Chapter 3: Chapter 3. The Wood's Story
We drive down the long road and a sign reads Devon, 5 miles. I sigh, knowing soon Nori and her baby, Laura, will be gone. Then an idea hits me. I swing around in my seat and Looks at Nori. " Nori, I was wondering if you needed a baby sitter at any point?" I asked gesturing towards the baby. Nori looked up happily. "you would do that?" She said placing a hand on her heart, on Laura's car seat. I nodded and gave her my number so she could message eachother.
We reached Devon and dropped Nori, and Laura off at their hotel. Then we set off again to finish our trip to Banff. My brother is an excellent person, but when I visit him for the summer, we never really see eachother. He is always at work. And I'm staying home, or shopping, hanging out with old friends, and now babysitting. There isn't much to do in Banff. But growing up I was never allowed in the woods.
The woods had a dark past to them and where known to take children into the trees, and the kids never coming back. I belive that it was just a story to keep kids from getting lost in the woods, but who knows. It could be as real as slender man and Momo. But I didn't care for the forest any ways. Yes I loved camping and hiking, but we never went in big forest with rivers and bears, with wolves, bugs, big spiders, or really even birds. But now that I was in Canada, there would so much light, nature, and wild life.
I was take from my thought when my phone buzzed. I grabbed it and looked at the name, my brother was calling me. I pressed then answer button. "Hello?" I said. "Hey what's up little Man! I can't wait to see you," Xander said excited. "I just want to let you know, I am having my girlfriend come over for the weekend, so just stay out of our room." He said with a light chuckle. My brother is 27 and his birthday is in a few days. So I don't care what him and his girlfriend are doing as long as they keep it down. "No problem bro, I might just spend most of my time down by the creek, or bird watching in the cafe." I said laughing a little.
Then I remembered. "Yo, Xander before I forget, I decided to do some babysitting at a friend's house. You think you can drive me later?" there was silence. "Yeah I can do that what time? " Don't know yet, not today though." I said to my brother. I move the phone from my ear and hang up. I really had no clue what time I would be going to Nori's to babysit Laura. "Hey Colin, I'm going to get some sleep, tell me when we get there." I say to Colin, as I lean back and put in one ear bud. "No problem man." He said in his heavy accent.
