Chapter 20: Camping
It was the next day and they were all sore. Elan got up and said "what are we going to eat for breakfast". They all looked at each other and starred at the car to go see what they packed for their meals. Elan walked over to the tent and said she was going to get dressed. She wanted to make sure the guys wouldn't look over since the flap on the window was broken.
Darby who was spying on Elan in the distance saw Elan getting undressed. Darby started talking to Tommy, " Wow she is really clueless. I hope she won't be this stupid or it will be to easy to kidnap her". Darby and Tommy realized that they were being really creepy watching her and decided to go to the boardwalk to get breakfast.
Elan finished getting dressed and decided she wanted to go get food and go for a walk. Tyler suggested the boardwalk and everyone agreed. They started walking over from the camp area to the beach. They saw a really good crepe stand and decided to try it. They all got different flavors but Elan decided to try the new flavor which was strawberry kiwi with caramel/chocolate drizzle. Elan felt a weird chill down her spine and looked over her shoulder.
She saw Darby walking right past her and she quickly ran over to Tyler and the rest. She was shaking and they all wondered what happened and decided to listen to her explain.
"Guys I just saw Darby and one of the henchmen that helped kidnap me walking by. He couldn't have been let out of prison so soon. What if he escaped we should call the police and ask them what happened". Elan was panicking because she didn't want to get held hostage again. Lucas tried to calm her down while Tyler called the station. He was told that he was still in jail along with possible bail. To the cops he was only arrested for being drunk since the guardians couldn't say the real reason.
Tyler decided to lie to Elan to calm her down as they were going to return home in two weeks anyways. They all decided to call the camping trip off early. They packed up their stuff and headed to the car. Darby was coming back to the camp site to see them getting in the car and driving away. Darby said dang she must've seen me I hope when they called the police my friends intercepted the call to tell them I was still in jail.
Darby told Tommy to pack up the stuff and meet him at the car. They headed to their home and decided to call it a week because they wanted to rest.
Elan was still shaken up even though Tyler told her that he was going to stay locked up for a long time. It was about lunch time and they all decided to go their own ways for the day so they can have personal time. Elan decided to take a nap because she was exhausted and she was scared from what she experienced that day. The guys decided to go out shopping for some video games to take back home with them.
While Elan was napping she had a small dream which is unusual since she usually doesn't dream when she naps. She looked around in the dream to see that she was back home. There was a really sad feeling in this dream and she saw a casket in the front of the room she walked slowly to the front to see her grandmother. There was letter in the pocket of her suit. Elan picked it out while she was crying and it said "Elan I can change your future if you don't visit me on your eighteenth birthday this will happen to your grandma the day after". It was signed by Darby.
Elan woke up to find that the front door was open and there was a letter in her hand. She opened it and realized it was the same as the one in her dream. Elan ran to the front door and closed it and ran to her phone to call her friends. She told them to come home as soon as they can. They all rushed home to find Elan hiding in the room and showed them the letter. They asked what the dream was about and she said her grandma's death the letter in her hand didn't say visit him just saying be warned.
Elan decided that she wanted to go home early since she was scared for her grandmother. They all agreed to go home early and they bought tickets for the next week. They will leave a week early. Tyler went to the hospital to tell his father and his father understood.
Tyler's father also said that he was down trying to pry into Elan's life as she already had enough problems as it was. After they were done talking they decided when it came to go back to Maine they would transfer Tyler's father to the main hospital at home. They all left the hospital and picked up some Chic-fil-a on the way home.
They arrived home shortly after 9pm and decided that they will finish eating their food and watch a show or movie. Tyler turned on Netflix and the show he chose wasn't in English but he said it was good. The name of the show was called Dragon Day, You're Dead. They watch the show till midnight since they lost track of time.
They took turns taking showers and they decided to watch "one" more episode before they went to bed and stayed up till 3am. They all started to get tired and turned off the television. They picked up their messes and headed off to sleep. Elan pretended to sleep so she could stay up a little longer to read her journal but fell asleep trying to read. She only read another three pages.
