Chapter 5: Even Michael Bay has to Pick his Fights Properly!

"Oi Gin, aren't there a little too many people here?", Kouji whispers
"Oh crap, this wasn't part of the plan. What the heck do we do?", Gin responds as he sweatdrops
Meanwhile, Shinpachi release himself from Kouji's hold and walks towards Otae, "Sis! They haven't done anything to you yet, have they?"
The leader of the loan sharks shout at them, "What are you guys doing?!?! If you do this then I can promise you that your dojo will be no more!"
Shinpachi faces the Amanto and with conviction he says, "I don't care about the dojo"
Otae gasps at his words
"What I loved was the dojo where my sister is in. A dojo where I can see my sister smiling. If it's gonna take my sister's sacrifice in order to keep it, then I DON'T NEED THAT KIND OF DOJO!"
Otae stares at her brother's back and realizes that it's become broader and more reliable which causes her to look at the duo in the back
Gintoki and Kouji both bear a smile on their faces at Shinpachi's actions
"Woohoo you rock, siscon samurai!", Kouji teases with that shit-eating grin
"The things that siscons could do for their sisters...", Gintoki says with an enlightened expression
Shinpachi stumbles from their remarks and retorts, "Can't you guys at least take it seriously for one time?!?!"
"Shut up, all of you!", the Loan Shark man felt left out
"What can the four of you do? Nothings you try will help you escape now! Especially in my kingdom in the sky!", the man laughs
"Oi, does that guy think this ship is Laputa?", Kouji deadpans to Gintoki
"He's that kind of guy, y'know. He's so old that the only thing he's ever watched are Ghibli Films. Now he thinks that he's so delusional to think that he's the chosen one"
"Ahh, such a pitiful man. May whatever Amanto Gods that exist bless him"
"SHUT UP, YOU TWO! You're starting to get in my veins!", the Loan Shark man can't take anymore of this
"Guards! Get them!", he shouts as all the guards point at Kouji and Gin
Gintoki stares for a moment then says, "Shinpachi! Leave these chumps to us! You just go and get you and your sister out of here"
"But, what about you guys?", Shinpachi worriedly asks
"Don't worry too much. You just think of how you're gonna protect you sister. Meanwhile, I'll protect whatever I want to protect", Gintoki faces the guards
He then pulls out his sword and with one swing-
A huge gust of wind blows out towards the nightclub guards, pushing them back!
Gintoki then rushes in and uses his bokken (wooden sword) to methodologically knock out the guards one by one
"Wah, so strong!" - Shinpachi
"So he wasn't just all talk!" - Otae
"I'll never forget your sacrifice, Private Sakata!" - Kouji
"Eh? Wait...", Gintoki pauses to look back and sees Kouji still standing with the Shimura siblings
"Now, you guys! Don't let his sacrifice be in vain!", Kouji pulls on the sibling as they dash out to the corridor
Gintoki could only try to fend off the guards while he shouts in annoyance, "Oi, Kouji! You-"

Three figures can be seen running around trying to find an exit point
"Kouji-san, is it really alright to just leave Gin-san like that?", Shinpachi queries
"It's fine! It's fine! I bet that Gintoki just wanted to have that cliche cool scene of 'Leave this to me, you guys go ahead!' that always appears in a battle manga. This is the bad effect of always reading Jump! You shouldn't try to be like that, Shinpachi! If he wants to be a hero, then let him be!", Kouji just waves it off
Otae looks at Kouji then at Shinpachi and couldn't help saying, "Why are these guys here? Why do they care so much about us siblings?"
Shinpachi looks to his sister and simply says, "I also don't know why, sis. But I know that they have good intention. It's because these guys have what our father has always been talking about..."
"AHHHHHHH!!!", a loud yelling could be heard from behind them
They look back only to see Gintoki running towards them with the guards on his tail!
"I'm sorry Kouji, for trying to be cool! I promise I won't do it again so please don't leave me!", Gintoki pleads as he reaches for them with a frightful expression on his face
"Oh, he's already come back! He didn't even last for that long!", Shinpachi says with evident shock on his face
"Gintoki! How was it? Did you feel cool? Must've been an experience huh?", Kouji looks back to tease him with wiggling eyebrows while still running
"It was tough, you know? Battle manga doesn't clearly portray these kinds of situation!", Gintoki finally keeps up with their pace
"You could've at least tried harder!", Shinpachi just can't stop retorting!
Gintoki brushes Shinpachi's words off, "Anyway, we have to find something to ride out of this place!"
>>> A few moments later <<<
They eventually reach a room but when they enter, they could only see a large metallic sphere with a lot of tubes and pipes connected to it.
"Is this.. the engine room?", Shinpachi suggests
"Wow Shinpachi, you must be some kind of detective to know that! How about calling yourself the Middle School Detective, Shimura Shinpachi? I bet it would sell about 200 million volumes around the world!", Kouji says with his hand forming a money sign
"More like getting sued for 200 million dollars!", Tsukkomi Shinpachi strikes again
"Well that's enough of that", another voice cuts in
The group of four look behind them and sees the Loan Shark man pointing a pistol in their direction
"How pathetic it is... that the samurais who once protected this nation can't even protect on little girl... There is nothing that you can protect now. Can't you see? That the seas and these skies, now belong to us Amanto!"
The atmosphere that Gintoki and Kouji gave off suddenly changed
"The seas?", Gintoki steps forward
"The skies?", Kouji follows him
"You can have all of them!", Their voices resonate with each other
"You can even have this country!", Gintoki waves his sword and holds it down to his right side
"But as you can see, we're currently busy", Kouji also holds his sword down but to his left side
Their swords touch each other, forming a cross
"Trying to protect what's in front of us!", they stare down at the Amanto
"You never really know what's gonna happen in the future...", Kouji laments while pulling back his sword to his shoulder
"But if something drops at your feet...", Gintoki does the same as Kouji
"Then the least you can do is to pick it up!", The two seems to have a nonchalant stance but the feeling they give off is in no way that of someone that's wide open
"Wh-what is that? Some kind of Bushido that you samurais always have? Who cares about that! I'll just shoot you two do-", the Loan Shark Boss gets interrupted by his subordinates
"Boss, you can't shoot in here! If you do, then who knows what'll happen to the engine!"
"Oh, you're right! I nearly messed up!"
Kouji's face suddenly turns to a cat-like smirk, "Oi Gin, you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Gintoki also has that signature Yorozuya smile on his face, "I might be!"
The two's body swiftly turns around at the same time-
And took a hard swing at either sides of the engine!
"OH NOOOO!!!", The entirety of the Loan Sharks scream in panic
The engine suddenly went up in smoke wih small sparks of explosion bursting!
Everything pauses...
And then drops
"Eh? What is this feeling of weightlessness? Did I somehow gain gourmet cells and my body started heavily digesting all the sweets in my stomach to turn to power?!?!", Gintoki exclaims
"Like hell that's how it is! The entire ships falling!!!", Shinpachi dutifully does his job
Kouji looks to his hand as his body shakes, "Wait! Did my Float-Float Fruit lose its effect?"
Shinpachi turns his eyes from Gintoki to Kouji, "Like I said that's not it!!!"
His voice echoes as the floating ship eventually drops to the sea...
||| At the seaside near the Floating Ship crashed |||
Just a glimpse at the sea and you'll find the remnant of what was once...
Wooden boards floating aimlessly and a ship upturned
People being carried in stretches and moving around the place
"War... it never changes...", Kouji mutters to himself as his face turned upwards and the rays of the orange falling sun graces his face, painting a picture perfect scene
The snap of a camera sounds
Kouji's mood suddenly changed from melancholy to upbeat as he turns to Gintoki, "So. how is it? Did you manage to take a good picture?"
"Yeah! It's perfect!", Gintoki nods sagely while showing the picture to Kouji
"Hoho not bad, man. I'll take your picture next! Go ahead, take a pose", Kouji says
"Alright!" Gintoki takes on several poses as the clicking of cameras continue
Not too far away from them, Shinpachi is sitting by the bay and Otae is standing beside him
"Seriously, what kind of samurai are those two..." He says while looking towards the photo shoot of the two
Otae's eyes were close as she responds, "But they really saved us, didn't they?"
Just then, Gintoki's loud voice reaches them, "What the hell? Here I am being a people person and helping rid this country of cockroaches and here you are, shouting at me!"
"That's right! you should be glad that we even avoided using insect sprays! I heard those things are actually bad for the environment! We're being earth-friendly here! Edo-friendly!", Kouji supports him from the side
"What're you guys saying?!?!? You hijacked a police vehicle and thrashed it but think that you can just get aways from it? This is this and that is that!", the police man refuses to budge
Back to the Shimura siblings
"Sis, can I-", Shinpachi couldn't even finish as Otae interrupted him
"Just go..."
Shinpachi looks to his sister
Otae also looks at him and says, "You found something within them, didn't you? Go ahead with them till you find it... till you find your sword... I'll try to find mine in my own way but don't worry, I won't overdo it. After all, I hate seeing you suffer too"
As Otae turns back to leave, Shinpachi remembers his father's words, 'Even if your sword breaks, never give up the trues sword that resides within your soul'
Shinpachi thinks to himself as he looks to Gintoki, 'Father, I may not truly understand the meaning behind you words, but I think that if I follow the dim light in that man's soul, then I may just see what lies within mine'
