Fishing and Dueling Champ
Everybody was surprised to see themselves in a new virtual world which is designed like Pangaea supercontinent with no ownership as of now. Its a fresh world. Many were aware of this event but there were too many people who were unaware about the recent happenings like illiterate people of slums. In one such slum of India, an orphan guy named Harry was fishing in peace when suddenly fireworks lit up to welcome them to the Gamers World.
"Woah!!!!! What's happening?" Harry was surprised.
As expected Many people were panicked, "It's end of the world, God save us. We beg for mercy."
Harry sensibly tried to calm the crowd by his logic, "Hey shut up, do you really think that end of world can be this flashy. It's some sort of celebration in my opinion."
Harry started checking stuff near him and he noticed that everything now seems digitized and well explained. Every human/gamer around him has their names written on their heads. On checking stuff like stone it started giving explanation from wikipedia. Similarly he can see everything around him and all known information is provided to his head automatically about the object. This was applicable to all gamers. He was overjoyed by this as he always hoped to learn stuff from schools or colleges but he never had the money to do so. So one can say that Gamers World has automatically achieved an achievement of 100 percent literacy for the whole Earth.
Due to this even those illiterate people learned about games and understood the current phenomenon by reading global online news which is now accessible to everyone and anywhere free of cost. Harry didn't took much time to learn the basics of this new world. Anything is saleable online to the Gamers Union or Evil Union from anywhere. Virtual Currency is Dollars. Trading or dealing with them increase your relationship with those guilds and after certain contributions they may invite ordinary gamers to work for them as NPCs.
Village name was shown as Unnamed Village to all its residents. Most people kept doing their previous jobs for starter. Harry was good with fishing so he started Fishing in the nearby ponds and immediately sold most of his stuff which were frogs mostly. He ate few stuff to satisfy his daily needs as well. Personally he can see various other stats apart from his name like Hunger, Hygiene, Leisure, Strength, Defense, Speed, Mind, etc. and after fishing he added Fishing stat to them as well. Through Gameropedia Harry learned that skills are of various types. Three of them are most common :-
First basic needs like hunger, hygiene, etc. which are common for everybody. It's minimum is 0 percent and maximum is always 100 percent. They are measured in percentage and is usually satisfied by eating food, bathing, wearing clothes, resting in house etc. On reaching 0 percent on any of this can lead to diseases or even death.
Second type of stats are related to individual strength like strength, defense, speed, mind etc. These are usually identified by levels like a person with Strength level of 2 can beat another person with strength level of 1 easily.
Third type of stats are job skills like mining, fishing, woodcutting, pharmacy, scouting, researching etc.
Everybody is doing its respective work but with more dedication as if they are all playing game. Harry kept fishing and fishing for many days raising his levels like crazy which helped him efficiently catch the fish. But pond can't provide him high quality fish so he decided to search for lake near his village. Although whole world is converted into pangaea but locally most of the stuff is similar. And online wikipedia can help gamers locate most of natural/geographical stuff easily by a map like navigating feature. After walking 30km on foot he reached the lake when suddenly he heard a popup, "Congratulations for discovering unnamed lake, please name it.." Let's name it "Hari Lake". All around the Gamers world similar naming was being done by various gamers as this is a fresh world. But this comes with a risk too.
"Congrats on discovering Hari Lake. Beware of the new explorers as they can challenge you for renaming this lake. And this is for naming purposes only, nobody owns this lake. Only guilds are allowed ownerships of natural geographical stuff."
Harry started fishing for some real fish now unlike the frogs from the pond. He noticed that his fishing level was going up faster now with higher experience points due to better quality of fish. Also selling fish is generating more dollars in his virtual bank account. His contribution towards both Gamers Union and Evil Union was rising rapidly too. He had already made his mind to create his own guild so he is ignoring those contributions and sold his fish to the highest bidder only. He even sold some stuff to his fellow villager thereby getting himself minor village level title of "Local Fishing Champ". This title improves his fishing level by +5. Few other fishermen got jealous by this and started troubling Harry through vulgar comments. Unlike MMORPGs, scouting opponents stats is not possible in this Gamers World at least as beginner. But being most hard working in the whole village he was somewhat confident that he can beat these guys in a one on one fight. But in case if they decided to gang up then it will be different story. Harry decided to tolerate the bullying for now and concentrate to level up his strength instead. He checked the markets of Gamers Union and Evil Union to see strength raising medicines like Steroids. But all cheaper ones had a side effect of reducing another stat for raising strength. Then he looked at martial arts technique which seemed interesting with no side effects. Cost was 200 dollars but as a Local Fishing Champ he can afford that by spending all his fortune till now. He went bankrupt after purchasing it. However, He has enough contributions towards both guilds to join Gamers union or Evil Union. But he decided to exchange those contributions for dollars instead, making him rich amongst poor again. After using the technique he has a new stat added Martial Arts Level 0. Through online classes that can be accessed anywhere for some fees he started practicing basics to improve his Martial Arts Level to 5 within few days. He noticed that his strength improved to level 3 automatically. But he was not satisfied yet so he continued fishing and martial arts combo as his daily routine for one more week making levels up to 15, 10, and 5 in Fishing, martial arts and strength respectively.
All around the world many otaku gamers who were already knowledgeable about MMORPGs were learning multiple skills like Harry. In Evil Union, people were learning stuff like smuggling, assassinating, necromancy and other evil practices and magic etc.
After peaceful sleep, Harry went to Hari Lake for fishing. As usual Harry was bullied by rival fishermen around the Hari Lake. And one of the fishermen even challenged him in duel for renaming of the lake. Harry accepted the challenge immediately and just with a single punch disfigured the opponent's face. Lake's stats now showed a successful defense for current name which will warn future challengers that the current namer has defended the lake once. Watching the scene all other rival fishermen ganged up for their revenge. But one punch = one KO for all those fishermen who had a puny strength of 1 each. Also they don't know any martial arts.
Village peope awarded another title of "Local Duel Champ" to Harry which raised his strength level by 5. which means his strength is automatically 10 now. Soon a popup showed up, "Congratulations....."
