Chapter 33: Announcement of result
Madhusudan and Kruthika returned to home afternoon. They had their lunch together, Kruthika didn't eat her food properly since she was worried about her result.
"Mom, I can't have more food. It's enough for me", Kruthika said as her mother passed her roti.
"Look, result is gonna be okay. I have confidence on you, you have written your exams well then result will go good. Now have this roti", said Madhavi as she forcefully placed the roti on Kruthika's plate.
She gave a disgusted look at her mom and continued to have food. Karthik was laughing at her.
"Shut up and have your food Karthik", said Kruthika.
"You can't order me what I should have", said Karthik.
"Shut up you both and eat your food silently", Madhusudan said in anger because he was not able to listen to the news because of fight.
The clock ticked 2:45 Kruthika, Karthik and Madhusudan hurried to internet center to check their results online. They reached there at 2:53 and lined up to the counter.
"We need only one computer for three of us", said Madhusudan to the person at the counter.
"Okay. Go to the second system on your left", said the person.
Madhusudan went there and sat on the chair while Karthik and Kruthika stood by his side. Soon after the digital clock on the bottom right of the pc ticked 3:00, they logged into the state board website and checked Karthik's and Kruthika's result.
Karthik gained 91 percentage in commerce, secured out of out in two subjects and lost few marks in languages. While Kruthika secured 91.5 percentage in science, and scored out of out only in mathematics subject and scored good in languages.
After checking their results Madhusudan was happy, he took the print out of the sheets and also sweets from the shop.
"You both did well. Very good. Very good. Your mother will be much more happier than I am", said Madhusudan.
"Who do you think have come first to college in science and commerce?", asked Kruthika to her brother.
"I have no idea. I think everyone would have done well. It's hard to guess. We'll call our lecturers in evening they'll know for sure", said Karthik.
"Yeah. Dad can we go to home now?", asked Kruthika to her father.
"Okay. Your mom has called me five times now", said Madhusudan with a smile.
They reached the home. Madhavi was waiting for them.
"What was the result? How much did you both score?", asked Madhavi.
"Look at yourself", said Madhusudan and handed the marks sheet.
"Very good both of you. Very good. I'm so proud of you both", said Madhavi after looking both of their marks sheet.
They ate the sweets in happiness of results. In evening they called thier college lecturers.
"Good evening sir. It's me Kruthika sir", Kruthika said.
"Yeah Kruthika congratulations. You are third to the college in science", answered her physics lecturer Vedant, "But you could have done much better in my subject. I was expecting more. You have lost five marks in it"
"Sorry sir. Didn't I say you that I messed with one five marks question. But I've written all one mark questions correctly", said Kruthika.
"Ignore it. But I'm happy that you have the knowledge in this subject. I'm satisfied", said Vedant sir.
"Thank you sir. Who came first and second?", asked Kruthika.
"Abhinav came first and Parikshit came second. You and Parikshit have a difference of two marks. Whereas Abhinav and you have difference of five marks", said Vedant sir.
"Oh that's nice", said Kruthika.
"When are you giving us sweets then?", asked Vedant sir.
"Tomorrow sir. Okay sir I'll call you later. Thank you sir", said Kruthika and ended the call.
"So which rank are you to college?", asked her mother.
"Third in science. Abhinav came first and Parikshit came second", answered Kruthika as she handed the phone to Karthik.
"Hey Karthik. Why don't you call your lecturers?", asked Madhavi.
"No mom. I don't want to. Tomorrow any way Kruthika is going to give sweets right. She'll enquire about me also", answered Karthik.
"Who said I'm gonna enquire about you? Do your job by yourself. I'm not your servent to listen to your order", Kruthika said in response.
"Okay. I'm not eager to know my rank. I've knowledge and I'm satisfied by it. Mom was the one who was keenly interested to know at which position I stand in college", replied Karthik.
"You are really insane. Every student want attention and applaud from everyone who have scored your marks and you are here sitting like a saint and saying philosophy. Be practical", said Madhusudan who was listening to their conversation and acted as if he was reading newspaper.
It was his attitude towards the world which made problem to Madhusudan. He knew that Karthik is clever and intelligent but he is also too much like saint and into philosophy. He never expected any thing from any one, he never hurts anyone, if anyone needs help he'll be the first one to help the needy.
"Dad please. What will one gain by publicity? You answer me", said Karthik.
Madhusudan didn't knew answer. Kruthika and Madhavi looked at him keenly waiting for an answer. This was their usual fight, and Karthik always wins it.
"You cannot ask anyone to follow this or that. I've my freedom of following my own thoughts and principles. I just want to be the simple man helping my country and my mother land", said Karthik.
