Massacre (1)
Hundreds of guards surrounded Ling Tian. The city lord seemed to hesitate between attacking and running away. 'I can let these fools distract him and run away but I am unwilling to abandon this little empire I built...'
He gritted his teeth and remained, pointing his sword towards Ling Ting, he said loudly, "You Devil! You have killed dear members of this city for no reason. I am going to uphold justice!"
The guards heard him and sneered inside, they knew he was lying since everyone in the city was some sort of criminal but they also were criminals so they didn't care and looked at Ling Tian with evil smiles as they pointed their weapons at him.
Ling Tian felt nothing. He felt neither anger nor joy or any emotion, he felt his heart was empty. He felt heartless and yet he felt an unshakable obsession and desire to murder and slaughter everyone in front of him; Especially the city lord. His heartless state coupled with his obsession formed a strange resonance with his Qi and sword.
His red Qi spread around his sword, his sword began shining a sinister red, and his state of mind leaked to the surroundings. The guards felt the heartless obsession for slaughter aimed at them and the killing intent made their smiles freeze in terror. These guards were all the elite ones, all in the XianTian realm and yet their minds couldn't handle it.
The city lord felt it too and he thought with a shock, 'Such a terrifying Sword intent! I need to run away!' He turned around shamelessly and began fleeing at his top speed. The crowd had long ago dispersed.
Ling Tian took a step and the guards took one back, the next step he took made him appear directly above a guard. Before the guard in armor could look up, he was split in half as one of the sword rivers cut him.
The sword river spread like tentacles as they attacked in various directions. The guards knew they were in deep trouble especially after the city lord had fled so they formed a formation and retaliated with various techniques, their sheer number caused the sword rivers to be unable to pierce their formation.
They gained a little confidence seeing they had succeeded in blocking his move. They went on the offensive and managed to push Ling Tian back. Ling Tian's mind was a mess but he was still in control so he easily used his superior reflexes and speed to dodge their attacks.
The guards saw he was too fast for them to be able to hit so one of them shouted, "Channel all your Qi unto the commander, he will unleash a destructive move to flatten the Devil with everything near him!"
The commander nodded and the guards quickly channeled their Qi. The commander's body grew larger as he gave a war-cry and held his halberd above his head and swung down with tremendous force. "Ocean Halberd!"
A massive amount of Qi in the shape of a tsunami moved toward Ling Tian destroying everything in its path. The Qi of so many XianTian cultivators was strong enough to increase the attack's power to horrifying levels.
Ling Tian noticed the speed of the coming tsunami was too fast for him to dodge this time so he took a stance. He held the sword in a reverse grip as he crouched slightly. The moment the tsunami reached him, he began spinning around and at the same time slashed. Wave Repulser's special ability was to deal with wave attacks so the moment the tsunami touched the sword, Wave Repulser shone with a strange blue light and caused the coming attack to change direction and move after it due to a mysterious force from the sword.
Ling Tian's extremely fast spin caused the tsunami to gain terrifying speed as it moved around him and in the end, he stopped the sword's movement while pointed at the guards who looked on with deep fear. "Wave Repulser..."
The attack almost instantly reached the guards and a loud explosion occurred. The guards screamed as most of them exploded on the spot. The tsunami of Qi had actually summoned water since, after the explosion, rain began falling on the surroundings.
Where the guards were only a handful remained severely injured inside a small crater. Ling Tian appeared above them like a death god and severed their heads without hesitation. Their blood fused with the water flowing to form a light red pool at the bottom of the small crater.
He didn't linger to see, he instantly vanished chasing after the city lord. Everyone he saw on the way, he cut in several pieces with the sword rivers. The speed of the city lord was truly great and he even had a head start so he had escaped far only to encounter Lian Qiu looking at him coldly. "You are a monster! I won't let you live..."
The city lord was held up there. Lian Qiu may have been a weak fighter but that was compared to Ling Tian who had a cheat inheritance known as the system that gave him a very overpowered sword art named the Water Emperor sword art due to special circumstances that caused him to comprehend a part of it, Ling Tian had gotten memories of himself mastering that sword art and training in it for years when he had upgraded it; Yes, the sword art may not have been like second nature to him as a master but he was automatically adept at using it due to the system that also gave muscle memory.
Ling Tian also had a celestial level cultivation technique that made his Qi endless and especially potent, he also had body cultivation so he was very strong. Overall, Lian Qiu was actually an above-average fighter.
Lian Qi used his fan that had grown to be several feet long to block the fireballs the city lord constantly sent in his direction. They were both in the Inner Heaven realm and the city lord was a small realm above him being in the middle-stage but he still had the upper hand. He used his fan to block the fire techniques of the city lord and sliced the air with his fan causing sharp wind waves to attack the city lord. the latter had some slash wounds due to being hit.
The city lord knew the situation was especially bad so his sword lit up, fire engulfing it as he thrust toward Lian Qiu. Lian Qiu's fan had great defensive power but it was not good for blocking such a thrust so he closed his fan and the book on his other hand grew bigger. He used the now giant book's side to block the thrust. The sword stabbed deeply into the book and burned it but the fire was extinguished as the papers extended from the book and surrounded the city lord.
The city lord panicked and let go of his sword as he took out a red gem, the gem lit up and grew dangerously hot. Lian Qiu grew pale upon seeing the gem and instantly retreated, he was a step too late as a massive explosion followed, and he was blown back spitting blood. The book was torn to pieces and began burning.
The city lord had not escaped unscathed as he had several burn marks and his left hand was broken, it lay by his side awkwardly. He cursed under his breath and turned around to run away only to hit head face into something and fall down. He looked up and saw Ling Tian's shining red eyes staring at him.
The red Qi that had spread to his sword now engulfed it completely, along the edges of the sword's blade, the red Qi had turned pitch black. The city lord jumped back but Ling Tian didn't stand around to watch him, he swung his sword and the city lord sacrificed his broken hand to be able to retreat. His hand was severed and fell to the grown.
The city lord looked at Ling Tian with hatred as he took out dozens of similar shape, Lian Qiu who was near the site, crawled out of the relatively big crater formed due to the previous explosions and said, "Be careful, those gems are dangerous!"
"It's too late let's perish together! you bastards!" The city lord shouted with anger. Ling Tian noticed the 10 or so gems had begun to shine, he opened the system screen with his will and added all the points he had to his Sword art, water Emperor sword art. He had quite a lot of points especially due to the guards he had killed.

The knowledge of himself spending a long time mastering this sword to its relative stage entered his mind seamlessly as his body and brain received the muscle memory. This sword art's main focus was to be as efficient, smooth, and precise as possible. Thus the upgrade caused not only his general skill with the sword but also his precision to increase tremendously while wielding a sword.
The city lord saw Ling Tian dashing toward him, he only smirked, 'I will take you to grave with me!' He closed his eyes and waited but the awaited explosion didn't happen. He grew confused, 'Was the explosion so big that I didn't feel a thing dying?'
He opened his eyes only to look into Ling Tian's terrifying red eyes. He felt terror engulf his heart as he retreated slowly and looked down. He noticed the gems had been cut into dozens of pieces cleanly. Ling Tian had arrived on time and had cut them up with extreme precision at the locations that would not make the Qi go berserk, those spots were weak points in the enchantment that once cut, caused the Qi to leak and disperse.
These gems were specially crafted to explode once filled with Qi. As to how Ling Tian did it, everything happened in slow motion in front of him due to his increased reflexes as a body cultivator so he had a while to notice the patterns of Qi in the gems and ascertain where and how to cut them up.
Ling Tian said with a heartless tone, "I will cut you into mist after torturing you..." The city lord felt truly afraid of the Devil in front of him so he began scheming and opened his mouth to say something but just as he opened his mouth, Ling Tian surprisingly grasped his tongue and pulled it out; Before the city lord could react, Ling Tian kicked his mouth shut, the teeth of the city lord severed the tongue. It fell to the ground like a worm.
The city lord screamed, Ling Tian kicked again causing all the man's teeth to shatter. He brought his foot down and harshly stomped on the man's legs and crushed their bones. Tears fell down from the man's face as he screamed in pain.
Ling Tian was uncaring as viciously crushed his bones, he cut the man's stomach making its content fall out of the body. He then sat down and stared at the city lord's horror and pain calmly. He used his sword to play with the still connected and functioning organs that had fallen on the ground.
Every time his sword touched them, the city lord would scream weekly and tremble like a worm. A while passed as he continued playing with the city lord's insides. The man grew mad with pain and began laughing madly. The stench of blood and gore was quite thick, it would make most people vomit but Ling Tian seemed to not notice it. Lian Qiu looked at all this with disbelief.
Ling Tian noticed this and realized it was pointless to torture him more, he used his telekinetic power, he channeled Qi between his eyebrows and willed the body to move and stay still mid-air.
He took a stance as he channeled all his Qi to his body, enhancing his power and speed to the limit. He slashed once but he didn't stop, his hand grew blurry as he slashed over and over. 10 times, 20 times, 50 times, 200 times, 500 times, 1000 times! He did it for 10 seconds and stopped. "Death by a thousand cuts! Pay the rest in hell..." he murmured as he turned around and walked away, turning his sight to the rest of the city.
Since he had moved the sword so fast, it did create a lot of wind but he had used the Power of Wave Repulser to destroy the wind since it was also a form of a wave so no winds appeared. The blade had grown extremely hot due to friction with the air and caused The body of the city lord suddenly explode in a bloody mist behind him because of accumulated heat. He had truly slashed him till he was nothing but mist.
The bloody mist behind him, the dark clouds above him, and the ruined buildings and destroyed surroundings caused his lone dark figure to appear strangely devilish coupled with his shining red eyes that were barely visible, he looked like a Slaughter devil from hell. He moved to the rest of the city...
