Chapter 32: Did the sun rise in west?
Kruthika felt guilty for lying to her parents about the boy. But she had to. She didn't want to hurt her parents again by reminding those memories which they have lost.
Six years back....
It was friday morning 6 am, Kruthika who woke up early that day and was in tension.
"Did the sun rise in west today? I can't belive it", Madhavi said as she was arranging the things in their original place which were used by her children and they failed to keep them to their places.
"Ha ha. Very funny. Today is my result have you forgotten it. I didn't get sleep all night. I don't know how Karthik's still sleeping?", said Kruthika being arrogant by the question her mother asked her.
Yes everyone was shocked to see Kruthika waking up so early which happened only during festivals and exams. During festivals her parents and her twin brother Karthik wake her up and during exams she wake up with help of alarm.
Karthik resemble Kruthika in looks, he had same eyes as her and same jaw line. He was heighter than her and was more masculine.
While Karthik was opposite of her, he can wake up early in morning without anyone's help but he don't want to wake up during exams. He never does what Kruthika want to do just to irritate her. Today was the announcement of result of class twelve which is a held by the State education board.
"Karthik wake up. Are you not even a bit tensed about your result which is to be announced today?", asked Kruthika as she shook the shoulders of Karthik.
"You may have be tensed. But I'm not. Because I belive in my knowledge, in knowledge there is no fear of marks. A piece of paper can't decide my future. I'm the one who decides it", said Karthik as he woke up.
"You have gone nuts. Don't say all your attitude thoughts which you stole from some social media. I woke up earlier than you today", said Kruthika and stressed her last sentence as of she has achieved something.
"You woke up early only for today not daily right. Mom say me who's your good child? Is it me who always wake up early in morning or is it your daughter who wake late daily", asked Karthik to Madhavi, as he woke up from bed.
"For me it's both of you. You wake up early and sleep early, you help me in my chores and even you cook well. And Kruthika wake up late and help your father in his business in the shop. What more can I ask? Hope your result goes good and you get a good seat in a good college", said Madhavi hugging them.
They both got ready and went to temple together to seek blessings of God. They sat in the temple yard.
"What did you pray?", asked Kruthika, she was wearing her yellow kurta and legging which she assumed it to be her lucky dress.
"One should not disclose their wishes to others. There's a chance that it might not fulfill", said Karthik, he was wearing orange colour t-shirt and jeans.
"I wonder sometimes why I don't resemble you", Kruthika said looking into his eyes.
"Shall we go now. Announcement is at 3 in afternoon right", Karthik said with a smile.
"Yep. Leave me at the shop dad said the goods is about to arrive and he needs my assistance", said Kruthika as they walked out of the temple.
"Okay", said Karthik and they went towards their bike. He rode the bike to the shop to drop her and returned home.
"Mom, can I ask you a question. Why do you teach the opposite for us? Like I'm boy so I should learn about business and Kruthika's girl she should learn about cooking. Right!", asked Karthik.
"You have asked this question like hundred times and I've answered you all the time you've asked me. I always wanted to change the system and it should start at home right", said Madhavi.
She continued, "Your father, he doesn't help me in my household chores, he might be having his problems in business but still. Similarly your father wanted me to lend a helping hand in his business where I'm weak at it. I don't want your life partners to face the same situation as we did. Being a boy you will learn about business if we teach you about it in few days, and she can learn cooking within few days, it's because of your gender. You will learn those things quickly, which you are meant to learn"
"Don't you think it's time where we switch our positions. I want to learn and do business in shop. Please let me do it", pleaded Karthik.
"Okay. Let me discuss it with your father tonight. Until then help me with it", said Madhavi.
Karthik was much more ambitious and had a clear vision of thoughts compared to Kruthika. While Kruthika had a very good memory power and good at finding patterns to any case. They both were good friends and fighted like enemies for silly things at the same time.
"Kruthika just check if all garments in the bill have arrived and cross check the total once again", said Madhusudan as he kept the boxes of garments before her and handed over the bill to her.
"Okay dad", said Kruthika and did as her father instructed to her. She handed the bill and said, "Everything's correct dad. You can cross check once again".
"There would be no necessary for that dear", said Madhusudan and gave the bill amount to delegate who came to recieve the bill amount after handing over the goods.
"So Kruthika, isn't today your result? How much are you expecting?", asked Anil recieving the cash from Madhusudan.
"I've no expectation uncle. I've just done my job and I'm believing God that he'll give me what I deserve. But I'm hoping for best", says Kruthika.
"Oh that's a wonderful answer. I'll take leave Madhu", said Anil and left.
"So what are you planning dear?", asked Madhusudan.
"I'm thinking to take aeronautical engineering dad. I think it's different and I don't want to end up in IT sector. I can't do coding. I really like aeronautics", said Kruthika.
"But you will have less core jobs in that field, you have to work very hard to get one. Can you do that?", asked Madhusudan.
"I think I can dad", answered Kruthika.
"Okay check the best colleges which provide such course, and also the carrier opportunities", Madhusudan said.
"Dad I've already made list of such colleges, I want to join in this college but it's in Bangalore. We don't have good colleges which provide such course here", said Kruthika.
"Okay. Let me think of it", said Madhusudan.
