Chapter 20: Chapter 19
Ellie sat in her room and gazed out the window into the moonlight. She had been considering that had happened over the past few hours but couldn't figure it out. He picked her up suddenly and ran without looking back, on top of that Asmodious seemed worried too and took her straight inside without a word then sent her straight to bed with no explanation. It didn't seem right, then those words
"....I take it you sensed it too..."
Sensed what? Her head had been buzzing with these thoughts over and over again, but to no avail. Was the darkness she experienced earlier involved? Now that she thought about it that incident was weird too. The more she thought about it the more she realised she had felt it before, and it was very real.Remy hadn't noticed it though it was only her, why? And why was it that his presence offered her a light? Hmmm...this was more troublesome than Ellie had first thought.
"I don't think I'm going to figure any of this out tonight, I'll speak to Asmodious tomorrow about what happened and see if that helps.. "
She climbed into bed making a mental note to ask Asmodious about everything that had happened except about the darkness, she didn't want to make him worry too much. She closed her eyes and fell into a dreamless sleep. Ellie opened her eyes, it was just before dawn. She must have only had an hour or two as she felt completely exhausted. She got up, washed, dressed and went down stairs. It was just Miranda there.
"Where's Asmodious?" she asked
"He had something to attend to yesterday he won't be back until tonight." her tone suggested it would be unwise for Ellie to ask anymore. Miranda put out a bowl of porridge and a glass of orange juice and took a seat opposite Ellie. They ate in silence. after they were done Ellie helped Miranda clear away the dishes and headed to the door. Before she got outside Miranda pulled her onto a hug and whispered in her ear.
"Be careful, and remember no matter what happens you will always have a home here and you will be protected."
She kissed Ellie's forehead and waved goodbye as James stepped out the forest to wait for her. Ellie didn't understand what had just happened that was very unlike Miranda. It was almost like she was saying goodbye....
