Chapter 43: The only ray of hope and joy

The way Rohit was saying it seemed he was saying the truth genuinely without altering it.

"He was like you know.. always alert. He was a good observer. He sometimes guessed the things very precisely as if he had seen them. It happened only once or twice and I still wonder how did he do that", after saying so Rohit lost in his thoughts.

"Like which sort of things are you talking about Rohit?", Kruthika asked him.

"Like you know... it's common that friends have few fights and misunderstandings. I remember only one incident exactly how it happened and why did I state it you will get to know. I don't want to give you half information about the thing which I don't know completely. Half knowledge is more dangerous", Rohit said.

Kruthika nodded her head to this, agreeing to last statement.

"Once I was upset with him I really don't remember why! He realised it and apologised me about it and said something about past which I've never discussed it with any of my friends. I still wonder how did he know about it when I didn't say anything about it to anyone", Rohit narrated.

'Karthik never behaved like that atleast when he was here. I can't even state it completely because he always hid his emotions and never shared his feelings', Kruthika thought.

"And yeah now I remember another one completely. He didn't attend the classes for one whole day. He just said to me that he was not feeling well, I gave him some tablets and asked him to rest. During that day, the classes didn't run according to scheduled time table. None of the students nor lecturers had any idea about it. Due to some sudden meeting, the time table got messed up".

"One lecturer, Sampat sir, he didn't have his class on that day, he took like continuosly two hours. And the rest two hours, we like students had fun. Mobile phones are strictly not allowed in whole campus. I returned to room, soon after the class ended. Karthik was doing his meditation, he asked me 'How did Sampat sir's class go?' and 'Till which topic did he complete?'"

"I was shocked like 'how did he know?' But I can say it that it wasn't a mere guess or prediction or anything. He asked me as if he had seen it. When I said what happened in class, he nodded his head in response as if he was cross checking the answer", Rohit completed.

"I wanted to ask any of his family members, about this behaviour of his but I couldn't do it. He even predicted that I was framed out by this behaviour of his. I don't know how he did that!!", Rohit shared his thoughts.

"He was a weirdo since he's childhood. He never shared his feelings buried them deep within his heart. And I never saw him stressed about anything. Never!!", Kruthika answered.

"Didn't you say that Karthik did meditation! During which year did this precisely happen?", Kruthika asked.

"It happened during our fourth semester. He did meditation like from mid of first year or something. I don't remember exactly. Why didn't he had this habit from here itself?", Rohit replied.

"Yes, he had but he said to me that he couldn't practice it because he stayed in hostel when I asked about it", Kruthika lied to him. She didn't want to freak him more as he was already freaked by her brother.

"Thank you so much Rohit. For answering all my questions in detail", Kruthika thanked him.

They both came down, by that time her parents were at home finishing the funeral.

Kruthika sat beside them near their legs, while they sitting on the sofa. All of them were in pain of losing Karthik.

Kruthika had many tasks to complete to give her examinations since she skipped now and to find out the secrets of Karthik.

First task was easy to finish. But for second task she didn't know from where to begin with.

She had this wierd feeling that something mysterious was hidden behind Karthik's death and she was not letting go of it that easily.

It was like she was blindfolded and asked to search for a sword in darkness. But she got a clue, as far she knows Karthik he didn't practice any yoga and meditation while they both stayed in home town.

'What exactly inspired him learn yoga and practice meditation? How was he able to predict the things which he never seen and hear?', these questions troubled her.

She didn't want to leave her parents alone at home in this state. Each and every nook and corner of the home reminded them of Karthik. They sort of went into depression.

Madhavi and Madhusudhan feared about Kruthika, now she was their only ray of hope for their existence. 'What if something happens to her and what if we lose her!!' these thoughts of losing their beloved daughter haunted them.

The sorrow of Karthik's death was on one side and fear of losing Kruthika now their only child left was on other side.

Madhusudan came and sat beside the bed on which Kruthika fell asleep. His massaged her head with affection, love and fear. He pulled the blanket over her till her neck and cooked her face in his hands.

"I don't want to lose you my dear. You are the only ray of our joy now. Please God dont take her away from us", Madhusudan talked to himself.

Madhavi entered the room, she heard his words, she stood by his side.

"Nothing will happen to her. You should be the one to console her and motivate her to stay strong but you are crying here sitting infront of her when she's asleep. Come let's go", Madhavi whispered to Madhusudan, she was almost crying.

"You are right Madhavi. You are right", Madhusudan said and breathing heavily he left the room looking at Kruthika.

Soon after they left the room, Kruthika was awake and was listening to their conversation. She cried hardly, she couldn't control her tears.

Something fell to ground from the from the shelf because of the wind which blow from the windows.
