Chapter 16: A Friend
Adrien
"Plaag, do you feel that?" I looked towards the ceiling feeling uneasy.
"Well my stomach has been feeling a little off, probably due to you running low on my cheese!!" He replied.
"I'm serious, what if there was an akuma attack?" I suddenly had an idea as I pulled out my phone, clicking on the latest broadcast on TVi news.
~"Don't be bemused, it's just the news!" Nadja Chamack reported, "downtown, an akumatized villain who goes by the name Sugar-Plum is raging havoc to the city, will Ladybug and Catnoir be able to save our city once again? I..." She was interrupted as a stray beam hit changing her and the cameraman into a pile of candy, causing the camera to drop with a crash; distorting the video quality.
"Can you smell the sweet aroma of victory?" Sugar-Plum said in a singsong voice as she pulled the camera to her face, "newsflash!!, Your time's up" she placed her hands over the screen. *Beep*. ~
"Oh no!, Why did this have to happen now?" I looked at the time the broadcast aired, "it's 5 minutes ago!!".
"Ladybug can handle it, and she could call on other miraculous holders to help her out" Plaag rested on Adrien's shoulder, "she'll just be fine, don't sweat it!" Plaag reasoned.
"I just hope you're right" I clicked on the footage again, "would she even need my help?, I seem not to do anything right these few weeks".
"Hey!, When I said she would call other miraculous holders, I didn't mean they could replace you, infact no one can replace you, you're Ladybug and Catnoir; a team" Plaag said with enthusiasm, with his little hands he pulled Adrien's face towards his direction, "look at me!, You're special to me Adrien, all my other holders I called master, but you; I'm happy to call you a friend" Plagg hugged his cheek.
"Now who's going all sensitive on me?" I grinned as I pat Plagg, "is that tears I feel?" I teased.
"It must be the lack of cheese acting up" he sniffled.
"Sure it was" I couldn't help but laugh at his antics, "you're right though, Ladybug can handle it on her own, I trust her".
"Yeah, now where's the remaining cheese?" He sniffed Adrien's pockets, "I can't wait to be back at the mansion".
"Speak for yourself, if I had my way I would stay with.." I hadn't given much thought on who I would want to stay with if I ever had the chance even if it was a sleepover.
"Let's see" he rubbed his chin, "well there's a certain princess who you used to visit" Plaag said with an obvious smirk as he looked anywhere but Adrien.
"No way, remember what happened last time" I pointed to my cheek, "I think she's still mad at me" all emotions of that day flooding on my once bright mood.
"Ever tried explaining your side of the story?, She might not want to see you but have you tried really talking to her without trying to cover you pain?" Plaag's voice solemn.
"You think that might work?" I was hopeful as I looked at Plaag for anything but a negative response.
"I'm positive it will" he replied.
"Wait why should I trust a cat who brings bad luck?" I couldn't help but tease him, testing his patience.
"You'll just have to wait and find out" he shrugged.
"Plaag I have one question to ask you" I looked him in the eye, "promise to tell me the truth".
"What kind of question?" He asked skeptically, munching on his leftover cheese.
"Just promise me" I drew an imaginary {X} on my heart, "it's not any information that could put anyone in danger" I replied.
"Fine" he rolled his eyes.
"Do you know the identity of Ladybug?" Underneath my plain expression, I was eager for his response.
"Whaat?" The cheese he held fell from his grip instantly, "b-but I thought you said it would not put anyone in danger" the stuttering only confirmed my suspicion- he knew!.
"I said do you know her identity, not who she is" I tried clarifying.
"Oh, in that case, yes I do" he recovered from his momentary shock as he picked up his cheese, "but I'm not revealing nothing more than that".
"Alright", I rose my hands in defense, "that was all I wanted to hear" but if he knew then I must have seen her before.
"Okay?!" He looked at me suspiciously before resuming his munching.
"You know what?, If master Fu had given me the option to choose a miraculous, I would have still chosen you" the lines just slipped out of my mouth.
"Have you been preparing that line for weeks?" Now it was Plaag's turn to tease.
"Whatever, we should get some shut-eye" I yawned, "tomorrow!, Paris!".
