Chapter 17: Prep

Xian and Yiyi had separated, and the girl was mindlessly walking towards the school's pick up area while trying to think of an explanation as to why Xian had left her without an answer. She couldn't come up with an answer. The villain was acting too different from how he acts later in the story. Yiyi thought the current villain's personality wasn't that bad, so what changed causing him to become the way he was in the book. Before she had time to consider if the change in personality was because of her, the secretary of the Sheng's came up to her, and called, "Young Miss.. the Madam wishes for you to stay at the main house, in preparation for tomorrow.". "Ah I understand, stop by the apartment first, I have to pick some things up." Yiyi tried to keep a calm demeanor, but she knew that she would be staying with the original's loving family. Her heart rate rose a bit, as she was finally getting the chance to be a part of a loving family, despite it not being her own. As they started driving, they had arrived at the apartment complex shortly after. The girl headed towards her room. She still felt regretful towards the girl whose place she had taken. The system had tried to cheer her up a bit. In a gentle tone, he called out, [Hey.. you realize that the Sheng Yiyi from the novel was like a doll? She didn't have a soul, so you just filled it when I brought you here.] For the first time, the system spoke in a genuine voice, but it was too out of character, that Yiyi's blood felt a bit cold. "..." She was still conflicted, it was hard for her to believe that all the characters were susceptible to change. The girl's heart was turning about. Since she decided to protect the original Sheng Yiyi's family, she started believing that the Sheng's weren't just a quick line description she had read about in the novel. She hadn't gotten that close to her classmates yet, but from afar they also seemed to have a depth that a character in a book wouldn't have. She tried to consider that maybe it was because you know early on whether some is bad or not in novels, but you can't really tell until something happens in a book. She whispered, "Xian's the villain..." The voice came out unsure. He hadn't done anything terrible to her, so even though she knew he was supposed to be the villain, she just couldn't think of him badly. Without realizing it, her heart had raced when imagining his eyes that could kill, or at the minimum make someone's legs go numb. Yiyi was almost done packing an overnight bag for her stay at the Sheng mansion. Her mind had been wandering endlessly, but when she pictured Xian's stare, she remembered she needed to take a picture of her dress and send it to him. After quickly sending a picture of her dress, she quickly finished packing, and was once again heading towards the Sheng's mansion.
