Chapter 17: Chapter 1

There were two things that Rock valued more then anything. Family and friends. After loosening his mom early on in life, Rock was raised by his father and his friends. Growing up, Rock had four fathers, including his birth, and six mothers, two of who had breast fed him as a baby as his mother died two weeks after his birth. Due to the large family he had, Rock learned all sorts of skills and trades, blacksmithing, tailoring, cooking, cleaning, swordplay, music, and more. He was also the town's favorite son. As the mayor's son he was spoiled as a baby, but his father and mother had both been very kind souls, and Rock got the best of both of them. Despite being spoiled and brought up like a prince. Rock was still humble, and also always willing to work. For example, the blacksmith made him a sword, and Rock would would use it to help the people, weather at hunting, or defending the town. Rock was well liked. There was no denying that. Men practically threw their daughters at him, not that they complained. Rock was what many women saw as a true man, he wasn't scrawny, nor was he weak. He had enough muscle to work as a stonemason or as a blacksmith, he had dark blue eyes he got from his mother, and black messy hair on his head. He stood tall at six foot seven, looming over most, and blocking daylight to any looking up to him. Despite his menacing appearance that sometimes scared the hell out of those that didn't know him, he was kind and as soft as a lamb. Kids loved him and by default so did most of the parents, he would play with the town's children, teaching them useful skills of being fair and friendly to everyone, not just people they knew. By the time he was eighteen, more than half of the town's women had tried to take him in their bed for the night. Everyone failed as he wasn't looking for some fling. He wanted true love with a special someone. This had only made the women want him more. Now twenty-five he was now running the town as mayor, as his father and stepmother had decided to travel. This changed nothing in his eyes, as he was certain he could do it. And so far he was. Till that day in june. It was hot that year, and the grass surrounding the town was dried up and very burnable, Rock had made mention of building some sort of fire break around the town, however it was never done as they had more pressing matters to attend to. A week later, on a warm summer night, the attack came. A legion of creatures that looked human but were not came and burned the village, raping women, kidnapping children and killing the men. Rock put up a fight to defend his home but was defeated. As he was about to die, a flash of light occurred and drove away the aggressors, leaving Rock to pass out in the burning remains of his home.

Rock awoke not really knowing what had happened or how long he had been out. pulling him self from the rubble he saw his clothes singed and torn. sighing he walked out into the town, seeing a sight that made him collapse to his knees in frustration, anger, and sadness, as the town had burned down. women cried over their husband's deaths. children crying for their parents, he felt so useless. "Sir." This voice Rock knew well. turning he found his eyes on Walter, an old knight in the last years of the kingdom stood there. "At your command, I'll round up any i can to start searching for any more survivers." said Walter. "Do as you must, I want a report on what happened to who and the number of dead and wounded." Said Rock. Walter nodded and got to work. This attack was the first in a long line of events that would lead to more problems for Rock, but for now he was going to try and recover.

With the change of seasons the cold blew in. For the struggling town this was a curse. most of their supplies had been spent building new homes and the start of a wall, but with fall there, and winter soon on it's way, the town called for a board meeting. "We can't stay here. With frost on the ground our crops won't grow. Food is short already and the few people that are here are mostly women and children. We won't survive threw the winter. It's best we leave." Said one of the council men. "Mr. Mayor I understand the need to rebuild but the town won't recover, we will loose half of our remaining population at the least if we don't leave." Said another Council member. Rock stood looking out the window. what ever had attacked them hadn't been human. And with winter on the way the town was far to vulnerable as all their stock and supplies were destroyed. "As much as it pains me, I here by order a full evacuation. We will send word to the capital about this and arrange a shelter agreement. Meanwhile prepare for departure." said Rock.
