Chapter 50: Words of Wisdom

"What is your opinion on my work?" (Rehor)

"It's a decent enough effort. It's no work of art, but as you are still learning, it's fine." (Girts)

"Thank you, sir. Though, what is wrong with them?" (Rehor)

"They are too large for what I need. As this was a custom order, you should have verified what I wanted, and not assumed what I wanted. If you had a specific size that you make, you should have told me." (Girts)

"If you don't like them, I can remake them. I am able to utilize them for my own self." (Rehor)

"Don't worry about that. They are of decent quality, and I do need them. So don't worry about needing to remake them. In the future, you just need to discuss the specifications of what you are doing, and make sure your customer is okay with it." (Girts)

"I'm sorry. It is my ignorance showing. I will try harder in the future." (Rehor)

"You've never done business before. Learning these types of things come with experience. You'll learn more in the future. Be glad that I am the one purchasing them." (Girts)

"Again, I'm sorry I did not verify your request properly. I will try harder in the future, and take your words to heart." (Rehor)

"From what I'm seeing, at this moment, you will never be any master of the craft, but you should be able to increase your competency of our skills. Just work harder, and educate yourself as you progress." (Girts)

"I did not hope to be a master. Pottery is something I can do, so I decided to make a career out of it. I just want to live a comfortable life." (Rehor)

"You should still take pride in what you do." (Girts)

"I'm attempting to do that. I know that I have work to do in that area." (Rehor)

"Good. At this point, that's all I can ask of you. Now, on to the more pressing point. How much do I owe you for your labor?" (Girts)

"I don't know. I have never bought or sold any type of pottery before, and I don't know how much they should be selling for. I was hoping to ask you for your advice on it." (Rehor)

"You don't even have a rough idea?" (Girts)

"If I was pressed for an answer, I would say… seven iron coins, per pot." (Rehor)

"Why do you say that price?" (Girts)

"It is a fairly basic pot, and I didn't put too much work into making them. As such, seven sounds about right." (Rehor)

"While you might not have worked too hard on them, you have to consider that something like them are used for a long amount of time. In some cases, they will last a lifetime." (Girts)

"I didn't consider that. So how much would you suggest?" (Rehor)

"Two bronze. If you make them more decorative, you could double the price, easily." (Girts)

"Thank you for your advice." (Rehor)

"Your welcome." (Girts)

"Then I'll charge you half that price, per pot. So six bronze coins, total, for all eight that I made. (Rehor)

"What?" (Girts)

"You're my first customer, and I'm using you for practice. Therefore, I should give you some type of discount. And since this is not what you wanted, I should take some loss, on my part." (Rehor)

"Intriguing. I'll give you ten bronze. Six for the pots, and the rest, for a deposit for your future." (Girts)

"You don't have to do that." (Rehor)

"It's my privilege as the buyer to give a tip, if I so choose." (Girts)

"I appreciate it." (Rehor)

"It was good doing business with you. Now, I have another order…" (Girts)

* * *

I did not take another order from Girts today. I had already messed up enough in my first foray into business, and I do not wish to make another mistake. After letting him know that I would come back in a few days, when I could take proper notes. There was also my sisters waiting for my presence, and I should not leave them waiting for too long.

Even though there are some supplies that I should start accruing for use, today is not the day for that type of work. I have time in the future for that type of shopping. Ignoring my sisters for any longer than I have already done, is just plainly wrong.

Though, I do have some income, maybe I should buy them something. The hard part, is that I do not know what they want or need. Should I buy them something on a whim, or should I have them pick out something that they want?

No, I know my own inability to choose something for a girl. And, these are my sisters that I am talking about. If I chose something incorrectly, it could imply something that I do not mean.

Females, I know nothing about them. In either life, I have never been able to understand them. In this world, it is even worse.

Other than my sisters, and Mother, I have only spent time around the few females that were part of the same training that I was put through. With the girls at the hall, the personal desires for physical things was never discussed around me. Much to my chagrin, I have learned no knowledge of what girls in this world like.

After all, I should let Sofija and Katarina decide what they should get for themselves.

"Let me buy something for you lovely ladies." (Rehor)

I had approached my sisters without letting them know of my presence, when I asked them this question.

"Oh, goodie." (Sofija)

"You don't have to. Though, it would put you in my good graces." (Katarina)

"Alright then. Sofija, you can get two things, since your sister doesn't want anything." (Rehor)

"Hey, I didn't say that." (Katarina)

"Nope. I get two presents from brother." (Sofija)

"Come on, let me have one of them. It was just a joke. I didn't mean it in truth." (Katarina)

"No!" (Sofija)

"But…" (Katarina)

"Two it is, for Sofija that is." (Rehor)

"Wait. Stop. Come on. Please." (Katarina)

"Hmm. Maybe, if you can persuade Sofija." (Rehor)

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
ApollyonDais ApollyonDais

Wasn't planning on writing this, today. Start of my weekend here, and felt relaxed, and just wanted to write something. Beer and exhaustion can be a good combination, at times.
