Phyllis decided to stay single for sometime because she felt peaceful and happy being single though she sometimes missed the presence of a man in her life and got horny too. She masturbated anytime she felt horny because she didn't want to even be involved with a man for even a night not because she hated men or relationships but she just wanted to be single because she's almost always been in a relationship and misses being single and loving herself.
One day, she decided to go outside to wine and dine since she hadn't gone out for a while. She went to one of the classy and expensive restaurants. All heads turned toward her the very moment she entered the restaurant. She is a curvy woman and the dress she wore that night was a blue fitting dress which was very attractive and therefore she caught the attention of everyone who saw her. She sat in front of a young man who was glued to his phone and seemed to be very concentrated on a conversation he was having on his phone.
She made her order and she was served to her satisfaction. A man in his middle ages approached her table and requested to join her which she agreed. They got into a conversation and she enjoyed the discussion and liked him for his honesty until she saw him removing his wedding ring and trying to hide it. The man then started toasting her but she smiled and politely turned him down so the man asked to be excused and left her table.
She sat quietly as she enjoyed herself but she heard the man behind her sob but decided to ignore him until the man started weeping bitterly. She asked to join his table and handed him a piece of tissue to wipe his face. She sat there till the man was calm and then asked him what was making him cry. She initially thought he had lost a loved one to death until he softly said "my girlfriend of seven years is getting married next week and we haven't even broken up. I went to Facebook as I sat here waiting for her since we had a date and she's running late because she says she had an impromptu meeting only to find her wedding invitation on one of my Facebook friend's wall. I sent her a message and she just confirmed it. She told me she arranged this date to inform and apologise to me."
The man was so heartbroken and couldn't control himself, he cried so hard that everyone's attention shifted to him, so she calmed him down. She felt it would do the man good if she allowed him to talk and she listened. That was also a good form of therapy from her experience.
She convinced the man to talk to her and he did. He really opened up to her and poured his heart out to her.
According to the man whose name was Franklin, he met Edna seven years ago. She was struggling with her life because she didn't have a job and her mother was a junkie. They started dating because he loved her.He later realized she had been admitted to college but due to her financial struggles, she didn't intend to go so he paid her tuition fee and made provision for everything she needed to be comfortable in school. He provided for her, took care of her mother and paid for her college education until she completed. Though they had issues they always solved them and she never gave him a sign that she wanted out of the relationship too.
She completed school not long ago because she was in the medical school. He had wanted to settle down with her while she was still in school but she asked him to wait till she completed school and found a job and he agreed to it because he loved her and he thought the feeling was mutual besides he didn't want her to be stressed since that could affect her studies. He had been making preparations to properly propose to her and marry her because he couldn't wait any more and thankfully she had completed school.
He then paused for a while and then tears began to flow from his eyes but he gently wiped them and shook his head. He said, he found a pregnancy test strip in his washroom and when he checked, it showed positive and he was very happy. He waited for two months for her to tell her but she didn't so he confronted her and she told him he had aborted it and she apologised for it. He was hurt but decided to forgive her because he thought the pregnancy would be a distraction to her but he had now realised, she just didn't want to keep his child because she didn't want to marry him. It was getting late so she advised him, took his number and called a cab to take him home while she also went home after she had settled the bill.
Phyllis called to check up on him the next day and he thanked her for being there for him the previous day. He told her that, he came to meet Edna waiting for him in his house. She told him that, she fell in love with her husband to be while she was in school and they had been together for a while. She aborted that pregnancy because she didn't know whose child it was between the two of them and she didn't want to give birth to a child whose father she wasn't sure of. She apologised to Franklin and thanked him for all the support he had given her ever since they met. He couldn't say anything but cried until she left. He drank to stupor and doesn't even remember when he slept. Phyllis advised him and told him to get busy that day to prevent him from thinking too hard and also from crying. They then agreed to meet later in the evening to talk. She was willing to be in his company not because she loved him but she understood his pain.
They met in the evening and they had a long chat in which she also shared her past experiences with him. He also felt her pains. They became very good friends who spent much time together but they both remained single for sometime because they said that, "hurt people hurt people" and they didn't want to hurt anyone because of the baggage they carry so until they recovered they were going to stay single. Franklin had even given up on love and didn't even want any woman around him apart from Phyllis, his mother and some few friends. They became so close that people became suspicious of their relationship but they remained as friends without any benefits or relationship.
