Manasa came to recieve Kruthika at the station,Kruthika reached Manasa's home early morning. Manasa was basically from Mysore but family was settled in Hubli, she was a bit shorter than Kruthika and more fair than her, she had long jet black hairs and brown eyes. The moment they saw each other they both hugged each other in joy. It was more than two years since their last meet what could they expect at the moment when they saw each other.
Kruthika got a quick nap, woke up few minutes before sunrise. She engaged herself in the home chores, since wedding day's tomorrow everyone were busy in their work.
Kruthika was done with her morning activities, she was wondering to afford some help to the family.
"How was your journey dear?", came a sweet voice behind her, the voice belonged to Vaidehi, Manasa's mother.
"Well aunty it was good. What rituals are we performing today aunty?", asked Kruthika.
"Today's bangle ceremony in the morning and evening we have to do facial for the bride. Will you take the incharge of both these jobs dear? I couldn't find anyone, since you are like another daughter to me I'm giving you these responsibilities", said Vaidehi affectionately.
"Sure aunty I'm glad to take such responsibilities", said Kruthika with joy.
Kruthika usually liked to take responsibilities, and in her friend's wedding she loved it. In bangle ceremony, bride and women in her household wear green glass bangles. She completed both her responsibilities without any complications.
Next day was 28th April, D day in Manasa's life. Kruthika's parents arrived early in the morning to attend the wedding along with their daughter. Morning was haladi (turmeric) ceremony and evening was muhurt for their auspicious wedding. Haladi ceremony, a ceremony where turmeric is applied to bride and bridegroom on their face, hands and legs and alsowhere everyone apply haladi to each other.
Kruthika took incharge of bridal make-up of her friend. Manasa was looking as pretty as princess in her marron wedding saree, each and every jewellery she wore were in accordance with her saree. And finally in the evidence of purest quintessence-fire, three knots were tied and they took seven steps around the fire pit, taking the oath of life long togetherness by them.
Everyone's heart was overwhelming with happiness, her parents and her younger brother couldn't resist their tears of joy, as they were gonna miss their dearest daughter and playful sister in their home.
At wedding it's only the bride who's the most happiest and saddest person at the same time. Manasa and Vivek, the newly married couple hugged their parents and took their blessings, her parents wiped her tears and Vivek was assuring that he would look after her.
Official reception was held next day, 29th of April. Kruthika wore an orange colour cotton saree with open hair and wearing light makeup. Kruthika handed gift to her.
"Did I ask you to bring these? Didn't I mention to you like hundred times your presence is the biggest present and gift to me. Memory is bigger than any materialistic object. No I'm not taking this. I'm sorry", said Manasa as if she had faced betrayal, who was wearing purple colour silk saree and her pearl necklace and earrings. According to her it was betrayal, because Krithika initially informed that she would not bring any present but finally she brought it.
"Yeah but to remind you of our sweet memories I needed a materialistic object. So please accept my teeny tiny present!", requested Kruthika in sweetest way she could. Anyone in Manasa's place would have been melted by this and accepted her present, and so did Manasa.
Kruthika took a picture with new married couple, her parents and Manasa's parents. In the evening they arranged a dj party, where newly married couple danced together and so did every couple present over there. Music filled the atmosphere and Kruthika nodded her head to every beat and her lips were sinking to lyrics of the song.
"And... Manasa's wedding is over with colours and happiness", said Kruthika to herself,"Look how happy she is, I didn't see her blushing over these many years of friendship. Finally wedding's over without any complications and any problem. Thank you Krishna for making this happen"
"So when is your wedding dear?", came a voice behind her, again it was Vaidehi aunty.
"It's a long way to reach there aunty. Finally wedding is over by tonight and Manasa will be going to her in law's house. Isn't it hard aunty, to send her?", asked Kruthika with a bit of sadness in her eyes.
"Yes dear. Yes it's really hard to send our daughter to her in law's house. It's the sad reality of marriages", replied Vaidehi who was trying to control her tears, but ultimately her tears crossed their wells and came flowing.
"I'm sorry aunty I didn't mean to hurt you", said Kruthika who was trying to console her, but she couldn't.
"Don't be my dear. Don't be sorry. It is our fault. We know that she's a daughter and she had to leave our house one day, but still I forced her to study with us. We didn't send her out for studying to another town. If we had done that job before may be it would have been easy for us to control our emotions today!", said Vaidehi sobbing.
"You wanted to stay with her as much as possible aunty. There's nothing wrong here. But you have to move on and she's not going too far right, she'll visit you whenever you need aunty. Please control yourself", said Kruthika who finally said some valid words to console her.
"Yeah even that's true. Being a woman I shouldn't be like this", said Vaidehi wiping her tears,"Thank you dear for attending Manasa's wedding all the way from London. It means so much to her and to us"
"I should be present aunty. How could I even miss my friends wedding?", said Kruthika with a smile on her face.
