Chapter 11: Teacher & Student

Max and Kaede's bodies were left physically. But spiritually they were gone. Another reason why he wanted to teach her ninja techniques more, was for the benefits she would naturally receive in this state.

The ability to connect with the World naturally.

The actual metaphysical was a place that most never reaches anymore, not without several other factors involved. Several priests and monks no longer do it in modern times. And a lot of "undesirable" things were also needed for the non-magic to enter it.

"Wow, this is amazing!" Kaede exclaimed. She couldn't get over seeing all the colors more visibly. As well as the heightened state she seemed to be in. Her body was bursting with energy. More energy than she knew what to do with. Small currents flowed towards her from Max. "Are you giving me more power?"

"Yes and no. I am giving you "purity" to refine and taking away "corruption" from you." Max said neutrally. "I am giving more than what I am taking, but I am your Master. It is to be expected I do this much to protect you."

"Protect me from what?"

"Myself of course." Max gave a smirk. "I am, after all, a bad man. But to keep it truthful, it is to prevent any outside influence from messing with you. Your mind strengthens as your heart becomes one with it. Heart and mind... all those kinds of shenanigans."

"But your teachings say that.." Kaede stopped when she remembered one of the notes on the following page of that statement. "The truth is constantly changing. What is wrong, is what comes from my perception changing. I believe my heart matters so it does. It is not just an organ that does things to keep my body going."

"Correct. That is true for you and the majority of the World. For some, it means nothing but an organ. The mind is all that matters." Max weaved the surroundings into an endless ocean. "With magic, this can all be changed. With chakra as you were calling it, you can do the same thing. But for you, it requires more harmony with the World. Less knowledge learned, and more knowledge felt. Which is the worst thing in the way of training."

"Then I have failed." Kaede said feeling sad already. "I have wasted your time." The light around her turned a little murky. A response to what she was feeling. Max made his move. "Owww!"

*Twist!* He gave her cheek a swirl.

"I said that it is the worst thing in training. It breeds self-doubt. With you so young, that is the worst. At your age, you are very impressionable. Success is always something you tend to strive for. Even more so when I tell you to take breaks." Max had a serious expression on his face. He made a book materialize in front. "This is the book, of Ninja. Those I have trained, and those trained by the individuals I trained."

"This is a fat book." Kaede looked at the first few pages and realized she couldn't read most of it. It was not until she made it to the very end of the book after getting frustrated that she did. "Ha! My name!"

Kaede Nagase- Grand Jonin: Cyclone Mana technique. Status: Protected by her Master. Has no issues and is approved by her predecessors. Future outlook is endless.

"My predecessors..." Kaede looked over to Max whose eyes were closed. Black mana circulates around him creating a Cyclone. "He is so much higher than me. But he is not training it. Why?"

"To hand a part of my new insights over." Max opened his eyes. Showing pure black that causes Kaede to freeze up. She felt fear deep down inside. As if Max would eat her soul. "Calm yourself."

"I.. I. can't! You.." Kaede felt her mana run wild. She created a Cyclone wall to protect herself. "I do not want to die! Get away from me!"

*Slash!* Her arms passed in an x formation. Two gale-force winds traveled out. Max did not dodge them. Both gales were swept around him and went back towards Kaede.

"Get ahold of yourself child." Max said calmly. He figured this would happen. That fact she could talk was something to admire. The last student started crying and slashing wildly. "If you do not calm yourself, I will leave you here for eternity. It is not pretty for one so young."

"You are going to eat me! I do not want that!" Kaede yelled. Her arms spread as tornadoes formed behind her. Her mana was running rampant and finally started to injure her. "Kuk!" Swallowing some of her blood intensified her fear of living. "No!"

*Wooosh!* Both tornadoes swept passed towards Max who stood there. As before, they were swept away around his own and headed back towards her. This time, however, it caused damage.

"AAhhh!" Kaede screamed sliding across the air toward the water below. 'At the speed I am going at, the water might as well be steel.' That moment of clarity would end up hurting her more than anything. "Ummmpf!"

*Thunk!* The sound she made hitting the water was definitely not good. No splash as the properties of the water changed to suit her thoughts.

"Oh my." Max walked down as if he was descending a staircase. "Such a strong mind she has. If she gets it together, then this would be way easier." He stopped right above her, eyes still glowing black.

"Uwwuw. Do not kill me. Do not eat me." Kaede started to cry. She stared at Max and couldn't see anything besides a monster. "You are supposed to protect me and help me!"

"I am helping you. That is why I have not stopped what is going on. Unlimited growth is provided after all. This hurts so much because of your strong will. That and a lack of trust." Max was patient as he sat there. "I am here for you right now. I have what I need already. Just doing my duty as your Master is all. You can attack me as much as you want."

Kaede laid there for what felt like hours. Constantly thinking about how to escape and injure Max enough to get away. To find some kind of exit. The more she thought, the more she gained control. The murky light returned to a white color. Below, the water change back from steel.

*Splash!* Kaede fell in. The lukewarm water was not that great. It tasted like saltwater to her.

"Pffttt!" She spat it out as she started to tread water. "Gross! A little help please."

"What would you like?" Max asked. His head cocked to the side like an owl.

"To get out of this water!" Kaede was livid. She assumed it was the most natural thing. Then it hit her. "Wait.. why did you make a staircase?"

"I did not. You believe me to be sitting on a staircase. So to you, I am sitting on one. I am in that posture, yes, but that is to help you understand more."

"Mmmh..." Kaede imagined herself getting out of the water. In moments she rose up. Thinking her clothes were dry, they were dry. "That is cool. How did I do that teach?" She questioned Max and saw his image was that of him at school.

"Way of mana. The same way everyone does things here." Max said. His tone went to a neutral one again. "Not scared anymore?"

"No. Just glad you changed back to normal."

"I have been the same the entire time. The only thing I did was pass my insights to you. Everything else was your own doing." Max shook his head from side to side. This place is mostly all you. I am just a visitor now."

"All me.." Kaede stared at the endless ocean. Focusing she could feel a slight breeze passing over her head. Focusing she could feel higher up was almost a devasting pressure. The wind high above went so fast it would tear things apart with ease. ".. so violent."

"You are in turmoil." Max pointed out. "That is why I said to relax. Stop trying to figure me out. And figure yourself out first."

"Right." Kaede centered herself.

Time passed by unnoticed as the place reshaped itself. A small little tuff of dirt appeared at the center. Enough for a person to stand on. With a wave of her hands, A portion of the water floated toward her.

*Bzzzt!* A bolt of lightning traveled down from high above the wind entering her.

*Woosh!* A bit of the wind wrapped around her next.

"Condense!" Max ordered. Slowly they formed three little dots on her forehead. In the form of a pyramid was a green dot at the top. A white and clear dot for a base. Her three elements. "Congratulations, on making it through. I will see you on the outside."

"Wait!" Kaede grabbed Max into a bear hug. Almost cutting through his clothes with the strength of her wind. "Thank you so much! I am sorry I attacked you!"

"Calm down, let us have this talk on the outside." Max calmed her down. He was really not wanting to do this here. She was a lot stronger now and he would actually have to stop her if she lost control. "This is highly inappropriate for a minor." He teased.

"Ah get out!" Kaede shouted. Embarrassed for the first time really. "Oh my!" She looked as Max was pushed out.

.

-Living Room-

.

"Do you think they are ok?" Evangeline asked. She was staring at Kaede who had blood trickling down her mouth. Max looked fine but winced a little at one point. "This barrier prevents us from entering."

"I think they will be. Has Kaede changed to you?" Mana asked from the kitchen. "She was whipping up something to eat, despite how late it was. But they talked to Grimm for so long, that they missed dinner. "I just think she seems fairer somehow."

*Pulse!* A bit of magical pressure enveloped the room. First from Max, then to Kaede, then back to Max. It went on for several instances before stopping entirely.

*Shine!* Kaede glowed three times as large mana reserves coursed through her body. She looked a good bit stronger physically. As well as healthier.

*Crack!* Max's skin broke apart as his muscles underneath dissolved a little. Slowly they shred to reveal his muscle going away with his bones turning to dust. All that was left, was a soccer ball of mana that was already condensed to high proportions.

"What the hell is this magic?!" Evangeline cursed as she backed away. Mana stared on from the kitchen. "How much magic is he hiding?!"

"I do not know." Mana mumbled. The call from the ball of condensed mana made her heart hurt in various ways. She just couldn't describe how.

*Swirl!* Motes of light gathered from the floor. The magical formation under Max activated. His nerves and muscles started to reform. In several locations, his organs started to develop. Bones growing back as light magic lights danced all over.

"Branding... but why?" Evangeline recognized some of the spells for what they were. Containment spells to hide magic. Why Max had them on his bones, she had no idea. 'Why does this feel so old? Even older than..' Evangeline shook the thoughts away. Fear kept her from thinking too far in that direction.

"Ahhh much better!" Max stretched as he finished forming. With a simple thought, his clothes had changed to his pjs. "Way more comfortable now. Can relax and breathe easier."

"Max.." Kaede bowed to Max in respect. After thinking things over, she realized things could have gone a lot worse. "I will make sure I guard myself better next time."

"Hehe, no matter. What you did, made things much easier for me. I even skipped a tier thanks to your purity." Max rubbed her head as he made for his room. He gave a wave to Evangeline and Mana. Night all of you." As he opened the door, he made a mental note to check information about going to the Magic World. 'About time to go hunting.'

*Thunk!* Max closed the door jumping into his bed. He was out in seconds.

"Your purity?" Mana loomed over Kaede. What did he mean by that?" Her eyes stared down dangerously. "Tell me what you two just did."

"Just training.." Kaede felt a little playful so she teased her. "I mean he was so gentle at first then it got really rough." Feeling a bit of blood lust she made her escape. "I am really hurt, bye!"

*Scatter!* Leaves fell as Mana made for a grab.

"Get back here!" Mana raged like a dragon. Evangeline thought she saw fire appear for a second.

"She was just teasing you, calm down." Evangeline waved her hand over the area the two were sitting at earlier. A small smell to check things over. "They exchanged, if I am not mistaken, purity of the soul. Max took in her purity while giving some of his own. How many times it was done, I do not know. But he also took her corruption. How odd.."

Evangeline did not know how close she was to understanding what happened. It is not like she would go and ask what happened. What goes on between Master and Acolyte is something for them only unless she was invited in to discuss with them.
