Chapter 12: Baptism and Weapon's choice

Cecilia has been one of the High priestesses for more than twenty years already and being one of the few humans who had the privilege to see him, their Lord Lucifer, she was a faithful servant, always caring out any mission given and recently she received another. To test a newcomer said to be the one carrying the lord's hope for a change, the one that would suffer.

She decided to test him and the result was as expected beyond her wildest imagination.

'My Lord sure knows how to choose them. I'm sure this lad will accomplish great things.' She asserted.

After putting a small distance between them, Cecilia announced.

''I shall start.''

Dante stood there unmoving, waiting for her next move.

She was curious about what element he would awaken and how many of them it would be for his first baptism.

Clapping her hands in form of a prayer a radiant purple light poured out of Cecilia's body before wrapping around Dante's body, racing toward his heart, the moment it did his body trembled and his eyes became unfocused, darkness swallowed his consciousness, and once again the scene of the cosmos unfolded.

Uncountable stars sparkled in the black darkness.

The Milky Way seemed to cut the cosmos in half.

Dante's spiritual body floated in the air, he felt mighty here but he didn't let this sensation swallow him as he knew it was nothing but an illusion. If he desired strength he would do his hardest to acquire it not bask in this fake feeling of mightiness, nothing is almighty, surely not this feeling.

Shaking his head Dante let his spiritual body absorb the purer mana it could while at the same time he tried to get closer to the stars, there was one with purple color, a pitch black, dark yellow, light blue, and dark blue.

He could feel another galaxy existing beyond this current one but he was unable to go there.

'Let's choose here then.' He decided before moving toward two stars, his current limit.

The moment he connected with those two stars he was forced to wake up in the outside world.

Starting from his spine, an electrifying feeling spread across his body before settling on his left chest, a tattoo was etched there, the devil's stigma. There were two marks around the devil's stigma. The mana inside his body moved into the Devil's stigma, turning it more vivid, and then,

Blue lightning surrounded his body, there was red energy as well.

An overflowing power.

His body felt light as if some weight have been removed from his shoulders. He could feel the difference in his former strength even without checking his status update. No wonder they say you can only become a true Awakener upon awakening an element.

Although, it was just acquiring an element, compared to an awakener who didn't have any element yet the difference was clear.

''Congratulation on awakening two elements in your 1st baptism. Lightning and Fire?" Cecilia said not quite sure about the last one as the red mana inside Dante's body seemed to flicker, altering between red and dark red, which would mean it is a mutated element.

She was happy nonetheless, not many are capable of awakening two elements in their first baptism, and Cecilia have the feeling that this boy's body can undergo many baptisms as his strength grows in the future. She was quite looking forward to how many elements he would have at the end.

Dante who was busy feeling the change inside his body didn't pay attention to Cecilia who was looking at his body as if it was some kind of a rare treasure.

'It is good that I can now use elements but I must stretch my body to familiarize myself before joining Hunter's association.' Dante hypothesized and was thinking about how he should handle this problem it was then Cecilia's voice rang in his ears.

''For this exceptional result you deserve a gift but before that please choose a weapon,'' Cecilia said before flicking her sleeve and various weapons floated in the air.

Dante was in awe of her strength, a strength capable of dimensional magic. However, his admiration was short-lived as his eyes moved to the various weapons floating in the air. Axe, bow, glaives, gauntlets, Swords, whips, spears, mace, and so on.

His eyes lingered for a moment on them before finally landing on a normal-looking spear of two meters.

''I choose the spear.''

Cecilia was shocked by his choice as she had expected Dante to pick up a sword because it is the most used weapon, she would be disappointed if he had chosen a sword, a normal one but she couldn't help but be shocked by his unexpected choice, the spear not many select this weapon, the king of weapons. She couldn't help but smile thinking that this must be fate, something her Lord must have predicted but she got all wrong.

''A spear huh! that's a good choice.'' She said before becoming busy.

Ruminating through her belongings, Cecilia finally caught what she was searching for. A gray small round stone she threw at him and he caught it, he could feel a mysterious energy from this stone.

''It contains a special skill, break it and you will acquire a skill related to a spear. It is a powerful skill.'' Cecilia explained and her explanation spared him some effort as he was about to question her about this gray stone.

''You can learn the skill while I will go take care of a small problem. Consider this as my gift to you.''

Cecilia added not giving him the time to place one before vanishing, not that Dante had something to say.

He slowly caressed the gray round stone. Dante couldn't help but feel a little amused as the corners of his mouth perked up. Somehow he had acquired something unexpected. He wouldn't say no to this gift even if it might be poisoned.

It was at that moment Nemesis who had been dormant until now spoke.
