Chapter 34: Chapter 33
Ellie awoke feeling groggy but rested. She washed and changed and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Something was off but she couldn't put her finger on it. She prepared and set the table and that's when she realised, Remy was gone. She hadn't heard him leave and he hadn't said anything. She began to feel a bit frantic, it was then she realised how dependant she had become on his presence. She paced about the house searching for any sign or note and found nothing. Almost like he had never even been here. She felt despair creep into the back of her mind. When had she become so close to him. Why did his absence make her heart ache. What was this. Just as she felt tears well up the door opened and he walked through the door smiling. Ellie threw herself at him in an instant, fearing if she hesitated for even a second he would disappear again. Remy was shocked by her sudden action and gently pushed her off him.
"What's wrong Ellie?" he asked gently
"Where were you? Why did you suddenly disappear without saying anything? It was like you had abandoned me..." as she said it she realised why she had reacted so strongly to him leaving without saying anything. She was afraid. Afraid of losing him. Afraid that like the others he would leave. What was wrong with her. He smiled at her and pulled her to his chest gently stroking her head as if to soothe her.
"You have been through a lot lately that's why you were afraid when I just went out. There is no need to dwell on it. I left whilst you were asleep to get some milk as we were out, I assumed I would return before you woke up. I was wrong I won't leave without saying anything again so rest at ease." His words like his touch were soothing and warm.
After calming down they went about training and carried on their day as normal. At night Ellie still felt uneasy.
"Can you share a bed with me tonight...?" she asked sheepishly.
Her words caught Remy off guard and he agreed without thought. Only after he agreed did he realise what had transpired. Ellie dressed and climbed into bed and waited shyly for Remy. He came into the room and his face was red. He gently pulled back the covers and climbed in carefully keeping his distance. As they lay in bed together not daring to face each other but unwilling to turn their backs too both contemplated the heat radiating from the others body. Soon the night filled with the sound of deep breathing as they both fell asleep in the comfort of each other's presence.
