Chapter 3: 3 Rules
I almost got blinded by the sudden brightness of the screen. One by one, the list of choices of foods appeared. There are even dozens of filters to select to narrow down the food that you want to eat from breakfast meals right until midnight snacks.
Bert ordered a bunch of dishes and a bucket size soda right away. Assuming Bert would pay for it, I ordered some dishes I saw on the internet like that Wagyu steak and also a bucket size mountain dew.
Five minutes into ordering, someone came knocking on the door. It was the catering crew and one by one they entered with trays of food and literally two bucket size drinks.
"How much did you pay for this really?" (Raven)
"I don't know. Let me check." (Bert)
Bert unlocked his tablet and showed me the balance. The estimated amount is about two hundred thousand gold coins. The last transaction amounted fifty thousand gold coins.
"How did you get this large amount of money?" (Raven)
"Well, if you check your tablet too, we have thirty thousand gold coins of balance each at the start. Remember that I told you about the Gladiators fighting on the screen, I gambled on three matches and won. Here let me show you. 'Screen:Arena Mode." (Bert)
List of matches appeared on the screen. Bert explained that they are having a hundred arena battles per day. There is only three chances per day that you can bet on matches and he won three times.
"The other way to earn gold coins here is to join the arena battles. I almost tried it before but Richard suggested to do it another time since he wants to tell us the rules and regulations around here. Plus, we need to get you a Gladiator avatar too so you can join in the fun." (Bert)
"So we are waiting for this Butler guy. Then why the heck did you choose me? I don't have any other fighting skills so I can't help you with that." (Raven)
"Reason huh? Well, you are my best friend after all. I trust you, and I got the feeling I need reliable allies for me to be successful. That's what I saw on an interview for motivational speakers hehe. Look dude, I told you, we have a chance to get rich here. Remember the money I gave you, it came from here. I exchanged two hundred gold coins for real world money and that became a hundred thousand dollars." (Bert)
"Really? That's awesome." (Raven)
I have thirty thousand gold coins and converted that's going to be fifteen million. That's a lot of money. Bert is right. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
We waited for almost an hour before someone knocked on the door again. This time, it was not human when Raven opened the door. Richard The Butler is a ghost wearing butler suit and the only thing that stopped me from freaking out is the name tag he is wearing.
"Apologies for disturbing your meal gentlemen. May I come in please?" (Richard)
Bert yeah joyfully and let the ghost in.
"I don't want to waste your time since I can feel that Master Robert wanted to go the arena as soon as possible. As you know you did not get to participate the Grand Coliseum through normal means so technically you are an outsider. I already made up a video presentation of what you need to know before going in. Please do your best not to ask your questions during the presentation and save it until after in which I will answer to my utmost abilities. Enjoy tonight's entertainment. The video started off a little too old for my taste with the cinema countdown. It is a twenty minute video presentation full of what we can expect moving on. In my head, I just summarize the important parts.
No. 1: The Grand Coliseum is the host for every kind of species for the whole universe. So it's basically Vegas and the whole universe is the customer. They are also a Bounty Hunter organization. I have to look up the specific details later.
No. 2: Everything in the Grand Coliseum can be bought and always will be negotiable by gold coins.
No. 3: Cheating is extremely forbidden and will result to immediate punishment. Immediate punishment equals to being excommunicated and will receive a hundred lashes using a god whip. Customers may die in the process.
No. 4: Only customers with an official tablet can enter and exit the premises and also enjoy the benefits the establishment provides.
No. 5: The Grand Coliseum will provide a viewing gallery for customers to use. Customers must pay a hundred gold coins each for the extended use of the room. Failure to pay will result to punishments all leading up to excommunication.
No. 6: Evey customer must participate into Arena Battles at least three times and Expedition once every month using their Gladiator avatars. Failure to participate will result to punishments all leading up to excommunication.
No. 7: There is a rule for every customer not to publicize the identity of the Grand Coliseum unless the customer will sign an agreement that they will need to buy a tablet for each individual with whom they are going to share the information.
No. 8: Every other details and updates are available on the tablet.
It's like discovering a powerful genie but instead of three wishes, you can have unlimited wishes as long as you can pay gold coins.
"What if you can't provide what the customer wanted, impossible things like bringing a person back from the dead or make someone fall in love with you, what would you then?" (Bert)
That's right. There are simply things that is impossible to provide. However, discovering this huge game, I don't know what's the limit of being impossible.
Richard The Butler was stunned for a moment before laughing crazily as if heard the biggest joke of the year.
