Chapter 36: What Do I Do
We sat there, in that small and hidden cavity, for a fair few minutes. I am trying to give Katarina the time to restrain her overflowing emotions.
"We need to be getting back to the house. Mommy and Daddy are waiting for us." (Rehor)
Eventually, though, when I realized that she was in control of herself, I made my vocal suggestion for us to leave here. While I understand that Katarina might be adverse to me leaving, even if it is to see our parents, we have made them wait long enough.
"You called them Mommy and Daddy. Hahaha." (Katarina)
"Is that so offensive to your ears?" (Rehor)
"I'm sorry, you're an adult, and you called them Mommy and Daddy." (Katarina)
Katarina just laughed at my utterance. I know it is weird, to call your parents Mommy and Daddy, when you are no long a child, but I was away from them, when I would have started to become embarrassed by calling them that. Why should I feel embarrassed by calling them as such, they are my Mommy and Daddy.
"And? What, are you too old to call them that? Do you think that they would care if you called them that, Miss I'm too old for that?" (Rehor)
"Why yes I am." (Katarina)
I remember this type of banter. It might have been more childish, as we were both children, but mocked each other, all the time. It feels supremely simple to fall into the rhythm, that we used to play be immersed in.
I left the small cave first. Opening up the way for Katarina, I offered her my services to get out of it. While there was plenty of room in there for a child's body, for a teenage girl, it was starting to be confining.
"Come on, let's go." (Rehor)
"Ouch! That hurt." (Katarina)
"What'cha do?" (Rehor)
"I hit my leg on the wall. Dang it, it hurts." (Katarina)
"Let me see, I can help." (Rehor)
* Whack *
"You...you perverted brother." (Katarina)
"What did I do?" (Rehor)
How am I a pervert? I just want to check her leg, and help her out. It would be easier to help her out if I saw what happened. How is that perverted?
"You want to see my legs? How is that not perverted?" (Katarina)
"I was just going to try and heal your leg." (Rehor)
"You don't look like any type of healer to me. So how were you going to help?" (Katarina)
Oh, yeah, I can see how she might see that as a questionable request. I have lived to long at the hall, that I have forgotten how other people think and act. The lack of emotions make being embarrassed a thing that most Unleashed forget about.
"Hold on. Let me prove to you that I wasn't lying." (Rehor)
It was not large, but there was a small scratch on her arm, probably from when she brushed by the bush. While I could heal her from a distance, I decide not to. So, I grabbed her hand with one of my own, and with my other, I put it in front of her small wound, and let my power out, healing her.
"What was that?" (Katarina)
"It was my proof, that I wasn't trying to do anything pervy." (Rehor)
"No. How did you do that?" (Katarina)
"It's my power. The thing I left to learn how to control." (Rehor)
"You're a wizard, Rehor?" (Katarina)
"No, I'm not any type of wizard. While it is magical, I'm not anything like a wizard." (Rehor)
"But it's magic, doesn't that make you a wizard?" (Katarina)
"To the best of what I know, wizards aren't real. I'm what you call an Unleashed." (Rehor)
"What's an Unleashed?" (Katarina)
"Don't worry about it right now. I'll talk about it when we get back to our parents. Now, let my heal your leg." (Rehor)
Luckily, her trousers were loose enough, that she could pull up the leg far enough that I could see her injury. It was not anything massive, but open wounds are much harder to heal than any weal or welt that was commonly needed to be healed at the hall. I am happy that this power that I have, was able to help my dear sister.
Soon enough, her wound was completely healed. Other than a small bit of blood, there was nothing else to be seen that she had previously been injured. I am not the best at healing, but I have to power and control to be able to heal surface injuries, like that.
"Alright, you're good now." (Rehor)
"That was amazing. But my leg still hurts. Give me a ride home." (Katarina)
"Don't lie to me, you're all better. And a ride? You're not some like kid, for me to give a piggyback ride to." (Rehor)
"I don't care. As your punishment, you are giving me a ride home." (Katarina)
"How selfish…" (Rehor)
"What did you say?" (Katarina)
"Nothing, my sweet, adorable, unselfish sister." (Rehor)
Sigh, I forgot how demanding my sister can be. I can not think of a time where she did not get what she wanted, from me. I have spoiled her too much. Even to this day, I do not think that I could deny a simple request.
Kneeling down, I realize, I have only shown her one part of what I gained from my training. There is another part that I have suffered to gain, my speed and endurance. And when she has finally gotten into her position for her ride home, I push myself to my fastest sustained speed.
"Slow down. Let me down." (Katarina)
"I can't, this is my punishment. I'll bring you home as quick as I can." (Rehor)
I am glad that I can, at least for now, enjoy this minuscule harassment on Katarina. Even though this is something childish, it makes me happy that I can irritate her, this slightest amount. I needed this cathartic release. The idiocy of life, that was devoid during my training.
"Okay, I'm warmed up. I think I can go a little faster." (Rehor)
"Wait. Wait. Stop. Slow down. You jerk." (Katarina)

ApollyonDais Why did I decide to title each chapter by a song title? I'm regretting it now. It's taking me over 10 minutes just to find a title that fits, and I hope that it's not a title I will want to use in the future.
