Chapter Sixteen. A plan is a plan

24 HOURS BEFORE THE CHANCELLOR'S ASSASSINATION….

Somewhere in the Central District area of Coruscant

The tavern was in an uproar, two-time champion Xed Cambet had just lost his first blaster fight- and his life in only a few seconds. He was rumored to be the fastest gunslinger in the galaxy. His fingers were never far from his holstered weapons. The LD- three elevens he always had. Two ancient weapons that were used during the Old Republic times. Well, he didn't need them now. His body still lay in front of the round corner table in the back of the bar, a Rodian and his partner were flipping through his pockets, looking for anything that might be of value. They kept clear of the man's killer. A man wearing black and red colored armor. Next to him was a pretty woman and a man with a tattoo covering nearly half of his face. Xed had been drinking a lot, bragging to the two women hanging on either side of his arms about how he had killed another gunslinger on the world of Tatooine. But they weren't listening to him, they had turned and followed everyone's gaze to the man that walked through the door. The armored man. Xed had heard of Mandalorians being really tough and very good in a fight, He didn't think so, he was pretty sure they were making it up to make themselves look good. So full of liquor and feeling very good, he started hurling insults at the armored man. The woman at his side, reached for her blaster pistol. Good, he'd just start with her first, was what crossed his mind. He was already drawing his pistols when suddenly his arms felt heavy and numb. He looked down and saw the gaping, steaming hole in his chest. He couldn't believe it. He pitched face first into the floor, blaster pistols falling out of his fingers. The last thing he saw was the Mandalorian's own blaster drawn and it's steaming muzzle.

Zekk stared at the man in disgust. Ignoring the shouts and whoops from the bar's customers. The dead man was too cocky, he didn't even have any true talent. He had been just lucky, well, up till now. Now he was dead. "Nice work, now everyone wants to buy us a drink." Bandit said, he slipped into the empty seat beside the bounty hunter, taking a swig of his drink. "The Jedi was pretty good, I will give them that." Kerren said, she ignored Bandit as she started talking about her star fighter duel with the Jedi. "Whoever they were, they almost had me." She reluctantly admitted. Zekk Stilco chuckled. "We didn't have much luck either. I didn't think there was any Jedi who could actually use the Force on missiles and laser cannon fire." He added. Bandit glanced up at them both, holding his cup in between his hands. "Well, if we are going after the Chancellor, we need to precede with the upmost caution. These Jedi are dangerous, and probably looking for us right now. The good news is that this planet is so freaking big that they don't know exactly where we are. But they have a general location." He pulled out his data pad and tapped in his code. "They know we are going to try to take a shot at the Chancellor, so they believe we will be hanging around the area of where his speech is going down. The Coruscant Plaza. Its pretty much open but when there are a lot of people crammed into there, it gets pretty crowded. Chancellor Valorum was nearly assassinated there. If we use a sniper, the Jedi will be expecting that. But not if we get close and take him out with an actual projectile weapon, such as your flechette pistol. Its quiet and the dart can't be traced. And since there will be a big crowd, no one will know who actually pulled it off." Bandit paused, handing over his data pad to the bounty hunter. "I just pulled up a list of the things we need. I know guys who have all of these top-grade weapons and gadgets. I can go get them if that's what you want." Kerren was listening with only half an ear, her eyelids kept opening and falling.

She was tired, every time she used her ability it seemed to drain and sap at her energy. And using it to teleport something as big as a star ship had most definitely drained it. "Yeah, sounds good. Whatever you say." She mumbled. Zekk Stilco held the pad in his gloved hands, eyes scanning the list. He didn't think that it was such a good idea to use a sniper, but maybe a decoy? He was sure the Jedi were expecting them to use a ranged weapon, who would be stupid enough to get close to take a shot at the Chancellor? But that edge was maybe what they needed. If they didn't expect it then maybe they could pull it off. He nodded. "Go ahead and get this gear. Hold off on the thermal grenades and shock nets. Those won't have any effects on the Jedi if they Force push them away." He handed the pad back, feeling a wave of tiredness hit him as well. "That can wait until tomorrow. We need to get some sleep." Bandit tossed his pad into his jacket's pocket, downing the last of his drink in a quick gulp. "Alright. Come on, honey. Get up and lets go." He nudged the snoring Kerren awake. "Leave me be. I will kick your precious manhood up through your throat." She growled, she yawned and slowly got to her feet. "Whoa. Easy there, kid. I was just telling you to wake up. No need to get all angry, you wouldn't talk to Stilco like that." She glared at him, yawning again. "He's not a womanizer." Bandit sighed and held up his hands in defeat. "I can't even try with this girl, I'm going to go get us some rooms. Should I go for two or three? I can let you two young couple have passionate-" Kerren flashed out of Zekk's vision for a split second and then she was suddenly behind Bandit, dagger tip jabbing his rib cage. "Shut. It. Now." She slowly enunciated each word carefully. Bandit laughed, holding his hands out and away from himself. "Whatever you say. Three rooms it is." He walked off toward the bartender but quickly turned back around to throw a wink at Kerren. She rolled her eyes and sighed. "He's so stupid." She muttered. "Kerren." The Mandalorian said. She looked at him, raising her eyebrows. "Hm?" He gestured to the slimy still oozing and dripping off of her body, it pooled beneath her booted feet. She sighed again.
