"My daughter...look how you've grown..."
Ellie felt her voice catch in her throat. She couldn't utter a single word. She was scared. Scared that if she closed her eyes this woman would vanish. Daughter. She had called her daughter. Was this woman her mother? If so where had she been all this time? There were so many questions, so little time and still Ellie could not utter a single word. The room was so cold. The presence of this woman sent chills down Ellie's spine but still she felt safe. It was strange and Ellie couldn't even begin to explain it.
"My daughter..Mother has missed you. I am glad, you have grown well I have chosen wisely."
At these words Ellie felt safe build inside her a feeling of anger that she never knew she had.
"Chosen wisely??! You abandoned me! I don't even know you! You could just be tricking me, I have never met nor seen my mother all I know is she left me. She didn't care!! She is dead to me!!" Ellie shouted.
She thrust the woman away from her and glared at her coldly. This woman could just be pretending. This could all be a trap from the darkness. Yes, that's right this woman was just spouting nonsense. She didn't have a mother.
"I didn't expect you to accept me. Despite what you think I left you for a good reason. So you could be safe. In truth I have never left your side. You may not have seen me but I have always been here, Just disguised to protect you."
Ellie couldn't believe what she was hearing. Did this woman really expect her to believe any of this? Ha! What a joke. Ellie knew that blue light often popped up in her dreams but this was the first time it became a woman. Maybe she was just feeling lonely so her mind was telling her what she wanted hear. It didn't matter either way she would wake up soon and this would just fade to memory. The woman wouldn't stop staring at her. She was expecting her to say something but Ellie didn't want to say anything. A gentle tap at the door startled Ellie. The door opened and there stood Asmodious looking intently at both of them.
"I thought I would come check on you since I just arrived, I didn't expect you to still be awake." he said.
Ellie jumped from the bed into his arms. Even if this was a dream she had missed him greatly. She turned slightly to secretly observe the woman standing by her bed. She hadn't moved she continued to smile sweetly at her.
"Asmodious i missed you. But why don't you say anything about that woman." Ellie pointed.
"What woman?" Asmodious held her at arms length and scanned the area where Ellie was pointing.
"He can't see me and you aren't dreaming." It was a simple sentence but filled Ellie with dread.
She wasn't sleeping...She wasn't dreaming...She was awake...
