Chapter 44: Svarna Sweet shop
She cried hardly, she couldn't control her tears.
Something fell to ground from the from the shelf because of the wind which blow from the windows.
She step down from her bed approaching the switch button to turn on the light. She found it was a letter which was addressed to her not stamped, the words were written by Karthik she could find it by his pearl like handwriting.
She found it strange. She opened it and started to read.
'I found the way to achieve my dream. I can't describe it here. If you are reading this, it means something has already went wrong with me. May be I'm dead by the time you read it'
Kruthika felt scared as she read the last sentence. She continued to read.
'Yes! You got it right Kruthika. I wrote this letter while I was alive. I'm an introvert and had many secrets with me. Just remember about my present which I have it to you from my salary on our birthday to you'
She finished reading the letter. It shook her for a minute.
'He knew he will be dying early or soon enough while he wrote the letter. But what made him to feel so. Rohit only said that he predicted past was he able to predict future also??' Kruthika thought hardly.
"Present he gave to me from his salary on our birthday!! All he gave is only blessings of his and bought me some sweets..... Sweets. Yes this is it", she thought.
Kruthika and Karthik celebrated their birthday on September 14th, he sent her a letter this year. He wished her a happy birthday, since she was very fond of sweets, he asked her to have any sweet how much ever she wants that day from the shop.
Svarna Sweets shop is the shop owned by Suman's husband, Nithin, it is one of their branches. Kruthika went there and had whatever she liked and took parcel of her favorites. Karthik made an advance payment to them.
This was their little secret between them because if there parents get to know about it, they'll definitely get a class about how to save the earnings, how to stay healthy, sweets are bad for your teeth and the list goes on.
Kruthika remembered it and smiled at herself, the curves of her lips again came down when she came to present.
Morning....
"Dad, I'll just visit Manasa's home. It changes my mood a bit", Kruthika said as she took the keys of the bike.
Karthik used to drop her when he was present in the home she never got an opportunity to ride it. She learnt to ride the bike when she came to home during her vacation. Within short span of time she was perfect with it, and she didn't have any sort of accidents.
"Wait. I'll ride you to her home", Madhusudan answered.
Madhusudan didn't go to his shop, he just thought of taking rest for some time.
"It's okay dad. Again you have to come to pick me up, why should I trouble you! You thought of taking some rest, I don't want to disturb it", Kruthika answered.
"No dear. Even I'll get environment changed if I drop you", Madhusudan said and took the keys from her hand.
Kruthika understood her father's motive behind it, he just didn't want to lose her at any cost. She didn't decline it as it would hurt then further more.
They both reached to Manasa's home and Madhusudan returned soon as he dropped her.
"Just call me when you want to come", he said before he went.
Kruthika spent some time with her, though it didn't reduce her sorrow she wanted to enquire her about Nithin. They both usually lock the door of Manasa's bedroom while they converse with each other.
"Do you know anything about Nithin?", Kruthika asked her.
"Who? are you talking about that Svarna Sweet shop owner?", Manasa asked to confirm.
"Yeah. Same person", she answered.
"Well he's money minded person as my father once mentioned him. Why?", Manasa says.
"Nothing he didn't attend the funeral as far as I know. So I asked how is this person?", Kruthika tried to cover up.
"No he attended it, but you know not for a long time", Manasa answered her. She didn't fail to notice that Kruthika's eagerness to find about Nithin, but she wondered why!
"Kruthika what happened?? Is there any further reason to know about him?", Manasa asked her.
Karthik had already risked his life and lost it. Involving in his death matters means again risking one's life. Kruthika is willing to do it, but she don't want to lose any further lives.
"No, I just heard his wife Suman, pitying my brother's death, I wondered is she really doing it from heart or just flattering as she did it before", Kruthika lied.
She's very good at lying and portrays it as true.
Whereas Manasa knows her friend very well, she knew that it wasn't the reason. Since Kruthika was lying to cover the truth implied that she didn't want to share it with her.
If she really wanted to share it, she could have said it the moment she entered her bedroom. She thought to help her in this matter.
"Oh! Do you want to eat something?", Manasa asked.
"No, Manasa. I'm really not hungry. I would like to take a leave now", Kruthika said as she hugged her friend, "Thanks for standing with me in my worst time, when I really needed a backup from my friend"
"Don't you remember, 'I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU, WHEN THE RAIN STARTS TO POUR'", Manasa sang as she turned on the song.
They both sang together.
"Kruthika you've got many messages and calls from your friends in Bangalore on that day. I forgot to inform you", Manasa said.
"Oh! Thanks for reminding me Manasa, I almost forgot that I've to inform them and take their advice about my next step regarding examinations", Kruthika said.
