"She didn't say anything wrong. I'm really unworthy of you."
Kyoya's brain froze once he heard her saying that. Another wave of panic hit him as he frantically walked to her and held her hands.
"She talked nonsense! You're the best thing that ever happened to me. Don't say that you're unworthy of me."
The initial coldness that he directed to Miss Fujita was replaced with a sense of urgency as he explained to her. Kyoya watched Shouko in fright when she shook his hands off and took a step back from him.
"To be truthful, you're supposed to marry someone as capable as her. If not for Grandpa liking me, we wouldn't even cross paths," Shouko laughed in self-ridicule, "Maybe, that's why our happiness is short-lived. You'd be even better if you chose someone like her."
I'm sorry for the long sad chapters. I don't want to skip any part that would show the reason Kyoya was so afraid of letting Shouko knew about their children at the beginning of the book. And I hope the portrayal of the conflict each of them has to face is conveyed properly.
Enjoy!
