Chapter 2: Mana
Upon reaching the park, I felt rejuvenated. The feeling was helplessness disappeared as I felt my body regaining its strength and becoming more alive. My bag of heavy books no longer felt as heavy and I could easily carry it with one hand now. The longer and closer I was at the park, the better and stronger I felt.
Despite all that, I could also feel that if I left the park, my strength will also drop and weakened me. This made me feel quite depressed since I was not willingly to stay in the park continuously. This made me think back of the elves in the anime and manga. Despite the fact that they went out of the forest, they were still able to do all sorts of feats and their body did not weakened at all.
He realized that apart from the forest, there was also mana that the elves could store in their body. Upon realizing that it was the mana in the body that allowed them to remain rejuvenated despite being away from the body, I thought of several ways to check if mana do truly exist in the modern world. Following the deduction, I tried to copy some methods to sense mana which involved a simple meditation and a focused concentration for mana.
I soon felt a new form of energy that was all around my body. I realized that I must have managed to sense mana from the surroundings. I immediately tried to gather the mana from the surroundings and tried to store it within my body which I managed to do so successfully. This gathering of mana allowed my body to become stronger and the increase in strength was permanent and would not decrease even after I left the park. The further increase in strength allowed me to even lift my college bag with one finger over my head.
After my body had become better in shape, I managed to feel the other perks of having the elves body such as enhanced hearing, enhanced sight and even enhanced reflexes. I could now see things as if they were in slow motion and could even react to them.
After absorbing enough mana, I was about to go back to school albeit late for school when I was struck by a fantastic notion. Since mana was real, was it possible for me to use magic as well?
As far as I know, in the anime and manga that I have read, there were several ways to use magic but the three most common methods to use magic would be by reciting a spell, using imagination to conjure the spell or by studying intensely and using formations and runes to use the spells. Knowing that I lacked the knowledge, I could only try the first two methods.
