Chapter 25: Chapter 24
From her calculations Ellie had slept at least three hours. Miranda was in the kitchen cooking and preparing for the day ahead. Ellie walked over to her and began helping without saying anything. After cooking they all sat at the table. Miranda kept glancing at Ellie and finally made up her mind.
"You don't look well my dear, you should perhaps just rest today and then return or at least go later after a little more sleep I'm sure they would understand."
"It's best if I just go. I won't be able to sleep again anyway and I'll feel better if I'm kept busy at least. But thank you." Ellie beamed at Miranda. She always showed her care when it mattered and was strict when she needed to be.
After eating and tidying up Ellie put on her coat and hugged both Miranda and Asmodious then headed out. Sure enough as she stepped out there was James standing at the edge of the forest patiently waiting for her. They exchanged greetings and headed out together. They casually chatted about work and the morning weather when they arrived at the wall and stepped through.
"Severus is always at this entrance is he a guard or something?" Ellie whispered as they passed Severus.
"Yes his unique ability is detection. So even if someone used cloaking magic or were assains with chameleon magic severus would sense them and alert others right away."
Ellie had heard of this sort of thing from Asmodious before. That people who practice magic sometimes developed unique abilities or some people who had no magic could still have a certain magical ability. They reached the manor and went their seperated ways. Ellie headed to Madam Vesser room and James went upstairs. She knocked on the door and the old woman greeted her smiling.
"Good your here today, time to start learning other jobs so you can be more versatile and start getting to meet other members of the staff.."
Ellie dressed quickly and was ready to go.
