Chapter 3: Chapter 2:

Ellie stared at Asmodious. He was hiding something from her but she didn't know what. He leaned forward and patted her head with great affection.

"Okay, I think that's enough kneeling. Why don't you go play with the young ones and make sure to tire them out." he smiled.

"As you command... Oh! great one!" she laughed mischievously and bounced into the garden.

A figure emerged from the shadows to stand beside Asmodious, her bright face giving the impression of being kind and affectionate but when she spoke it was almost a growl..

"You haven't spoken to her yet?"

"No. Let her be carefree just a little while longer, perhaps she won't want to leave" he replied hopefully.

"You know as well as I do she wants to leave, she has always been free spirited and these four walls won't contain her much longer. The sooner you speak to her the sooner she can be prepared. The future waits for no one."

Miranda stared at Ellie playing in the garden with the young ones as they triped her up using their tail, she sighed heavily. This little trouble maker will be leaving soon, I hope she will be safe, she thought.

Miranda turned to face Asmodious and watched as his eyes followed Ellie intently with a look of concern upon his face, she knew he was fond of her and treated her like his own child. She was the first after all. The first child ever to be brought here. The building was supposed to be haunted and no one dared to leave their children here despite how desperate they were. That was how it had been until that night nearly 18 years ago an auspicious night filled with blood curling screams and the howls of hounds from the depths of hell itself. They brought the child inside on that night and there was a note pinned to the child. That note... If it had not been for what that note had said Miranda would have taken that child to one of the orphanages in town and left her there without looking back, but after reading it Asmodious told her they were keeping the child, it was unwise to argue with him so they named her Ellie and raised her. As time went on three more children came to the church so they became an orphanage welcoming those who were abandoned.

" I will prepare dinner, consider what I have said. The sooner the better," and with that she returned to the shadows.
