36. New School

( REI POV )

Sleeping for a lot of time yesterday refreshed my body. I stood up and did some light exercise to loosen up my muscles as they were too stiff. I went towards the bathroom and brushed my teeth and washed up my face.

Today Shirogana-san said we would go to the new school so we could see it. I went back to my room and took some clothes to wear after I took a bath. After having a quick bath, I went to Sora's room and saw he was already up.

He seems to have woken up as his eyes were still half-opened and he has bed hair. He saw me and asked, "Good Morning Rei, Do you need something?"

I shook my head as I casually came to see him. I replied, "No Sora, I need nothing. I came to see what you were doing."

He nodded and waved his hand, telling me to sit. I made my way towards the chair in his room and sat.

I had a doubt, since yesterday, so I asked him, "Sora, why did you and Meiko go to a club rather than the school team?" He and Meiko could go to the school team rather than a club outside.

He turned around and replied, "The clubs give us more exposure than the school team. Many players come from distinct places to play. The clubs also allow us to play with a hardball rather than the softball used by middle school teams. If we are talking about Meiko then, she joined as there are no female baseball teams at the middle school level."

I nodded, as what he said made sense. He then went out to take his bath, and I sat alone in his room. As I looked around, I noticed everything in the room was related to baseball. He had some trophies and other baseball-related stuff.

After a while he came back refreshed, and we both made our way towards the dining room to have breakfast.

Reaching the dining room, Meiko was helping her mom with washing the dishes while Shidou-san and Shirogana-san were reading the newspaper.

I went to help Narumi-san with getting it prepared. After setting the table, we all sat down to eat. The breakfast was simple and tasty. After eating, I helped Meiko to wash the dishes.

We both went to the hall and sat with everyone.

Shirogana-san then said to the three of us, "So, shall we go towards your new school and have a look at it." we three nodded.

We all sat in the car except Shidou-san.

(THIRD PERSON POV )

As everyone except for Shidou sat in the car, Shirogana started the car. Shidou couldn't go with them as he couldn't afford to go outside much in his old age. The three kids sat at the back with Sora in the middle.

She filled the drive with questions about the new school and how it is. The ride wasn't as long as the school was rather close. Reaching the school, Everyone got down.

There was an enormous sign saying, 'SENSEN ELEMENTRY DIVISON', right outside on the wall. The school was very spacious, showing several grounds and facilities. The school had all three divisions in it, So the student strength was enormous. It separated the divisions from each other by separate buildings and entrances, to make it less possible for them to meet.

As the five went inside, the three kid's eyes wandered around. They went to the principal's cabin in the elementary division first. The three divisions had separate principles for better management.

They entered the room and noticed the secretary sitting outside of the principal's room Shirogana went to inquire about their appointment while the rest sat on the chairs.

Rei was nervous about meeting the principal. His feet were tapping the floor, showing his nervousness. Narumi who sat beside him noticed it and kept her hand on his shoulder.

She gave him a reassuring smile, calming him down. Shirogana came back and told them, "Another student is joining so the principal is talking with the parents. We should wait for some time till there's done."

Rei unconsciously sighed in relief. The room they were sitting in was not too large but could accommodate several people. There were several chairs placed for students and teachers to sit down.

Time passed by and the principal's room opened. A couple came outside the room with a girl. The girl had a round face filled with baby fat making her cute. She had long brown hair tied up to a ponytail. She was shorter than Rei and wore a pink top and blue shorts. Her eyes met with Rei's and they stared at each other while she was going. She then turned her head, which was bright red.

Rei didn't understand why she suddenly turned her head. He didn't mind as he didn't know her. The secretary came out and asked them to enter. Shirogana with Narumi entered together with Rei. Meiko and Sora stayed outside waiting for them as it was not their division.

As they entered Rei noticed the room was rather small. Seeing them enter, the principal stood up to greet them.

The principal was an old man. He had wrinkles all over his face. He had a kind smile plastered on his face. He was lean and as tall as Shirogana. He had a clean-shaved face.

The principal greeted them," Hello, you must be Shirogana Kamizato. And this must be Rei Toujou." turning towards Rei.

Hearing his name, Rei turned his attention back to the old man in front of him.

They all sat down. The principal asked some random questions towards Rei, who replied accordingly. The principal did not ask Rei about his family as Shirogana already briefed him about Rei's situation.

Shirogana submitted some required documents and completed the registration. As they settled everything all of them stood up.

The principal then turned towards Rei and said, "You need not feel any tension, Rei. If you have any problems, come to me I will take care of it. There is also a fresh student like you joining your class. It was the girl who came before you."

Rei just nodded and said nothing. He realized the girl was before he will be a classmate of his. But he shook the thoughts out of his head as it didn't matter to him.

The three came out and everyone made their way towards the middle school division for the siblings.
