Chapter 554: LOG 3: The Mysterious Man

The moment was now for me to have my lunch. The port of Wagner is only a few miles from here, according to the captain. Less than an hour or two was what we needed left before docking.

On my way to the cafeteria, there were some interesting people that I've encountered. Most of them had instruments. This Arid Archipelago is truly devoted to music in my opinion.

At the Cafeteria, I bought Pork Loin Cutlets, and of course, I couldn't forget to buy orange juice. They had my favorite brand. It made me remember of those twins who were always enthusiastic and with high spirits whenever they prepared orange juice for me. It made me wonder what they're currently up to in the Sinnoh Region. They would somewhere be in the age of fourteen or fifteen if I reckon.

I went to the deck thereafter where I would settle with me and my Pokemon's meals. Most people were at the canteen, and I figured that it wouldn't be much crowded, giving me my share of the frontal breeze.

I ate in peace under an umbrella stand though I was constantly disturbed with two individuals. One of them was old. He had a soul patch mustache and a fine cloudy beard. He looked like one of those intelligent, historic, scientists, and surprisingly, also had a tobacco pipe with him. He had a monocle embellishing his right eye and dons a velvet tuxedo.

Beside him in the same umbrella stand he was at was a woman. It was impossible to deduce that she is the man's wife, unless, he married a teenager. Yes, the woman looked like a teenager, even younger than me, I suppose. It could be his daughter if I were to guess. She looked stern, maybe a bit sober, with eyes of pale and hair of auburn. She wore rich garments like the old man which made me conclude that they're aristocrats.

They were drinking tea together without any smiles in their faces. But the reason why they piqued my interest every so often was because of their constant stare at me. I kept wondering what wrong I was doing that would make them lock their eyes on me while eating.

They could possibly be thinking to be friends, or maybe form an acquaintanceship, but with their smug appearances, that doesn't seem to be the case. They only broke off when someone from afar called my name.

The running little guy whom I consider a lad, Logan, came forth with his plate of Magikarp fillet and Vanilluxe Ice cream. He and his team of six were energetic, though I can't say I wasn't expecting that.

"You're going to the region too?" I asked as he sat down beside me.

"Yes. That previous Pokemon League was the worse I've experienced."

"I can agree with you," I took a sip from my orange box. "So, you're going to do the oldest trick in the book? Isolating yourself from the region, training till sunset, until you become the very best?"

"Well... You summed up my purpose here in one sentence."

"Typical trainers," I shrugged with a smug. "Sooner or later, I'd see you're unable to talk."

"Are you comparing me with that red guy again?"

"Red."

"Yeah, him."

"Perhaps. Anyway, I could imagine the two of you fighting. You'd get beat up with one Pokemon."

"Is that how strong he is?"

"Yes. Powerful, I must say. The strongest person I've met, next to some Ethan guy in Johto. Actually, the more trainers I meet, the more weaker they seem. Not that I was trying to mock you or anything." I teased.

Logan pouted. "I'll be strong some day. Consider me in an intermediate level."

"Those words sound familiar. Hmm, if I'm mistaken, it's been twenty three years and that trainer from the television has only won a single Pokemon League."

"And it's been my third year and I've only been a victor."

"Hey? That's improvement at least."

Another one called our names. It was Dawn. Two trainers in one ship, I do hope they don't plan to go along and ask me to join their "journey" to the wilderness.

"I didn't know the two of you are on board."

"Yes. I'll be doing some training. Once I'm powerful, I swear I'll be the next champion of the Unova Region."

"Oh, and you Luna?"

"Vacation," I replied with poise.

"Cool. I'm off to go exploring. Have you ever heard the myth of Meloetta? I want to find her. Who knows? Maybe she'll be part of my team!"

The mysterious man's brows rose.

I heard him conversing with his assumed daughter. "So, they're aware of her," he said in a brittle voice.

The woman flung her shoulders and continued drinking her tea. There was no response from her.

"I've heard a thing or two about that Pokemon. Nevertheless, I don't think I'll go look for it," said I.

"Oh. It's a mythical Pokemon," Dawn said. I was beginning to suspect all this was just for the purpose of making fun of me because they know I'm a member of Team Rocket.

"So? I'm in vacation. I'm a free woman."

"This, Meloetta. She's the singing Pokemon right?"

"Yup," Dawn confirmed to Logan.

"Well, I hope I meet it her some day."

"You can meet her, but she'll be mine to persuade."

"Persuade? You're not going to catch her?" I asked.

"No, no. If she doesn't join my team, that's not my fault. I won't abuse her just so she could be caged inside a Pokeball for collection unlike what you crooks do."

I frowned. "What was that? We don't do that!"

"You're a member of a mafia!"

"So? That doesn't mean we imprison Pokemon! You trainers use them for personal glory and being on top of every billboard."

"And what do you call black marketing Pokemon then?" Dawn argued.

"That was before! Giovanni's dead."

"Hey, hey, enough. Both sides have a point." Logan went in between us. "Let's just hope Luna's true to her words. Vacation, and not an expedition to capture a Pokemon."

"Of course not."
