Chapter 3: Serve the guest
Auntie Cana invited me for breakfast. I told her that I'm hungry but she don't believe me. At the end, I joined them for breakfast. I can say that P'Cana is a good cook, I just think so because she fried the egg really well, I can't do that!
We're eating outside the house. Their place is quite wide, and the house looks good, simple but attractive.
After eating breakfast, I went outside to look around. I brought my phone with me just in case I want to capture some nice photos.
"Nana accompany our guest around!" I heard Auntie Cana shouted followed by the tall man complaining, "Shia, stop complaining Banana! He is an important guest!"
Banana?
"Mom, stop calling me by my first name!" Then he followed me outside with heavy footsteps. It's obvious that he don't want to.
I acted like I'm just walking by my self. I love around me before taking a deep breath.
"Shia!" I cursed from the bottom of my lungs.
"Oi, don't shout!" the tall guy behind me scolded.
I looked at him frowning before I rolled my eyes. I continue moving forward and stop when I saw that terrifying dog. I slowly walked backwards like I did earlier, while the giant animal in front of me moves closer to me.
"Banana" I called but I heard no response, "Banana!"
"What!?"
"Help, your dog is here again!"
He chuckled, "It's okay don't be scared. I told you already that he likes you"
"But I don't!"
I runaway behind him that made his dog run after me. The dog tried to catch me while running around his owner who has no plan to help me. Suddenly, his arms grab my wrist tightly that hinders me from running farther.
"What are you doing!?" I tried to grabbed my wrist away from his but he's too strong. I can't escape, I can't run away anymore!
"Relax, just close your eyes and let him sniff you for a while"
"Are you crazy!?" I shouted, "What if I smell like a meat for him?"
"But he like bones more" he laughed but his expression became serious, "Maybe he thought you're a bone because you're too thin?"
"Thin my ass, just pull him away!"
He shock his head laughing, "Just close your eyes. He will sniff you for a moment then he'll go away"
He really think that his dog likes me? If that creature bite me, I swear I'll chop this guy into pieces once I recover!
At the end, I followed what he said. I closed my eyes then bit my lips. My body is still shaking. I suddenly feel something sniffing my feet, it was tickling that I almost want to laugh. The nervous inside me starts to decrease that made me slowly calm my self. But I'm still not opening my eyes.
"Why is it not going away?" I asked
"Maybe he's thing wether to devour you or not"
"Stop making fun of me!"
Things turns crazy for me when I felt the dogs paw on my butt. It made me open my eyes wide is surprise. The tall guy in front of me laughed when he saw my reaction.
"What the hell!"
I managed to grab my arms from him because he's not holding it tightly anymore. I run as fast as I can not knowing where to go. I thought it was a good idea but the his dog run after me.
"Shia, I swear I'll tell Auntie Cana that you didn't help me!"
"I did. I told you not to run but you didn't listen!"
I'm almost running out of breath. The dog outrun me taking a huge leap to my back that made me fall to the ground.
THIS IS MY END, MOM I'M NOW FOLLOWING YOU UP THERE, I'M STILL YOUNG BUT IF THIS IS MY FATE THEN SO BE IT, HUHU.
I felt something wet on my ear. This damn dog is licking my face! After doing it four eight to nine times it walked away from me.
Thanks God, I'm not made deliciously for dogs or else I'm dead!
Nana laughed out loud before he helped me stand up. I clean my self, brushing the soil away from my shirt with my hands.
"I'll let Auntie Cana revenge for me later!"
"Are you trying to scare me?" He laughed while gently stroking the dog's head like he's proud that it catch me, "by the way why are you calling mom auntie instead of P'? Are you a foreigner?"
P' is how we basically address older people than us here in Thailand, I know that because that's one of the things mom always told me. But since I grew up in the Philippines with my half Filipina grandmother and stayed there for 8 years, I'm used to addressing others the foreign way. Then mom took me and let me continue my study here when I was in grade 3. At first I tried to try using it but sometimes I'm more comfortable with the other way.
"Uhm, I'm one fourth Filipino and three fourth Thai"
"Are you a pizza?"
Shia, I thought I'll start having better conversation with this bastard but I'm wrong.
I rolled my eyes at him before walking back to their house. Auntie Cana is busy sweeping the floor when I came.
"Ren what happened to you? Your shirt was dirty"
"Polca leaped behind him mom that made him fell to the ground"
"Really?" Then Auntie starts to laugh.
"And your son didn't even help me even if he knew that I'm scared to that dog" I tried to act sad in front of him and want her to feel pity.
I succeed because he walked towards me and gave me a hug. I don't know what comes into my mind but I unconsciously placed my head on her shoulder.
"It's okay Ren, soon you'll be comfortable with Polca. For now go inside and take a bath"
I nodded.
"Nana, help her arrange his things after in our rest house"
"He will stay there?" Auntie responded with a nod, "But mom!?"
"What's wrong with you? I thought we're done talking about this?" She yelled at him.
It seems like he don't agree with the idea of letting me stay there. HE MUST HAVE HATE ME SECRETLY, TSK.
"It's okay Auntie, I think I'll just go back home" I smiled at her with teary eyes then I looked at the other one, "I know you don't want me to stay there and I understand"
"It's not like that but—"
"I do really understand, I'll just go back home"
"No, of course you can stay here" Auntie rubbed my cheeks gently. She looked at her son frowning, "Nana, you're scaring him away!"
"Aish!"
"Auntie thank you for letting me come here, I think I have to go now"
"AISH, STOP THAT. FINE YOU CAN STAY THERE BUT IN THE OTHER ROOM!"
"But it's not okay for you"
"I SAID IT'S FINE!"
Everything is going according to my plan. Of course I can go back to bangkok right now. If I have to act pitiful to stay here, why not?
"But you're shouting, are you angry?"
"I'M NOT!"
"Yes, you are. I'll just go home" I still maintain my pity face while smiling to Auntie who's still frowning at her own son.
"If Ren go back home, then I will lessen Nana's allowance in school" even if she said that in a calm voice, I know that she's mad now.
"Mom!"
"If you don't want to, then convince him to stay!"
"Aish!"
I looked at him sadly but deep inside I really wanna freakin' laugh so hard. He is obviously scared to his mother.
"Don't go home please, I can't survive with two hundred baht!"
Really? But for me it's enough. I can even buy two sandwiches for recess, and ramen for lunch in school.
I nodded, "but you have to say PLEASE"
"What!?"
I pouted, "I'll just go home"
"Okay fine!" He shouted, "Stay here"
Where's the please?
Say that word, please.
Say PLEASE
He sighed, "Stay in the same house with me, Please"
I don't know but instead of laughing inside because of that. It made me feel embarrassed. My cheeks is heating up and I don't know why? I'm not even sick.
Set that aside, I really need to take a bath now.
"Okay" I smiled, "Auntie I can't go home. I want to spend my break here, can I?"
"Of course!" She exclaimed.
The tall guy who obviously look jealous because of his mom being sweet to me dragged me inside while holding my arms. If he's not bigger than me and taller than me, he won't dare to do that because I will surely hit him.
He let go of me when we're inside their house already. I immediately open my luggage to get my towel before taking a bath.
"Hurry up, take a bath immediately then clean your room"
"Aw, you should be the one to do that"
"When mom is not around, you dare to show me your true color"
I smirked.
"You clean your room by yourself, then after that we'll talk about the rules"
"Rules?"
"Yes, since you're staying with me there, you have to follow my rules"
I frowned, "I'll report you to Auntie"
"Try to do so and you'll not be able to walk tomorrow"
"What will you do? Spank me like a kid? Too old"
He smiled at me then put his arms across his chest, "Of course no"
He slowly walked closer to me, "I'll do it the way how husband make his wife happy in pain"
It took me a second before I understand what he meant. I looked away from him when I felt something warm on my cheeks. IS HE A PERVERT?
I went to the bathroom immediately to avoid more conversation with him. If I didn't do so, he might tell me something embarrassing again.
I'm still shaking even if I'm fully dressed already after taking a bath. The cold temperature of the water still remains on my body.
The tall guy already brought my bag to the next house, so I went there without something in hand. Seems like he left the gate open for me to come straight inside. When I went inside the house, I saw him drinking a cup of coffee while watching cartoons. He noticed me coming so he looked at me.
"Your stay at the last room upstairs, I placed the cleaning materials you'll need at the door. Tell me if your done then transfer some pillows from my room to yours"
"Are you not going to help me?"
"No"
I went upstairs straight to the room he was referring to. The room doesn't look that far from mine back in bangkok, but my room there is a lot better. The bed is a nit small than mine also. But I'm not in the position to complain, besides Auntie let me stay here for free.
I started sweeping around. I realize that taking a bath before doing this is not a good idea. I opened the windows and the wind blow straight to my face that made me feel cold again. This is one of the reasons why it's good to stay in a place like this. Less appliances that requires electricity likes air conditioner and electric fan, less expenses.
After making sure that the room is clean already, I sat on the bed for a moment. Later on, Nana came with a pile of pillow on his arms. I tilted my head and looked at him confusedly.
"You said I have to carry it myself then why are you doing that?
"Okay, I'll put it back there and you carry it"
I immediately jump out of the bed and grabbed his shoulder when he looked back to go to his room.
"I was just acting a question"
I grabbed the pillows from his arms and placed it on my bed. I looked at him with satisfaction and then he leave.
