Chapter 19: Journal 1 part 2
It was the start of a new day and they decided to continue the first book. They opened the book to the page they left off. The second half of the book went over Elan's weaknesses that she will have in the near future. It talked about how Elan will loose her strength so she will be very weak compared to other people.
She could use her brain to out smart people but the person that is her enemy is 5 times as strong and also smarter. Elan isn't sure that any of the books will talk about her personal guardian wanting to hurt her and to steal her dreams. She knew she will have to force herself to gain control over her fears and her weaknesses.
They continued to read through the chapters until the end of the first book. Elan had more weaknesses than strength compared to Darby. This was art of the curse and that's why she was supposed to be given a guardian in the first place. When Elan turns 18 her body will start to develop a new gene pattern. This is how her powers and weaknesses will change.
The book gave a warning saying that their could be more strengths or weaknesses. When your gene pattern changes they wouldn't know what will happen to Elan. All they know is that for 3 months following her 18th birthday she will have no powers and become very weak. Elan was thankful for the warning from the book so she knows to be very cautious during that time frame.
It was around lunchtime and they forgot to eat breakfast since they were all reading the book. They decided to go to the grocery store that was a 15 minute walk away. They walked to the grocery store and picked up enough food for their next three meals which was lunch dinner and then breakfast for the next day. Tyler starred at everyone and said "lets take a vote on who should cook this time".
Elan ended up having to cook because everyone voted for her except herself. She went to the kitchen and said "if you rush me then y'all won't eat. I'll cook you guys some vegetables along with a rotisserie chicken". Elan also told them that it will take some time as the chicken just finished defrosting. Elan started cooking everything at 11 and said it will take about 2 hours at least since she is slow cooking it in a bone broth when it is done cooking.
An hour went by and Elan went to go check on the chicken and it was almost done cooking so she started making the bone broth and the vegetables to add to it along with some home made pasta. Their lunch was going to be a type of chicken noddle soup but it was Elan's family recipe. The food finished around 2:30 and she made the guys set the tables. She passed out the food and they all ate the food.
Tyler was shocked that Elan actually knew how to cook food. Or that it actually tasted very good. After they all finished their lunch they put the leftovers in the fridge. They all decided that Jacob would cook dinner. They didn't know that Jacob couldn't cook to save his life.
Lucas kept trying to tell them that he will cook before they offered to Jacob. He knew his brother couldn't cook but he loves cooking. Tyler didn't believe it could taste that bad so they will have to wait till dinner to find out.
They decided to go to the beach to get some sunlight along with some exercise as it would help Elan with her injuries. They packed their swim suits and beach towels and chair and an umbrella also a tent because they decided to go on a little two day camping trip. They wanted to let stress get off their chest since they will have to go back to school soon.
It will be their senior year and they wanted to have fun instead of being stressed out. Elan started to talk, "Guys it feels like just yesterday it was our freshman year but know it's our senior year and we will be off to college soon". Elan thought that when it came time for college she knew she would have to learn how to protect herself since the guys want to go to different carriers. She decided to think about the present because she wanted to enjoy her time.
* To where Darby is*
Darby was at the beach spying on Elan and he thought the longer he would wait to get back at Elan he would have a better chance of kidnapping her. Darby starred to Tommy and said "lets put the plan on hold and wait till she is 18". Tommy was confused but he knew to not ask questions as Darby was in charge. They sat there observing Elan so they can get a better visual on her and to know her daily routines.
*Back to Elan*
Elan was trying to set up the tent but she couldn't do it herself since it was big. Tyler decided to help her fix up the tent and they realized they only brought on tent so they would all have to share the tent. They put down the sleeping bags inside and Tyler said that they are going to be cramped together. They decided to lay on top of the sleeping bags and use two comforters on top of them.
They made s'mores along with bbq food items since they were camping. After they ate their food they put out the fire and went inside their tent. They told story after story to scare each other to see who would get scared first. Elan always jumped every time they did a fake scream or when they dod a jump scare. Elan decided she would get revenge on them the next night.
They all slowly drifted off to sleep while tyler told a story and when everyone was asleep he said "one day I will make Elan hold onto me and to rely on me". Tyler didn't know but Elan heard him right before she nodded off to sleep. Elan thought it was part of her dream because she didn't believe Tyler also liked her. Tyler then shortly went to sleep after everyone else.
