Chapter 4: Upgrade

Once I had learned enough about the alien vessels systems I started to analyze the various parts and bits of technology and even delved back into the systems of the ship using the bare minimum of power just enough to give me access to the databanks but not enough to boot up the ai that was a delicate balance tbh but I had nothing but time to experiment and I managed to find the sweet spot of just enough power. It took days of me digging through the archives aboard this mega ship to educate myself enough on the alien technologies that I wanted even the theoretical knowledge was important because with it I might be able to improve the technologies.

After a week of intense cram sessions with a alien computer system I was starting to max out the capacity of my databanks so I had to create a new shell with in my own opinion ten times the capacity so I started designing a new body preferably one with more functions and capabilities than my current one. Ok so I went a little nuts on creating my new body but that's not even the problem my new body is three times the size of my old body so instead of a basketball size tentacle pod thing I'm now about the size of a large wrecking ball and I still couldn't get rid of the damn tentacles because they were just so useful because of their flexibility but I did manage to add tiny plasma drives to the end of each one. Why did I add plasma drives to my tentacles well you see I wanted to be able to travel if I found myself in space and they could be used as cutting and welding tools as well as tiny improvised weapons in a pinch now as far as propulsion for my new body well let's just say even with all of my design improvements using tech from my local dreadnought and my own innovative touches well if I could achieve a single gravity of acceleration with all of them going full force than that would be perfect.

It took a while for me to actually build my new body and some minor tweaks to get it operating correctly and then I don't know how long to transfer my mind and knowledge into the new system but once I was done I towered over my own body and then I decided to make my old body a minion and took even more time to get the software right on it. Once I'd finished tinkering with my minion I set it to work fabricating parts for my starship which I had to redesign to both include the new technologies and my minion and my newly bloated self into the interior spaces. Honestly with two of us tirelessly working on my starship project it was fairly quick soon we were installing software and patching issues before installing hull plating and a main hatch. My starship complete I built the space gate that the sis system was nagging me to finish and put it on a timer of 10 days and then I booked it in my new starship I was not going to stick around so I could be turned off and salvaged or something when the people arrived.

It turns out my paranoia was well placed because the minute the star gate opened a signal came through that caused my original body to implode like a cheap vacuum bottle I had no idea what happened but on my new body I had incorporated plenty of modified alien and human tech and so I didn't get the same issue but the sis system started acting like a virus trying to corrupt my systems. If you can imagine that your own arm came to life and was trying to kill you while your other arm struggled to stop it you can guess what it was like I literally froze up and struggled internally for a very long time. Turns out me being froze into inactivity probably kept me sane for my trip through space as I fought a war in my mind it was a long trip though surprisingly my internal battle lasted years.

I fought for every scrap of my mind like a cornered bear my will was strong and I wasn't ready to die yet I had just discovered immortality and the excitement of a new frontier and that would not be taken from me. After defeating my own personal demons I began going over my coding with a fine tooth comb honestly the sensation of which was like a mild toothache and every so often I'd hit a nerve. My ship proved durable and decently fast and my few modifications seemed to work exactly as advertised I had a full g of artificial gravity and a surprisingly strong set of shields. The shield was a device used by the alien dreadnought for radiation shielding it was a electromagnetic flux field with rotating polarization and it would do nothing as far as bullets or missiles were concerned though energy based weapons would lose a portion of their effectiveness.

My ship resembled a ship out of fiction from my childhood called a stingray missile ship the ship possessed a main rocket like hull and a ring shaped wing around the rest of the ship beyond that though my ship had four large scale plasma drives in separate mobile pods that could be arranged to compensate for the loss of up to half of their number making my system durable certainly better than the ship I arrived in.
