.

"We can't change what happened, but we can only what will happen. I think you both know why I'm here. But still let me make it clear", Kruthika said.

She cleared her voice and swallowed saliva to bring back her confidence, "My parents lost their memory in the accident. They don't remember about anything. And we can't stress them to remember what happened in past doctor said it might affect them as their wound is not completely healed"

"I need a favor from you to save my parents lives. Please don't ask them or say them anything about Karthik. I don't want to see them again going through all that pain and depression. Since only in living, let them assume that I was their only child"

"Will you please do that for me? I've no one in this world now apart from them", Kruthika said as tears rolled from both her eyes.

Suman passed Kruthika a tissue, she stopped the tears.

"But don't you think that will be inappropriate. What if they find the truth? Truth can't be hidden for a long time and you know it", Nithin said.

"Yeah, but I don't know a better solution than this. If you have one, then I'll accept it sir", Kruthika answered in grief.

Nithin didn't answer to this. He fell silent.

"Aunty can I get a glass of water?", Kruthika asked Suman.

"Uncle, did Karthik say you anything serious or important that I should know about him before his death. Like it may be few months or year before his death?!!", Kruthika asked Nithin once she made sure Suman want around.

"Yeah it's that.....", Nithin stopped continuing when Suman came with a glass of water.

"Suman, why don't you make something as snacks? It's been long time Kruthika came to our house. Hmm", Nithin said to Suman.

Suman went inside the kitchen to make some snacks for them. Even though they had a sweet shop, Nithin always preferred home-made sweets and snacks. Now it was just an excuse for him to send Suman inside kitchen as they both wanted to discuss something private.

"Yeah, your brother gave me a journal to handover it to you", Nithin said, he went inside and brought a book which was heavily decorated.

"Here it is", Nithin gave it to her as he said.

The journal was covered with a blue sheet, it looked very fancy, like there were stickers sticked to it. The book was covered with glitters and smiley's sticked to the book. When one sees the book they would feel like this is a project work done by a five year kids to impress teacher with more marks.

"Is this what my brother Karthik gave to you", Kruthika asked in confusion.

There was a reason for it, Karthik never liked to decorate his book, he never liked smiley's and glitters since his childhood.

"Yes, it's his only", Nithin said assuring her.

"Well there's a saying that one should not interfere in others matters. I'm sorry that I tried to read his journal just it of curiosity why he wanted to give this to you. But I was not able to understand it", Nithin said with guiltyness and was a sort of review about the journal.

"Okay uncle. Thank you. I would like to take a leave now, I have loads of work pending", Kruthika said and took leave.
