Chapter 13: Chapter 12
A chill ran up her spine..
"I don't understand, what is happening?"
Asmodious looked at the young man then back to Ellie.
"I believe my magical barrier may have been damaged although I'm not sure how or where. But this will be investigated so try not to worry my dear..Moving on..."
The look of concern was obvious on his face it was clear something was wrong but he was trying not to make Ellie worry.
"This is James you met his brother Remy briefly a few days ago. Both Remy and James are my cousins adopted son's. They work in a manor which is where you will be going to assist them. You will be a maid since it is something you can do well."
Ellie looked at James. She knew he looked similar to the man before now she knew why. A maid. In a manor. She was leaving the church. She would meet new people. Make friends. Find adventure? Ellie started to tremble with excitement.
"When can I leave? When do I start?"
"Tomorrow. James will escort you to and from the church as well as keeping an eye on you at work."
It was like cold water poured over a fire. She was the fire burning with excitement. Asmodious words were the cold water extinguishing that excitement. She knew it was too good to be true. She will be constantly watched. Meaning once again there would be a barrier between her and the life she wanted. But still at least she was able to go out and things might not be that bad she thought.
"For now it's best if you get something to eat and go sleep early. The sun is almost set and you must awaken before the dawn."
"Okay"
She got up and left but as she was leaving she noticed that Asmodious handed something shiny to James before she could see what it was the door closed and the image of the room was no longer in view.
"I guess I will wait to see what tomorrow will bring..."
