They started the usual way. but instead of in a side room like normal it was in the corner of the kitchen. People were bustling by fulfilling their own chores around the kitchen or coming in getting things then leaving again. Ellie watched eagerly as she worked. Most people glanced at them then left one or two of the younger girls in the kitchen openly stared. Still Ellie was happy. After she had finished peeling the old woman led her to the sink where a young girl about Ellie's age was standing.
"In total there are eight people in this household who are having breakfast, after breakfast the dishes are scrapped and brought here to be washed. This is Millie usually she does this by herself. Today you will be helping her."
After instructing her and introducing them to each other she left. Millie let out a sigh of relief.
"I thought she was going to watch us as we cleaned. She can be quite frightening sometimes..haha.." Millie said.
"I don't find her frightening at all. She's been nothing but helpful since I got here."
A loud crash as the sink filled with dishes made them both jump. They laughed together. The seeds of friendship had been planted between the two girls.
Over the weeks Ellie learned about serving and other various duties required of a maid. The fact that she was a quick learner and was very good at whatever she turned her hand to made her quite popular in the space of a week, people began to actively seek her help after two weeks but by the third week she not only could move around the manor by herself but had also made a few friends. The most important to her was Millie. She still walked with James to the manor everyday and had seen Remy once or twice in the manor but she didn't really consider them her friends, they were more like friends Asmodious had gave her.
Although she had been in the manor for over a month she had never met any of the actual residents, which made her feel weird. She met almost all the staff through her duties and even a few of the guards but never the actual residents even though there were meant to be eight of them. This made her unsettled so after a while she decided to ask Millie.
"Who are the residents in this house Millie? I don't think I have ever seen them."
"Well there are eight residents but I have only seen two, there's the madam of the house she has golden hair, emerald eyes and is covered in glimmering scales, the master is a tall gentleman with gentleman with blue eyes and horns Those are the two that iv seen, but I know they have two daughters and two sons but I don't know what they look like and the master has an older brother and his wife. I'm sure it's actually the older brothers house but I'm not too sure. It's not my place to say really."
Ellie had remembered when she had asked Madam Vesser and he had told her not concern herself with things that were not important. Well at least she got some information from Millie.
Ellie was leaving early today as Asmodious and Miranda were having a celebration tonight to send the boys off to the academy and little did Ellie know that tonight things would change...
