Chapter 7: Chapter 7

"We can finally rest! Oh my not so fluffy bed I missed you so!"

"How can you rest with all that sweat stuck to your body? It feels disgusting."

"Watch me as my sweaty buttocks conquer this bed."

There will always be a war between the clean freaks and the dirty slobs and the bunk mates Rin shared were no different. Rin was more on the side of the clean and had his bath before settling on his bunk bed.

Rin's eight year old body was aching all over though, he never felt so sore before but he still found the strength to read.

"Rin how the heck do you still have the energy to read?" One of the bunkmates couldn't believe his eyes.

"Oh wasn't Rin the one who managed to skip class? Is that how he did it? Reading beforehand?"

Rin nodded.

"Should we do it too?"

"That's impossible for me. I'm too tired, a book filled with words to understand would just put me to sleep."

"Do you want to hear some gossip? I was told this academy had three beauties that are not only extremely beautiful but are extremely talented in the way of onmyoudou and recently one of them started dating a mysterious boyfriend that no one seems to be able to find!"

"So what?" The bunkmates were hardly interested in this type of topic.

"I heard that some suitors of hers piled up a large reward for the identity of the Boyfriend! So if you manage to find out you'll get a lot of money!"

Rin found the conversation to be interesting because of the reward money but he wasn't the type to snoop and he felt bad for the couple so he wasn't planning on joining in on the fun but everyone else… Definitely.

Speaking of investigations…

Sylvia's little stunt made her whole family move frantically.

Every single detail about Rin was dug out with great gusto. His family background, his past, hobbies, likes, dislikes and even what brand of toothpaste he uses were all collected.

"Isn't he quite a decent young man? I'm proud of Syl for choosing him, why are you objecting so much?" Grandpapa Syl was looking through the mountain of documents and found nothing that would allow his Son to object so much.

"Father you're a bit biased when it comes to Syl's relationship! You just want her to quickly marry and give you grandchildren. Have you seen his age? They both are so young and they should not even think about dating!" Papa Syl was extremely against any relationship and Grandpapa Syl was very for relationships so they always argued like fire and ice about it.

"I don't care. You better not do anything to jeopardise their relationship, since Syl is finally willing to choose someone I will support her!"

After fighting for awhile, their discussion was still at a standstill when a new casualty report came in.

"Things above have been a little strange.."

"Hmph! I think it's the youths that got sloppy. Look at the amount of casualties! We're not even at war and this is the result!"

Both of them had dark faces thinking about all these problems, especially papa Syl who was worrying pointlessly for his Daughter as well.

Grandpapa Syl took a thick stack of documents out with a serious expression. "This was proposed up the chain by several well enthusiastic instructors who came back from the front line. Give it a read."

After a few minutes of browsing, papa Syl's frown was even more stern than reading about his Daughter dating.

"Are they serious? This plan isn't a training plan! This will only weed out the strong from the weak! What good will this be?"

"I'll be honest seventy percent has already been interested in this plan. It's likely to pass and be implemented soon."

"Then Syl will?"

"No, they will start with the first years as a test case. The second years will graduate per usual."

Papa Syl suddenly had a grin.

"Wasn't Syl's Boyfriend a first year? If he can get through this program.."

"You'll accept him as your son in law?"

"Like heck I will! I'll just hmm…. acknowledge him just a little."

"You should really let go a little, you daughter-con."

"Haaa! Like you have any right to say that. You only want great grandsons, you are the last person who should tell me to let go."

Just like that the usual difficult army routine was about to turn into unchartered waters.
