Chapter 7: Doting > Neglect

The car had pulled into a gated community, and continued to drive towards the inner section, the further they drove the more secure the area was. Yiyi nearly had her jaw dropped emotionally, however physically she kept a cool appearance in front of employees of the Sheng Company. The car finally reached it's destination as it stopped in front of another, bigger set of gates. The secretary stepped out and opened Yiyi's door. [Eh well at least they are great at customer service, you should be thankful that you're the daughter of an esteemed family.] Yiyi nodded at the secretary then walked towards the entrance of the mansion, she let out a sigh at how irritating having to listen to the system was. The doors were held open by another employee who held a warm smile as they exchanged greetings with Yiyi. At the top of the stairs Yiyi heard quick footsteps, and kept a somewhat cold exterior, assuming it was another butler when- "Yiyi!" An middle-aged man who called yiyi sweetly came thundering down the stairs. At this commotion a youthful looking woman came out through the kitchen, and got excited when she saw yiyi. She smiled sweetly and yiyi's heart wavered at the pair who greeted her so warmly. Yiyi gave them a charming smile and waited to see how they treated her before talking. Sheng Yiyi's father looked like he had tears in his eyes and ran to hug Yiyi when the youthful lady grabbed her husband's collar, and went to hug Yiyi first. Yiyi quickly gave them each a hug and after smiled awkwardly, unsure of what Sheng Yiyi usually acted like. "Yiyi-ah" Sheng Yiyi's mom called out to her with concern in her voice, it pulled at Yiyi's heart. "What's wrong? Was school hard?" The mother who looked at yiyi with loving eyes, filled yiyi with happiness and guilt since it wasn't meant for her. "Ehh?? Who dares bully our yiyi!! YAH- Liang get down here!!" The father who was being mislead by Yiyi yelled toward the second floor. A boy who wasn't much older than Yiyi walked out of an upstairs room. "Ah Yiyi hi, how was school?" He called in a bit of an insincere tone, but his eyes couldn't contain his interest in her reply. "Good" She smiled again and the doting family looked they wanted to squeeze her cheeks. Yiyi kept talking to them, and ignored the urge to cry. She answered all the questions they had about her day, and she answered with somewhat generic answers hoping that would be sufficient. After being flooded with a large dosage of family love she couldn't take the sudden change, and the sun had started setting so the Sheng family reluctantly sent her off. They tried to get Yiyi to stay for the night, but she explained how the apartments were closer to the school. The family told Yiyi to text them when she got to the apartment, and to take some of the food for the week. Yiyi changed to her unapproachable and cold appearance when she got back into the car until the apartment complex. She had felt completely drained from the entire day. With a lot to process she went into the elevator, and clicked her floor. The minute she entered her apartment she burst into tears. She felt insurmountable guilt for separating the Sheng's from the Sheng Yiyi of this world. [Host...] The system called out in a confused voice, obviously the system wasn't used to having to comfort others.. [Yiyi?] She waited in hopes her voice wouldn't break, but it came out shaky, "What is it?" [...] The system didn't know how to comfort Yiyi, so he just told her about why Yiyi became the Sheng Yiyi of this world. [Yiyi, the Sheng Yiyi from here was just a mob character-- you don't need to feel guilty about replacing her.] The girl who had curled into a ball with her head down, looked up with confusion, and anger towards the system, "You don't get it... I took her from that loving family, me being here to replace the original Yiyi, took that Yiyi out of this world." The more Yiyi felt sorrow and remorse towards the Shengs, she decided to live for the Yiyi of this world, she felt guilty for misleading the Shengs, but she solidified her stance of protecting them and maintaining a relationship with them for Yiyi... She wasn't completely sure how to have a good family relationship, and a small part of her felt jealousy, and wanted enjoy being doted on. No matter her thoughts she couldn't focus on anything else at this point in time other than living for the original Sheng Yiyi's family... With that thought in her mind she drifted to sleep as she instinctively wept for the original.
