Chapter 3: Trouble in town

When I woke up. It was not to the sound of my alarm. I could hear the owl that prowl the trees, making its midnight calls. And the wind rustling it fingers through the pine trees thick branches.

"Fucking insomnia." Was all I could say.

I sat up, knowing it was useless to try and sleep.

I turned to open my phone to see the time and to make it. It was 1:24 in the moring. This was nothing new. Getting little to some sleep.

I would stay up all night ether gaming, or drawing on my computer. I would even do a rare attempt at animation. Though they would never get past the sketch phase.

I layed there, stairing at the carpeted ceiling of my car. I let myself be immersed by the darkness of the night, and the sounds of crickets nightly song.

I looked back to my phone and looked at its percentage bar. It lit and presented the number of 71. It was good that I could change my phone with a small amount of static magic, but it would only charge it a small bit. That was fine, I wasn't going to beg for it to be more than I already have.

"What if I raised the charge?" I thought out loud. I shook my head head at the thought. If I did that, I could fry my phone! Then I would be lost in this world. That and there goes all of my music.

I sighed. Trying to think of a new idea of what I had to do.

"Food and this worlds clothing. I need that stuff first." I raised my hand to the car's ceiling. Even though I had seen it so many times, it was comforting to see something that I was used to. Even if it was with me since the beginning.

I put my hand to the back of my head, readying my body to move. My body started to ache at my thought of movement.

I sighed at my sudden relation of just how lethargic I really was. I stayed to mentally prepare myself to force my body up.

"On the count of three."

"One. Two. Three.."

"Four. Five. Six..."

"Agh!" I flipped my body over. It wouldn't get up. It was kind of pathetic and I could imagine how painful this must look.

At some point I managed to get my body to move up.

It was sometime around six thirty in the morning. I was driving my car to a near by town called Norwich.

I was in the middle of a valley that was peppered with trees and nice farm land. This town was also on the border. And on the other side of that said border sitting on the other side of the valley was another town called, Grasmere.

The are both in the middle of mountains making them coal, or a type of mining town. So they were a abundant of people, and good wealth.

The town I was driving towers was Norwich, seeing as crossing the check point in a 'suspicious' way, would not favor me in any way.

It was warm with a nice summer breeze. The smell of flowers and the buzz of wildlife was in every direction. My windows were rolled down as the wind got caught in my car and thrashed my hair about. I had my circular, blue yellow, sunglasses on keeping my hair from poking my eyes.

I was rolling at a good 25 to 30 miles per hour, seeing as the road was gravel and not pavement. My music was on blast playing a new song each time. From CRX Broken bones all the way to Five Nights at Freddy's Break my Mind. It was playing a genre of different songs. I liked any song as long as it had a good voice, and great bass.

But I wasn't listening to the song that much. My mind was more on why the Duke looked to god damn familiar.

His dark midnight blue, black hair and soft but strong face. His purple and green stern, cat shaped, eyes. I didn't know why, but he looked so familiar!

I sighed again as the song changed once again. This time Gumi's Machine Gun. I started to focus on the song to try and get him off my mind.

As the songs chorus started to hit, my body started to move to the rythm. I started to sing with it.

A few songs later and I could see the little town of Norwich. It was bigger than I though, almost looking like a small city. Sprece pine trees layered the area around it and the main road. The town was based upon the ridge of the mountain.

Dark brown houses contrasting the white gray rock of the mountain made the town of Norwich almost, captivating.

I parked my car in the dence woodlands that layed beside the towns main road.

It looked familiar again.

I started to remember a picture from a webtoon I remember reading one time. But, that wouldn't be possible.

'Right?'

As I drove down the main road, I started to look for a small opening to pull my car up to. The wind lazily moved the pines branches, as the wildlife scurried around the green needle like leafs.

'Good, she looks well hidden.'

I looked at the midnight blue Town and Country. Laziling and relaxing in between three trees, and some large bushes.

I nodded at my great parking job. I turned to walk to the main road, looking at looming Spruce pine trees and the, every so often, oak tree. It was such a beautiful dark wooded area. It was a large contrast to my Bright orange winters jaket.

I took a pause, and looked at my attire.

Bright orange bandana that held my crazy red, orange hair in place. A black hair tie to keep me from getting to warm.

My bright orange winter jaket, with my gray work shirt layed boldly under my jaket.

Light blue, boot cut jeans. Black sneakers, with 2018 red and white coloration and pattern highlights.

I leaned my head on a tree and sighed.

I stick out so much.

Everything about my existence speaks, 'I came from another world! Take me to your leader!'

I needed to get some clothes that was from this world so I could blend till I found a way home. I wanted to and-

'Actually. Why do I want to go back to my world?'

All that was back there was head ache and sleepless nights. If I could acquire a good status here, I wouldn't have to stay up past midnight again.

But then, that would mean no more playing The Isle, and playing late with friends.

I shook my head. Right now, I needed to get some clothing that wouldn't make me look like a walking talking orange.

As I walked down the main strip of the large town, the smell of fresh baked, and sweat freshly picked mountain berries.

My stupid stomach started to growl. I hadn't had a decent breakfast since freshman year, and the quarantine didn't help with that.

Moved my hand and rubbed my thumb on over my hidden pocket as I looked at the people around me.

Some of the people where more clean than others. The ones throwing cups together at the bar house, were covered in a dark pastel substance.

'So this town is a coal town. But I do have but one question. Why are there only men on the street?'

I was having a culture shock.

There was women other than me out on the street.

As my thumb brushed my wallet, the pocket started to a little heavy. I started to look for ether a clothing shop, or somewhere for a quick bite to eat.

The had just crossed my mind, that I didn't have this worlds currency. Nor did I know what their currency was.

I rubbed the back of my head and sighed.

"This situation is not looking every favorable to me, huh?" I thought out loud.

"Not to you but for me it is very favorable."

"Uh?" I turned around, and the look of confusion and shock was enough to say just who I saw. I pointed out of instincts and not on purpose.

But this mouth of mine will, most likely, get me killed.

"DUKIE?"

I shouted that on accident. Curse 2020 plot humor for making shout that.

He didn't look happy at the nickname I had picked out for him. He dipped his head down, and his body started to shake.

All I could hear was his stern voice get an order to the five guards surrounding him.

"Get her."

And, like a grown Carnotaurus seeing a pack of five Allosaurus's I ran full sprint in the opposite direction.

Four of the knights lagged behind while one with, an exceptionally handsome face and body features, was keeping pace. He had dark caramel hair with chocolate brown eyes.

"Ugh! I finally have a guy chasing after me but it's not for any of the right reasons! God damn it life why?"

But it was amazing on how he was keeping track with me.

You see, I have no upper body strength, but I was the head of both the male and female division for soccer and track. I also rode a bike when I was still a freshman at Granville High.

So someone keeping pace with me was incredibly interesting.

I could see sir dukie catch up to the knight, but it seems to have taken a bit out of him.

I didn't know the town well enough to escape the two royal pains in the ass behind me. But I was also good at jump, if i could just get a good leverage, I could Assassin creed my ass over the houses and to my car.

"Yeah right! I don't even have the upper body to do that."

I was starting to make a fuss while running. It was a good way to waste my energy, but this wasn't the right moment for it.

"Agh! Ezio! Tell me how you did that!"

I turned to look behind me, I could see four houses about to surpass the two behind me.

"Now or never!"

I dug my right sneaker into the dusty, rocky road making a divet. I launched myself toward the two royal butt pains. They, on instinct, moved out of my way.

They really did see that coming.

I was running up hill, so going down hill, I have significantly more speed. I looked back at two and the four house men.

They all had the surprise pikachu face meme.

"Pfff- AHAHAHAH-!"

I couldn't control my laughter. They looked exactly like the meme. The duke got up and started to give chase, the knight soon followed. The house men were still loading.

"SHIT YOUNG MADORA, I THINK ITS TIME TO GO!" I gave my best impression of All might for that one. But it still sounded like ass.

As I ran I saw a man walking with a load of sweet bread. I jumped and snatched the one that was about to fall.

"Sorry, but you aren't going to get this one back, but it was going to fall!"

He just looked back at me surprised that I caught it right as it was falling.

"Nice, now I got some carbs!"

My stomach growled again, and my speed decreased. I held my stomach, trying to regain speed.

"Agh! This is what I get for waiting to get food till I got to work."

I flew past the gate. Putting the sweet bread in my mouth, I hopped the side fence and booked it through the woods.

I passed tree after tree till I touched base with my car. I wheezed as I tried to get all the stamina I had lost.

I slowed my breathing to try and relax it so I could eat the sweet bread that was in my hand. As I carefully ate it, I could taste the sweet berries that it was filled with.

I was so good. I pulled my lanyard out of hiding, it jingled as the little game refences and adorable chibi character collided against each other. I picked through them all and found my car keys that waited patiently to wake my iron tank of a car.

I pressed the remote start button, and she roared to life. I walked to the driver's side as I finished my sweet bread.

Finally in the driver's seat I get ready to turn on my car, and get going.

The car was warmed up and ready to go. I checked all my bases, gas, lights, Eco mode, break, radio. Everything was ready to go!

However, the passenger side door opening was not on my excepting list of things. The duke crawled in welding a sword to my throat.

"You have to be shutting me."
