He filled up the profile, then left the character stats.
"Are you finished?" Kael asked Kelvin.
"Yeah!" he replied.
"We will pass this to the receptionist then," Kael said.
"Yeah," Kelvin replied.
They walked to the receptionist, then they handed the form to her.
"Hmm, okay good! Now proceed to the testing grounds. There's someone who will instruct you about your test. Bring these to them and they will fill up your form." she said as she handed out the form.
Kael and Kelvin both took it and then looked at each other.
"Let's go!" said Kelvin.
"Yeah! Let's go!" Kael replied.
They went to the exit of the hall and there's a signage that says, "To the testing grounds, this way!"
They went outside and the sun shines brightly. They walked several meters then saw a separate building just for the testing grounds. It has a building and high walls; the building was for the knowledge aptitude test and focus aptitude test, and the open field that was surrounded by walls was for the combat aptitude.
"Is that the testing area?", they shouted.
"Let's go!", Kelvin said to him.
They ran towards the entrance and they saw many more aspiring adventurers that were gathering themselves. There was a middle-aged man that was standing in the center of the crowd that was waiting for something.
"Hey, are we late?" Kael asked Kelvin.
"No, maybe the proctor is still waiting for the applicants to be numerous so the instruction will be said only once," Kelvin said.
"Oh is that it? Might as well hurry up!" Kael said then went on towards the crowd.
They hurriedly ran while the proctor starts to give instruction.
"Time's up! Okay, aspiring adventurers! Listen up! I will give the instructions once, so better hear me out! The tests will be taken separately and you will take the tests in private. There will be only three persons allowed to enter the testing grounds; one to the focus aptitude, one to the combat aptitude, and one to the knowledge aptitude. I will collect the forms and choose who will be entering. Okay hand me the forms," he said to them.
They handed the forms and then Kael and Kelvin went back to their positions.
The proctor then immediately called out their names.
"Igelbert Johnson, to the combat aptitude test. Hermans Cain, to the focus aptitude test. Drew Barrymore, to the knowledge aptitude test," he said while giving them back the forms.
"Give that to the test coordinators before the tests start," he said to them and then continued his work.
Kelvin and Kael wait for their turn to be called.
"Kael Melvin! to the combat aptitude test. Mael Kelvin! to the focus aptitude test," the proctor announced.
"See you bud!" Kael said to Kelvin.
"See you later!" Kelvin said as they went separate ways.
They received the forms and went inside. They walked towards the gate and there were three doors. At the front was to the combat aptitude test, on the left was the knowledge aptitude test, and the right was the focus aptitude test. Kael opened the door at the front and saw an open field that had a weapon rack beside it. There was a man that was standing in the middle of the grounds, then smiled.
Kael approached the proctor and the wind blew the dust on the ground. Kael walked nearer and nearer and saw that the proctor had an eyeglass and he wears a grey formal suit with a neck-tie in his neck. He had gloves and black shoes. He fixed his spectacles, then introduced himself as Kael got closer.
"I'm Belmund, the Combat coordinator of the adventurers guild. Please hand me the form then I will tell you our test," he said, offering his hand.
"Okay sir, here's my form," Kael said.
Kael gave the form and Belmund received it. He then gave the instructions.
"The test is about dueling. I will observe your strength, vitality, and dexterity by these glasses called 'Window eyeglass'. It will measure your stats and that depends on what your performance is," he said to him.
"Now choose any weapon you want to use and use your skills if you have one. I will wait in the dueling place for a minute. Remember, you can only take this test once a year so chose the best weapon you have. The requirement is to make me recognize you, but the purpose is still to measure your stats, so don't worry if you can't defeat me. That's all and one minute starts now." he paused, then walks to the dueling place.
Kael walked to the weapon rack and saw many weapons. From swords, axe, hammer, daggers, mace, to spears, shields, bows, crossbows, and two-handed weapons.
He had a hard time choosing one because he knows the pros and cons of every weapon.
He thought about choosing the shield when he remembered how his father fought with the shield. He glanced at the proctor and he didn't even have a plan on equipping a weapon.
'Hmm, maybe a Fighter class. Splendid! Let's see how far will father's unarmed techniques can take me!' he said to his mind.
One minute was near to end when he decided to fight unarmed. He walked to the dueling place without a weapon, then the proctor smiled.
"So you've discovered my job class! Yes, I am a Fighter and I can even block any weapons with my hands using these gloves. So you've decided to fight me unarmed? A logical choice! Now if you'll excuse me. Please put down your backpack first. It will be on the way if we fight head-on," he said to Kael while smiling.
"Oh thank you!" he said as he puts down his backpack to the side of the dueling place.
The proctor was reading his paper out loud while waiting for Kael.
"Hmm. Applicant Kael, isn't it? You're a combatant! Lives in the golden valley. Age was 13, quite young, and wants to do the dangerous job of adventurers. Well, let' see if you were worthy to be called an adventurer. So let's proceed to the test?" he said as he reads the form.
"Okay, Sir" Kael said to him.
The proctor put the paper on the floor and then prepared for the duel.
Belmund then touched his eyeglasses before initiating his battle stance.
"Measure strength, vitality, and dexterity activate" Belmund said as the eyeglass glowed for a second.
"Here I come!" Belmund shouted to Kael.
They moved towards each other then punches together. The moment their fists clashed, it produces a banging sound. Their momentum stopped and in split second, Belmund unleashed a skill.
[One-inch punch]!
He unleashed his skill and Kael's hands were blown away. Kael steps back a few times and shaking his hands. This skill was multiplying your strength by two folds in a split-second time and it gets stronger if the skill point was applied. It has a cooldown and can't be used repeatedly.
Kael felt the pain, but he stretches his hands to relieve it.
"Ouch! Ouch! There's a great difference between techniques and skills. I really need to attend the academy in the future." he said in his mind.
"Again!" Belmund shouted to him.
Kael then posed his fighting stance then attacks with a series of punches. Belmund deflects it using the "[Gentle Palm]" skill. It emits a shockwave of mana that permeates Kael's muscles thus making it numb and has a similar feeling of a strained muscle.
"Ouch! Ouch! What is wrong with that skill?" Kael shouted as he rolls to the ground in pain.
"Hey! Help me up! Don't just stand there! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!" Kael bellowed.
"Oh, I'm sorry. My sadistic personality has been triggered by your blood lust," he said as he applied mana to his sprained muscles.
"There you go! It's back to normal," he said after he finished.
Belmund grabbed his hands and helped him to stand up. Kael removed the dust on his clothes and finished it after a while.
"Thanks! So what's the result?" he asked Belmund.
"Your base strength is decent and also your dexterity and vitality are above other kids of your age. I will write immediately the results," he said as he picked up his pen from his pocket and writes to the form.
"Your next test will be the knowledge aptitude test, good luck!" he said then handed out the form.
