John suspected that he was sedated beforehand.

He could not even move a single finger and all that he could do was to mumble a few incoherent mutterings here and there which was not making any sense when put together.

"Anyway, it is too late now. Ssshh, this won't hurt. Well, maybe a little, but not for long. For now, you just have to close your eyes."

The other party said and from the way how he sounded, it seemed that he even found joy at seeing the child as it suffered in pain.

"Have you noticed how it rained heavily not only last night but also tonight? It was as if heaven itself was helping me out. Yes, they are. The rain from a blood-red sky crashed down for hours without stopping."

The man in shadow said more to himself this time with a merry tone as though he had long made himself believed that all that he was doing was not just plainly his will alone but also of heavens.
