BAM! CRASH!
Shouko didn't waste her time, she immediately ran away from the man. She struck a blow at the towering boxes along the way, sending them to fall heavily on the floor. One by one, obstacles formed on the hallway, hindering the man.
"Huff... Huff... Huff..."
Shouko cradled Little Riceball while the other hand kept holding on to the wooden stick. The man's angry shouts echoed behind her before they gradually faded.
"Huh!"
Relying on the cover of the darkness, Shouko stealthily hid behind a tower of boxes once she left the hallway. She pressed her gasping mouth, avoiding to be heard. Little Riceball did the same. His beady eyes stared at his mother.
Shouko's heart sank. Those eyes showed clear trust in her despite having his own fear. She wrapped both of her hands over her son's small body.
"Little Riceball, Mommy would take you out, safe and sound," She whispered so softly.
I'm not feeling so good these days. I hope it's just because of the weather instead of you-know-what. The daily cases in my state have increased to almost triple digits. I could only pray for the safety of the community.
