Chapter 23: The one where she moves on...
Kruthika gave a see off to Rishi and returned to home, time was 7:30 pm. Everyone where were looking at expecting her to say something about Rishi, but she was depressed by Rishi said in cafe and didn't observe them.
Abhikshith thought Rishi may not be just her friend and he was right. Sachin couldn't bare the silence and broke it.
"Is he the one for whom you dressed up? Who is he?", asked Sachin.
"I saw him in the college but never knew who he was? Kruthika who is Rishi?", asked Anirudh.
"My parents saw an alliance for me, and he was their choice. So we met to know each other after our parents insistence", said Kruthika with a dull voice.
Abhikshith was disappointed, even though he was a good actor but he didn't knew acting without camera, he couldn't control his expression of disappointment.
"So did you like each other? What is your response to your parents?", asked Sudeep.
Kruthika sat on the sofa while everyone were asking her questions, she just felt very depressed and sad for Rishi. He waited so long just only to propose her waiting for the right time, but she didn't wanted commitment too early not when she is having heavy responsibilities on her shoulders.
"He liked me. He not only liked but loved. Whereas I rejected this alliance", answered Kruthika much more dully.
"Why, you did not like him? Or is there any other reason?", asked Abhikshith keenly who was eager to know what was the reason.
"I think it's time for dinner. What do you all think? I'll fresh up and come, we can have dinner together. Okay", said Kruthika trying to change the topic and went upstairs, time was 8:18 pm.
Everyone understood that she didn't want to talk more about it and everyone sat for dinner. They reheated the sabji in microvave and placed it on table before she came to table.
Everyone had their dinner silently, but Abhikshith didn't get an answer for his question. He thought to ask it calmly after few days. Kruthika just ate her food didn't utter a word to anyone which was very unusual of her, she didn't even ask how their day to them. As she was upset about Rishi.
She completed her dinner and went to her room to get dressed for her job. She went to her job catching a bus. On her way to the airport she expressed her confusions towards Krishna in German language, "I'm feeling very bad for Rishi. He has been waiting for years for this moment and I .... I rejected him. It doesn't mean that I've changed my mind but I feel very sad and guilty for it as if I've done wrong. I feel like I'm a bitch. I am so terrible. Wait, if he's good man that doesn't mean I should marry him. If he loves me that doesn't mean I should love him, and moreover to marry a person there are many factors that participate more than just love. There should be understanding, care, affection and love which I don't have for him I just do have sympathy for as of now. Krishna please help me. I'm so terrible".
She was just saying these words to Krishna and she meant it. She reached the airport half an hour early, and messaged Rishi as, I'M SORRY FOR WHAT HAPPENED. I NEED A FAVOUR FROM YOU PLEASE DON'T SAY MY PARENTS WHY I REJECTED YOU. JUST SAY YOU DIDN'T LIKE ME. PLEASE. WILL YOU DO IT FOR ME?
It was not first time for her to reject the proposals, she didn't feel terribly guilty for it. May be because they didn't love her the way Rishi did, waiting for years only to get rejected. She thought about it and came to the conclusion about moving on.
She thought of diverting her mind somewhere else. She took a book from her bag PRIDE AND PREJUDICE tried to read it. As she finished her first page of reading Emily came.
"Hey. So you are reading PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. It's nice", said Emily as she sat beside her.
"Hmm"krithika said and sighed.
"What's wrong with you?", Emily asked her.
"Nothing! I'm just involved in reading this book", Kruthika said and tried to smile.
"Everything's wrong. Look you are trying hard to smile. You are not smoking with your full heart, you are just pretending!", Emily said as she observed her.
"Oh nothing. Before reading this book I read another book with a sad ending. That's it", Kruthika lied.
"Oh yeah. Name that book", Emily demanded the name of book, because she knew Kruthika was lying.
"Harry Potter and the order of phoenix", answered Kruthika,"Harry saw the mirror that Black gave to him after Black's death. If he had seen it before going to the ministry things would be different. I could not stop being sad about it".
"Oh you silly girl. It's a fiction book. It's time we will be late come quick!", Emily said as she stood up.
They both reached the tower and began their work. Kruthika tried to focus rather than being guilty. She finished her work without any interruptions. She didn't even take a break from it, she was working continuosly keeping her mind but wander anywhere else.
She came to home around 7am in morning, it was a Saturday morning weekend had started for her roommates. On weekends all the guys usually go out for dinner or date, whereas Kruthika would just go for her job as she didn't have leaves on weekend.
After going for job she had come over her guilty for Rishi, she had almost forgot it, she was light hearted since she had already shared her uncertainties with Krishna (recorded it), in other words she came over it.
She opened the door, went to her room to get freshed up and came downstairs to kitchen to prepare breakfast. Abhikshith who woke up early in the morning just to get in talk with her, came outside of his bedroom as she returned from her work. He waited at the drawing room sitting on sofa, while she was getting fresh up.
"Hi good morning", said Abhikshith as Kruthika came down to prepare breakfast.
