Chapter 64: Prisoner

The days have passed since I healed the woman, Vezena. My daily life has been systematically the same. Taking care of my garden, taking care of the woman, and building up a stockpile of clay.

While she has not woken up, at this point, her body has appeared to become healthier, compared to what I saw of her, right after bringing her back to my place. While previously, she looked devoid of life, nearly corpse-like, she has a luster about her now. The days are counting day until she wakes.

I am not sure when, I had at one time, decided to call Vezena a creature, now though, I have started to consider her a person. It was probably when I started to heal her, and saw all the damage that was done. While I will not excuse her actions, do to her mental state, it caused me to see that there were other circumstances involved with her life. I just do not know what they were.

I still have no idea what I am going to do with Vezena, whenever she does wake up. At this point, I am trying to just go with the flow, and deal with matters when they occur. It is not the most appropriate thing that I could do, but I have no idea on how to handle this situation.

Because I am in this situation, where I have no idea when she will come to conscious, I have not been able to leave my place, in order to seek out advice. That is one detriment to my current living conditions. I can only rely on my own self, with limited availability to get help to alleviate my problems. I am willing to admit that I have constructed this situation of my own accord.

Would I change what I have done, if I had to do it again? No, there is no way I would alter my course. While I my have burdened myself with my difficulties, I, for the most part, do not regret what has led me to follow my current path.

I have the ability to see the family that I want to protect. I also have the ability to seclude myself from all others. Even though I do chide myself over some things, I am willing to carry those burdens.

* * *

It is around the eighth day when I finally heard a frantic struggle coming from my basement. Cries of, I am not sure if they are fear, frustration, or something else, came from my prisoner. She has finally awoken, alone with no idea of where she was at. There is no reason that she would not act in such a manner.

I was coming back to the house when I first started to hear her cries. There is always work to be done, at least at this time of year, so with me being out of the house for extended periods of time, was not uncommon. I have no idea how long since she has regained consciousness.

I have tried to make some plans on what I should do, when she does wake up, but at this point, I still have no idea on how I should act. There is an idea, on that I should wield my position of power, as she had been an attacker against me. But there is also the idea of trying to be soothing, trying to reason with her, and let things play out organically.

Without any prior experience in this situation, there is not a clue on how I should react. Even if I had done something like this, previously, I am not sure if I could prepare myself, even still. Each person is different, and has different experiences which shape them. I have no clue on what she is truly like.

"Relax. I'm coming down. I'm not going to harm you." (Rehor)

"Where am I? Who are you? Why am I here?" (Vezena)

Small thanks, that she has some reasoning to her. She is not trying to aggressively release herself, at least from my point of view. Her understanding that she has lost her freedom, has not made me her enemy, right now.

"Settle down. You're going to hurt yourself." (Rehor)

"Why are you doing this to me? I've done nothing wrong to you." (Vezena)

"You have tried to attack me, previously. That is why I tied you up. Don't you remember?" (Rehor)

"I've never seen you before. Where is my father? He'll sort things out." (Vezena)

"What? You were alone when we met." (Rehor)

"I don't remember that. I was with my father, traveling to some town. I don't remember why we were traveling, but that doesn't matter. I was with my father." (Vezena)

"No. You were by yourself, when you came into my camp. And then, you attacked me." (Rehor)

"How could I do that? I don't even know you. Let me go, please." (Vezena)

Okay, I am seriously confused. I have been sending out my power ever since I came down to the basement. If I did not have my power, I could only assume that she was acting out some script, but with being able to read her emotional state, she truly believes what she is saying.

From her point of view, she has no idea what our previous interaction was like. She does not remember having attacked me. The damage I did to her, must have caused some lasting damage that I could not have foreseen.

"Let's start of with something simple. I'm Rehor. What's your name?" (Rehor)

"It's… Ve...zena. But, that name doesn't seem to be right. What did you do to me?" (Vezena)

"I've healed you, if you are willing to believe that. That is, after I had defend myself against you." (Rehor)

"You're lying. I have no reason to attack you." (Vezena)

"But you did." (Rehor)

"Just let me go. I'll leave right now, and I will forget what happened." (Vezena)

"That's not going to happen. I want to know why you attacked me. And now, I also want to find out why you can't remember that. Until I have some answer, I am not letting you go." (Rehor)

Webnovel contacted me about signing a contract with them. At this point, I have not decided on if I should do that. I am writing for fun, so I don't see the need of exploiting what I am doing, but I am considering on if I should do that.

For now, thank you for reading.
