Chapter 42: The Discussion 5

Dubois sat and drank his cup of coffee, joining Jeff in the pantry. What Jeff said make him think.

'So, there are 2 plans right now. No, there are 3 plans. One is the obvious space program, another would be the floating bunker... and another would be the supplementary stadium-like shelter.'

'I am going to trust Jeff again, just for this once.'

"Alright then. So what I can say is that roughly the idea is that nobody was left behind. It just that, the extent of help differs accordingly, to the different classes of people present. Am I right?" Dubois speaks leisurely to Jeff.

"You are right. The able-bodied people, will have the chance to be sent out to space. Whereas people like me, the old and unfit to make the travel, but have some status in the society can stay inside the special floating bunker. The normal citizen who is too young and too old will have to make do inside the stadium-like shelter."

Clasping his hands together, Jeff turned and looks at Dubois.

"No matter how rich you are, but you did not have the right health to make the space travel, you can only stay back here in the second class. The point is, a healthy body wins, this time around, not money. It will be foolish if those rich people who are already deemed unfit for the travel but still insist on going to space. It will be similar to digging their own grave."

Dubois nodded his head in agreement. Jeff is right. No matter what, money cannot buy a healthy body. Not yet, in this era.

"Wait, they might not even have a grave once they died, but their dead body might be sent out of the Pods to roam mindlessly in the outer space." Jeff gave off a small laugh at his joke.

Chuckling at Jeff's word, Dubois replied, "Yeah. It will be less hassle, to deal with the dead bodies in space. Just chucked them out through the door, and that's it." Laughing at the end of his speech, Dubois could feel that this disaster has turned his personality colder by the day.

"Alright then, I better call up my friend Mike. He is in Alaska now, we have received some data that indicates all the volcano in Alaska might go off in any days now. "

Jeff waves his hand to Dubois before picking up his phone and laptop. Jeff made his way out of the pantry to the parking lot outside with his mind busy, thinking about his bleak future.

Lucy sighed a breath of relief after she has recorded her video. The days inside the bunker, Lucy has spent by creating YouTube videos and garnered more than 5 million subscribers already.

Her main topic would be the news of natural disasters, and the people probably were intrigued to know the truth as well, and that what's make them to subscribe Lucy's Youtube channel.

"Gotta find Mike and record his response for this. If I can rope him in, to convince the people that the world is dying, it would be great..." Lucy mumbled to herself as she packed her recording equipment, and dashed out of her suite.

"Ah, it is so convenient to record my video now that the trouble maker Suzy moved out to the next suite room..." Lucy hummed the words happily when she observes the studio that used to house both of the siblings, now has become her private studio room.

Walking down to Mike's room, Lucy noticed a few vacant studios and suite rooms along the way.

Ever since the program ended 3 months ago, a lot of the Rich family has moved out of the bunker, and ended their 'vacation'.

Only a few who stay back, as they are still having concern about the disasters that kept happening all around the unexpectedly. Surprisingly, the Commander of the team did not say anything once the people decided to overstay, as long as they pay up the high living cost.

As for Seth and his family, well let just say that Jason has been generous enough to pay for all of them since they got nowhere to go now.

Ben has been planning to go back and build back his house in Hawaii, but somehow, the island seems to get worse than before. The other volcano was showing signs of eruption for a few months. What's making it weirder was, the Mauna Loa and Kilauea who have just erupted a few months ago were showing signs of eruption again!

So, Ben stays back in the bunker, with his brother Seth. He is not foolish enough to go back and face the danger all over again.

Walking to Mike's room made Lucy ponders about the recent events that have been happening around the world. Lucy has been asking Seth on when would they leave the bunker and continue their lives, it has been 6 months, but Seth has been hesitating on where would they reside next.

In 6 months, the two volcanoes in Hawaii are going to erupt again soon. Soon, the volcanoes in Alaska will erupt...

Mike says that it will erupt simultaneously.

'Well it is not that weird, considering most of the volcanoes in Alaska, were somehow strategically aligned together in the small islands of volcanoes...'

'What was weird was the constant off the chart tsunami, that somehow wiped out all small islands, and cities... I wonder what happen to those people?'

As Lucy walks on with her thoughts wandering to the people of the less fortunate, she stumbles upon Mike himself that just came out, out of nowhere.

Lucy was startled, and stopped her track immediately before crashing onto Mike.

"Woah, are you a ghost? where did you come from?? Geez, we almost collide together, you know?" Grumbling, showing her protest to Mike she pats her chest to calm the rapid heartbeat.

"Oops, sorry. Didn't see you just now. I-I am just here just now. You are the one who thinks a lot and almost bump into me. Who knows what were you thinking when you walked without looking at your left and right?" Mike stutters. He almost gave himself away just now.

He did not walk behind Lucy just now, but he just exited his secret lab, which was on Lucy's right. He was rushing to go back to his suite just now, that he did not notice Lucy was just standing behind the door of his lab.

"Heh? you are not out from somewhere secret are you?" Squinting her eyes and observing Mike up and down, Lucy interrogate Mike like he was some kind of criminal.

Feeling intrigued by the question, Mike replied, "What makes you think like that young lady?"

"..."

Lucy just shrugged her shoulders and brushed off Mike's question, by walking away.

'She did not see the secret entrance of the lab did she?'

Crossing his hands together, Mike walked behind Lucy quietly.

When he saw Lucy stops in front of his suite, Mike halted his step.

"What are you doing in front of my door?"

"Oh, nothing. I just thought of asking you to give an interview for my youtube video." Smiling smugly at Mike, Lucy gave off the vibe of an arrogant lady when she asked Mike.
