Chapter 56: The business
Lu Sheng stood up, and he sits next to Jane. His sudden action makes Jane jittery in her seat.
'Why is he sitting next to me suddenly? Did he heard what I have just said?'
Jane felt rather conflicted. To let Lu Sheng sits next to her and act like it was nothing, or to stand up and make excuses to left her seat?
"Where are you going?" Jane asked her brother nervously.
"Why, are you so nervous sister? It's not like I am going to murder you or something... Relax." Lu Sheng sits next to her and crossed his leg.
Propping his hand on the back seat, he looks like someone without any worry, totally in contrast with Jane. Jane looks like a worm on a hot pan, shifting her butt for every few seconds that they have been in the departure hall.
'How can I relax, when you make me have this cold sweat for nothing?!' Jane clenched her jaw and she gave a glare at Lu Sheng with the corner of her eyes.
"Ah, my sis is too cute. Why are you glaring at me like that? We are going back to China... You are supposed to be happy to meet your family." Lu Sheng paused and he tilted his head facing Suzy.
"Do you miss your grandpa Suzy?" Lu Sheng asked Suzy in English.
Suzy blinked her eyes at Lu Sheng and she smiled.

"Of course! Both Mia and Lucy always talk on how nice China is, but I barely have any memories of us living in China." Suzy frowned her face and looks at both her mother and uncle.
"I am happy, but it is just that, going back to China today, without waiting for father, and Lucy seems not right. We should postpone the trip and wait for..."
"We don't have much time. We need to go back to China today. Someone will come and pick up both of your father and sister once the matter in China is settled." Lu Sheng cut Suzy's word short, with his autocratic demand.
"Oh, okay." Suzy's cheerful face immediately sunken and turned to gloom and fear. She shifted in her seat and hugged her backpack tightly to her chest.
The words her uncle said were simple, but somehow it carried weight to anyone who hears it. It feels like it was an order where you need to obey it unless you don't want your life anymore.
Jane twitched her lips and spoke in Mandarin.
"She is still a kid, are you not even going to let go of a kid? Must you speak to her like that?"
"What did I say? It's not like I have threatened your daughter or anything..." Lu Sheng gave off a cynical laugh to Jane.
Jane could feel her hair on her hands were standing when he laughed.
'Creepy.'
"I am not saying about the words. I am saying about this..." Jane propped up her arm, up to Lu Sheng's eye level, which still has her hair standing up.
"Oh, about that... That, I can't help it. You know, how the Lu's has been working before don't you? My aura, sometimes it came out without me knowing it... I will control it better in the future. Don't worry." Lu Sheng uncrossed his leg and bowed slightly to Jane.
No matter how high his position in the Lu family, he still treats Jane as his sister.
He respects his sister, but sometimes, due to some special circumstances where he needs to show his authority, he needed to show some disrespect to her, because it involves the issue of the future heir to the Lu Clan.
"Are you still involved in that kind of business?" Jane was slightly stunned when he bowed his head to her. She never expected the high and mighty Lu Sheng, would go to such length to apologize to his sister.

They were both startled to hear his laugh. Suzy's face looks like she was about to cry any seconds now. The laugh is not soothing at all. Instead, it was more like an evil laugh...
Jane rubbed her daughter's shoulder, consoling her. She did not feel the cold sweat trickling down her spine anymore, but it was still a terrifying laughter to them.

Jane scrunched her face trying to recall back as much as a memory she could.
She barely remembers the things that have happened at the inner courtyard. All she could recall during her stay inside was just the drastic change of lifestyle there.
It is more peaceful and quiet, with a lady servant and an attendant. Every demand that she has, was provided to her without a question asked. She is free to do anything that she wants while living in the inner courtyard.
Her father sometimes comes and visit her family, but he did not bother much her life during their stay. He sometimes showed Mia a some kind of rotating orb, and Mia would always laugh and followed his grandfather away.
After a few hours, her father would send Mia back to her courtyard. When Mia decided to leave China and moved out to the US, her father did not come and visit as much as he used to, instead, a disciple of her father would always deliver messages from her father.
"I could only remember the part where Father's disciple would come and go in our courtyard, delivering some messages from him to us. Nothing out of ordinary tho..."
"Nothing out of ordinary? Did father has ever showed you any glowing orb or... is there any weird occurrence ever happened in your courtyard? Something like people disappearing and coming in your courtyard without you noticing?" Lu Sheng scrutinized his sister.
'Is she dumb, or... she could not remember anything that she saw in the courtyard?'
'Did father do something to her memory?'
